2023-2024 Stanford

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For the application updates, what is considered a "major employment research accomplishment?" Like presenting at a conference or a huge finding in lab? They separated this from "new publications" so I a a little unsure what could be included in this category.

anyone know the answer to this?
Did a lot of searching through previous years and it seems to be somewhat linked. A lot of october and september interviewees hear back on the first decision waves. I think some November too, but they get a bit more common as time passes. It seemed like most people got waitlisted rather than rejected overall

Wait did Stanford require CASPer? I didn’t think they did. Haven’t heard since so maybe they have not reviewed my app yet if that is the case.

Are they sending out more II today?
I think it's tiny but more frequent II batches right now moreso than big waves. Between Cycletrack and last year's thread, IIs were sent on 12/8, 12/14, 12/15, 1/6, 1/10, and 1/12. There could be more dates that just didn't include anybody who was on SDN or Cycletrack.

actually its a little bit more difficult to get accepted as an IS candidate. just look at their % acceptance rates post interview for IS and OOS. IS is about 1/4 and OOS is about 1/3
i think its also possible that the data on that spreadsheet could be skewed since the sample size is so small, could vary year to year idk.

OOS is 32% and IS is 30% - they're about the same for last cycle.

Ignore them, they're just bitter that they haven't gotten a II... Your stats are great and you probably had a good mission fit! And clearly they don't "prioritize reviewing URM apps" very much because I interviewed on the first day they offered and I'm "ORM" (if you believe that's a thing) 🙄 So congrats and hopefully we both get in!! 🎉

I saw that some people earlier in the thread were unsure if PSTP was a separate interview process or not. I also applied PSTP and saw no mention of it one way or another in my II email. So I just checked online and found this:

"[Applicants that indicated PSTP] who are accepted into the MD program through the AMCAS portal are automatically accepted into the PSTP. . . Applicants who apply through the traditional MD portal (e.g., who do not select the PSTP option in the application) and who are accepted for MD admission are also eligible to apply for the PSTP after matriculation. PSTP application following matriculation is not competitive, and we strongly encourage students to participate. Stanford PSTP’s guiding philosophy is simple – matriculate to Stanford and know that once you arrive, we will help you determine which of the many paths available will allow you to best reach your full potential as a physician-scientist."

So it looks like there's no separate process/rigorous eval for PSTP, if you're in you're in!

Ok, I was looking at last year's thread to see when decisions might start being released and saw something about a "Post-Interview Update" tab disappearing in people's portals before they got a decision... I went to check my portal, but I don't have that tab and can't remember if it was ever there or not. Does anyone with a II have that tab? (Sorry for being neurotic lol)

Mines still there. I do think it means they reached a decision based on what people said in previous threads and what they lowkey implied during the interview about post interview updates.

Mine is still there - I submitted an update to it recently! It says clearly that it will be looked at only up to two weeks after the interview for ADCOM to see. After that, they probably won’t see it. So if your interview was more that two weeks ago, that’s probably why it’s gone.

I remember them saying that, but in last year's thread, people had it past the 2 weeks and it seemed to only disappear when they made a decision, which is why I was curious... Although maybe this year is different and they do remove it after exactly two weeks? idk 🤷‍♀️

Mine is also still there. I interviewed in October, so it has been well past the 2-week mark. When were your interviews?
