If you look at previous GWU years it shows a decent number of people on hold got interviews. It could be so many reasons. Best of luck this cycle!
 
there's no rejections/IIs on cycle track, so do they just put everyone on hold?

Is it too early to submit an update? I’ve been accepted to present at APHA this fall and have also submitted a few manuscripts for publication since I submitted my app. Is this worthwhile to add?

Will do, thanks for the input! I’m on hold for re-review, so I wasn’t sure if that would help my case at all once they get back to my application. I’ll hold off though.

Submitted on 7/16 and nothing yet just complete I’m like……this is either going in a good direction or the complete opposite only time will tell. Lol

A hold means different things at different schools. For GW, it's relatively neutral
 
Just checked and im on hold for re-review as of August 10th and submitted on july 27th. no idea how long its been in that status.
 
Marked complete 7/19 and still complete… any news on the meaning of a hold?
 
So just looking through my portals and noticed GW had this message:

"Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. Files are re-reviewed by the committee periodically and there is no set schedule for decisions. We do interview from August through March. Please feel free to update your file during this time using the GW Admissions Portal. If we require any further documentation or if your status changes, we will contact you immediately. We do sincerely appreciate your interest in our program. Thank you for your patience."

Does that truly mean they've looked at my application or is that what everyone else's portal also says?

Yes it does mean they have reviewed it all and they are going to keep reading more that come in and compare them.
This is the “you are on hold “ message.
Many of you will later be pulled up for an interview
 
For those with interview status in the portal, are y’all getting emails notifying you as well?
 
Has anyone with interview status gotten the email yet? On the website it says they will assign us a date, so I am hoping they email soon so I can put in that last minute PTO request lol.
 
What makes you a unique individual? What challenges have you faced? What have you learned from your experiences?
question regarding this secondary question: should it be a specific instance of a challenge. i wanted to talk abt growing up in a rural area & being first gen, but this question is oddly vague for how little characters we have the opportunity to write w... pls pls any help! this is the last thing before i can submit

I spoke about growing up in a poor community and being a first gen student, and spoke about what I learned and the challenges involved in that. should be a good prompt for you to write about

i submitted my secondary last week so I hope it isn't too late. You should be fine to submit this week

Not too late- when you add schools on AMCAS you have to “resubmit” but that doesn’t mean they go back and verify it all over again- the new school should get your primary the next day

what was the date if you don't mind me asking? waiting on the email with a date as well and trying to gauge if I need to get last minute PTO for it if it's this month
