2023-2024 Texas A&M

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know A&M is huge on vouching for their alumni, does the medical school admit in a similar fashion? Does it “help” to be an Aggie?

MASSIVE congrats! Oh gosh not looking good for my 7/15 completion
In our pre-interview info session they said they were hoping to interview around 700 applicants this year . It's too early to give up hope!

about 40% of the group were Aggies

@Dr.MaddiGuddi Are you staying in Bryan and if so can you provide input on AIM?
Apologies for the delayed response ! I am not staying back at BCS but from my understanding AIM combines all the rotations together. For example, in the morning you can be at OBGYN and in the afternoon you'll be rotating in psych. Everything is together.

Usually it'll be something like 6 weeks of IM only, then 6 weeks of peds etc. At the end of it all you take all the shelf exams together which can be stressful.

I have heard that AIM students tend to score pretty high on Step 2.

I personally, did not want to stay back at BCS for all 4 years. Also coincendtally all of my close friends are at the campus I was assigned to, so I didn't appeal or try to switch to BCS.

does anyone know what kind of questions they ask for the EnMed interviews? Also what the difference between the 4 mini-interviews is?

What is the masters program that feeds to med school?

This one. Masters students take anatomy and histo (other courses as well) with first year professors and have to meet a certain gpa and mcat cutoff to receive an interview for med school. I did not do this program so I can't really answer any questions on it, but I've attatched a link.

Cool. Are all meeting certain GPA and MCAT get the interview? Do you know if they allocate any seats or just guarantee an interview.

I think its more so if you meet the mcat and gpa reqs you will get an interview. I think this program is helpful because you can get letters of req from first year profs, you are ahead with the course work, and you are able to demonstrate that you will be successful in medical school with your masters gpa.

So I think it just helps your chances of getting in to tamu med. I would reach out to tamu faculty Dr. Brett Mitchell about it. He leads this

I cannot say anything for sure 100% since I personally wasn't in this program.

Does anyone know if they need to have your Duel Score for your application to be complete and under review? I completely forgot about the Duel aspect of the application until now, and on that note, is there something special I have to do to send the score? I have already sent in my Casper score long ago.

You can log back in and take Duet at no extra cost then send to the same schools.
A&M doesn’t require Duet but UT Tyler does

Would you happen to know how in your batch went thru MS MS?

Honestly, off the top of my head I can count maybe 6 people? And theres ~25 people in the program (?)
I am sure this program helps people get into other med schools as well not just A&M. Not sure if theres any binding contract with A&M, wouldn't think so tbh

Ran into someone last year from Ponce who claimed their school had the obligation to fill every seat with their own MSMS students irrespective of how good they were.

Do any current students have any advice for the interview? 🙏🏾 There doesn't seem to be much info about it online, so I was curious to if it's going to be more focused on personal/app related questions or situational related questions or a mix. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Don’t stress too much! It’s a more relaxed & conversational interview. They’ll ask you to expand about some essay/application experiences, and handful of interviewers may throw in a medical ethics or humanities question (not trick questions).

My only prep advice would be to read your own application & essays again before your interview so you know what you submitted fo A&M and what the interviewer is seeing.

Im LM 74.3, and I finished my application in mid-June. I am just confused why some schools give you interviews and others don't, but I am assuming its because of mission fit.

Lots of chances left, don’t despair

I am grateful for the ones I have, but I guess I just thought all schools had the same general criteria for giving interviews since I see some people getting like 5-6. Some of my friends are distraught tho and are applying to more OOS schools because of the radio silence.

Very very few Texans get that many interviews
Just like Instagram, people tend to post positive news and stay quiet when feeling left out

Don't lose hope! You will get more soon!
