Looking at two years ago reddit, it looks like UCSF changes their "turn-around" deadline as they go through the cycle - if you are earlier in the cycle, it's a 4 week turnaround, and thats consistent with the email that they send. If you are later in the cycle, it's a 2 week turnaround, and they will say that in the email as well. However, when they switch to 2 weeks, the portal changes for everyone.

This would actually make a lot of sense. My email said 4 weeks, and I SWEAR I didn't see anything about 2 weeks when I was going through my secondary, yet when I opened it now that was the first thing I noticed in the portal. I'm guessing it was 4 weeks when I did mine, but they've updated the portal now to reflect the fact that it's later in the cycle.

This is great info & research!! Ty

How does UCSF look upon thank you letters to interviewers after the interview? How would we submit them?

IIRC they do not want thank you letters and will not send them until after decisions are made if u do send

So we are not sending thank you letters then?

How strict is UCSF with their 2 week secondary deadline?

I'm on the east coast, and my deadline was for 11/2. The invitation didn't specify a time so I assumed I had until 11:59PM PST to submit (or, 11/3 at 2:59AM EST).

I submitted my secondary on 11/2 around 11:45 PM PST, but the portal is showing that my application was submitted on 11/3 and that my payment was processed 11/3 at 6AM .... which isn't possible because it was like 2:45AM when I submitted on the east coast.

Is it worth calling them if they'll still consider my application / explain my situation and clarify that I technically did submit by 11/2?

No, it’s not worth calling to draw attention to the time you submitted, but it’s possible you did not make the deadline.

I thought it was a 4 week deadline; my email says, "Please log in to the status page and complete our secondary application as soon as possible, but no later than four weeks from the date of this invitation."

I don't think they're super strict with the exact timing of secondary submission. I submitted my secondary 4 weeks from the date I received it, but the portal showed the following date (4 weeks + 1 day). I got an II this morning, so you can rest assured that they don't automatically throw away your app even if you think you submitted x hours late.
