2024-2025 Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if MWC has a minimum MCAT score? I checked their website, but couldn't find anything. However, other 3rd party websites say 500.

I believe MCW will send a secondary to any completed primary application, though a sub 500 score would be out of the 10th-90th percentile range shown on MSAR. If your application is otherwise strong shoot your shot.

Got the financial aid email today. I wish there were more scholarships available 🙁
Don’t forget to keep looking for scholarships at whatever school you go to, some are usually given to MS2,3,4 students. join the county medical society which likewise also has scholarships sometimes.

Thanks, Wysdoc! I found scholarships through the state medical societies. It appears to be available mainly for those interested in future practice in WI, but others are available too.

For those interested, here is the link for Wisconsin Schools.

For those who have interviewed, were the vibes good? Did you feel good about your interviews? Interviewing soon and just a bit nervous so could use some reassurance!

Vibes were good! Faculty interview was easier than the student interview. The student just went down my application and asked me to say something about each activity lol

very casual, good vibes, true to that midwest ethos of kindness.

definitely know your app well -- both my interviewers asked me specifics on my activities and how i reflected on them.

Thank you!! ❤️

Would it be frowned upon to send a second update letter (first one was about 2 months ago) pre-II? I've started a full-time clinical job, and I wanted to mention this.

I emailed them today and they said they are still conducting interviews through till March. However, I am unsure if this means they are still sending interview invites up until then.

Any ideas on what to write about in a second pre-II update/interest letter? I started a new job after submitting my primary app that I already talked about in my first update letter in November but this is my top choice and really really want an II 🥲

Is attendance mandatory for preclinical lectures with MCWFusion? Also, is anyone else somewhat concerned about the short summers and lack of spring break? Just curious since there seems to be more days of instruction compared to other medical schools.
Most med schools give you a summer break after MS1 but that will probably be your only summer off.

@DrainCravens M1 in Fusion currently - some lectures are mandatory and some are not, and these are detailed in our schedule. We have a split between webcasts to watch and usually the end of the week we either have mandatory class that you can attend via Zoom or in person. Spiral weeks after each block are basically our breaks as well. But you steer clear of traditional breaks after you get into med school anyways.

Thanks for the details. So there isn’t a summer break after M1? And how many spiral weeks are there during each preclinical year?

There is a summer break after M1 for MKE campus. Spiral weeks after almost every block. The fusion curriculum schedule should be posted on the MCW website.

hoping i dont jynx myself by asking this but wondering how long it took for MCW swag to come in the mail after an acceptance?

I reallyyyy hope they send out decisions Friday morning instead of Monday like they've done in the past, but regardless I really appreciate them for such quick turn-around times

In state and LM 65.8. No interviews so far I’m prepping to reapp with better scores but reallllly crossing my fingers here😬 any chance still for me or anyone in the same boat?
