+1 IS II today! LM 77 complete 6/10
I have friends who went there for undergrad and they call it “Tech.”What do people at TTUHSC call it as a shorthand when they talk about it in person? Saying TTUHSC in full feels too long.
Depends on the context, if you're in Lubbock you call it "the HSC" if not you'd call it "Tech".What do people at TTUHSC call it as a shorthand when they talk about it in person? Saying TTUHSC in full feels too long.
I think they are taking a page from some of the bigger name schools and interviewing higher LMs early. Usually, they used to spread them out and go by application date. Its also possible the high LMs sent their essays later to Lubbock and that might have changed this cycle?Dang these LMs have all been super high. I’m thinking there probably is a shot for me even though I submitted this school’s secondary in May, I’m just guessing I’m not one of their tippy top applicants

I wrote an entire post about their numbers but turned out it is El Paso stats (65 for applicants, 70.6 for interviewees and 68 for admittees in 2023). I cant find Lubbock stats. I assume they are close.I’m glad to hear that. I know an II can come at any time, but seeing SO many II dates when I applied pretty early AND very very high LMs was kind of scary to see lol
do you have west texas ties? or interest in rural medicine? my high stat family member (no west texas ties) didn't get a tech ii but does have several other interviews.I’m glad to hear that. Please try not to be anxious on behalf of your "very smart family member" and it's not really helpful to ask this same question in multiple threads.do you have west texas ties? or interest in rural medicine? my high stat family member (no west texas ties) didn't get a tech ii but does have several other interviews.
ok. i was just trying to be helpful saying that other people hadn't received tech ii either but will refrain. thanks! Please try not to be anxious on behalf of your "very smart family member" and it's not really helpful to ask this same question in multiple threads.
The interviews are passed out over a period of many months, and it's uncommon to get an interview at each and every school
Don't worry to much about it, my friend with a ~68-70 LM was interviewed in December and got accepted. (He also applied very very early)Dang these LMs have all been super high. I’m thinking there probably is a shot for me even though I submitted this school’s secondary in May, I’m just guessing I’m not one of their tippy top applicants
If I remember correctly I believe from an event I attended their matriculant stats were around a ~3.8 GPA and 511 MCAT or so. I believe the highest MCAT in the class was a 522? Not too certain on that however.I wrote an entire post about their numbers but turned out it is El Paso stats (65 for applicants, 70.6 for interviewees and 68 for admittees in 2023). They can interview and admit all the 80+s they want but those get admitted elsewhere too (baylor, UTSW etc) and will choose them. So they admit more people to compensate. I know someone from recent cycle who got admitted on match day with a 65.
Getting an interview is very important - when in the cycle is not.
Does anyone know if the interview is open or closed file?
LM? When did you submit secondary?+1 II OOS
has anyone here interviewed here yet? if so how was the experience?
I also got an IS II this morning and was able to access the link without any issues. The link takes you to the secondary portal, which has a new "Interview" tab for scheduling an interview. The earliest date I saw was 9/27.IS II received this morning. I am having difficulty accessing the link to schedule my interview. Is anyone else having this issue?
That is probably the earliest date open right now. If you wait it might be even later+1 IS II couple hours ago! LM 73, complete 6/30.
Just checked the interview dates available and the earliest is in mid-October ...if I wait, is there a chance that an earlier spot will open up? Has anyone been in a similar situation before? I'm not on SDN much, so I apologize if this is a commonly asked question.
You should feel happy that your powers are still working after that initial windfall+1 IS II LM 82 completed 05/31.
My harvesting senses were taken aback by an II after having submitted my application so long ago, but I seem to underestimate my ability to speak to the IIs on a spiritual level.
Are you from west Texas? If yes, I'd like to know more about the area.I cannot wait to get an interview invite from Texas Tech! It is one of my top schools😢
IS II 9/2
Don't know how accurate it is, but admit.org says 29%Is there a stat for post interview acceptance rate?
Don't know how accurate it is, but admit.org says 29%
Admit.org is crowdsourced from a sample of people who add in their info sporadicallyI saw that too and I was thinking that it sounds a little low imo. Maybe because of Texas match system?
That makes sense. So I guess we don't have any data on the acceptance rate, but we do know that 20% matriculate following an interview which would mean the acceptance rate is probably much higher than that. Also, I just wasn't sure if post acceptance rate is an accurate metric for tmdsas because I believe medical schools rank their students instead of "accepting" unless its a prematch.Admit.org is crowdsourced from a sample of people who add in their info sporadically
Overall TMDSAS % admitted is about 30% though (of applicants, not of interviewees)
For Lubbock the % matriculated after interview is about 20% for IS and 17% for OOS from MSAR data
I think you have a good understanding of the basicsThat makes sense. That are some good odds. Thank you for that!I think you have a good understanding of the basics
While I don’t have specific admissions percentage data for the individual schools, the overall outcome is good :
If you get 1 or more interviews as an IS applicant, your odds of admission somewhere in TMDSAS are 70%
Data from EY 2023 TMDSAS
Texans applied 4814
Texans interviewed 3309
Texans accepted 2339
Texans matriculated 2077
The other 262 presumably enrolled OOS
Don't worry about it being that far in the future, you'll notice they have been sending out invitations pretty often and filling their interview daysOOS from TX, Received Last Sunday night 10PM? And interview is Nov 1...
+1 OOS II this morning, interview on 10/30
Congrats y'all! Do y'all mind sharing LM scores and when y'all were both complete? Good luck on y'alls' interviews!II from TX, Received Last Sunday night 10PM? And interview is Nov 1...
