So I interviewed on Monday and am extremely excited about the school. I'll try to just give a brief summary of my thoughts, but would be glad to answer any questions that I can.
So, I felt like the format of the day was very similar to the disruptions from the old threads of interviews at VCOM. The staff was extremely nice and did a really good job of keeping the day very laid back and low stress. Mattie and Joy seemed like they were just as excited as we were. At the interview was myself and four other applicants, the beginning of the day we did small introductions and had a presentation that included layouts of every floor of the new school (awesome), their mission, curriculum, renderings of what the inside of the building will look like (beautiful), and the rotation sites (wakemed and others). Then we broke up into our 3 half hour interviews. I Thought that the interviews were a great experience and very informal conversation-like, with them talking probably as much as me. No trick questions what so ever, I felt like they were trying to get to know me and we talked about my long term career goal and specifics from my app a lot. Only one of my interviewers was a little tough to read (poker face), but everyone seemed extremely confident in the new school and really gave the impression that the school has the experienced faculty, financial backing, and hospital connections to really be a successful school in the future. This was even more emphasized during lunch with the dean who informally answered any questions for us. Then we did a tour of the undergrad campus and a meeting with the financial aid person.
Sorry this is so long, but I was just really shocked by how excited I became about the school, and I feel like it will be extremely hard to top based experiences. I currently check my phone every five minutes to see if somehow I missed a call, we are supposed to find out by the end of the week via phone call!
