I sent an email this morning about re-opening my application to be considered for JMP/PRIME & submitted right @ 4 week mark. I'll update if they say anything about it!
This would actually make a lot of sense. My email said 4 weeks, and I SWEAR I didn't see anything about 2 weeks when I was going through my secondary, yet when I opened it now that was the first thing I noticed in the portal. I'm guessing it was 4 weeks when I did mine, but they've updated the portal now to reflect the fact that it's later in the cycle.Looking at two years ago reddit, it looks like UCSF changes their "turn-around" deadline as they go through the cycle - if you are earlier in the cycle, it's a 4 week turnaround, and thats consistent with the email that they send. If you are later in the cycle, it's a 2 week turnaround, and they will say that in the email as well. However, when they switch to 2 weeks, the portal changes for everyone.
This is great info & research!! GOATJust to add a data point, I received my UCSF secondary on 8/25, submitted it on 9/18 (~3 weeks after I received it), and received an interview invite. Wanted to mention this because if you submitted close to this timeframe you should be good if you went over 2 weeks!
Nah bro you're the GOAT of GOATs!!!GOAT
IIRC they do not want thank you letters and will not send them until after decisions are made if u do sendHow does UCSF look upon thank you letters to interviewers after the interview? How would we submit them?
So we are not sending thank you letters then?IIRC they do not want thank you letters and will not send them until after decisions are made if u do send
You still can if u really want to (to the general admissions email I think), but the interviewers likely won't see em for a while :/So we are not sending thank you letters then?

No, it’s not worth calling to draw attention to the time you submitted, but it’s possible you did not make the deadline. How strict is UCSF with their 2 week secondary deadline?
I'm on the east coast, and my deadline was for 11/2. The invitation didn't specify a time so I assumed I had until 11:59PM PST to submit (or, 11/3 at 2:59AM EST).
I submitted my secondary on 11/2 around 11:45 PM PST, but the portal is showing that my application was submitted on 11/3 and that my payment was processed 11/3 at 6AM .... which isn't possible because it was like 2:45AM when I submitted on the east coast.
Is it worth calling them if they'll still consider my application / explain my situation and clarify that I technically did submit by 11/2?
I thought it was a 4 week deadline; my email says, "Please log in to the status page and complete our secondary application as soon as possible, but no later than four weeks from the date of this invitation."No, it’s not worth calling to draw attention to the time you submitted, but it’s possible you did not make the deadline.

Adding onto this, anyone complete around late September heard back with an II or R?Anyone apply with MD/Prime and hear back?
I don’t think they’ve gotten any where near that far yet. I submitted early Sept and haven’t heard anything eitherAdding onto this, anyone complete around late September heard back with an II or R?
+1 🙁Pre II R, hurts 😭
yeah anyone?!any pre-secondary R?
They said November was the end of secondaries?I know secondaries stop at the end of this month. So I guess we'll know then.
They said November was the end of secondaries?
I wonder if that's new because last year people were getting secondaries in DecemberYeah, it’s on their website: MD Program Application Process | UCSF Medical Education
i submitted mid-August and haven't heard either. Although maybe they're just giving me a soft RI don’t think they’ve gotten any where near that far yet. I submitted early Sept and haven’t heard anything either
Rip CA applicantsSame here. Submitted 8/30 and silence. But I have had absolutely no success on the west coast--rejected by Washington (because not eligible), and crickets from Stanford, UCSF, and UCLA! Looks like assuming I get in somewhere, I'll be going to med school on the east coast or the midwest.
Best of luck!
I can’t even blame that. East coast here, Midwest undergrad. I just obviously didn’t do a great job convincing them I’d head west!
goat what are your stats?IS II for MD/PRIME. Secondary received 8/9, complete 9/6. Totally wasn't expecting this... beyond excited!
I don't think they're super strict with the exact timing of secondary submission. I submitted my secondary 4 weeks from the date I received it, but the portal showed the following date (4 weeks + 1 day). I got an II this morning, so you can rest assured that they don't automatically throw away your app even if you think you submitted x hours late. How strict is UCSF with their 2 week secondary deadline?
