Hi all,

I am currently a 3rd year transfer student to Northeastern University, and once I graduate I will be interested in applying to UMASS (including other allopathic and DO schools, but I do really like this school due to the lowered tuition for Mass residents).

I'm a bit disheartened however:

I was a pharmacy student for 2 years in MCPHS University, and had a great GPA of 3.8; at that point I was confident about UMASS Med. However, once transferring to NU as a pre-med/Biology student, I flunked a course called Biostatistics which is actually one of the toughest courses at NU and also got a B+ in genetics. The NU policy for transfers is that our GPA starts over, so my MCPHS GPA is separate (not sure if it'll even be counted when applying to UMASS Med...). Hypothetically, if I get all A's my next three semesters, and retake Biostats and get an A the next time, my GPA including the F would be a 3.6. I am very upset about this since I was confident about my acceptance with my previous GPA.
Lets say if I apply with a 3.6 and a decent MCAT score (lets say above 35), would I have a chance to get accepted?
As extras: I did not really do much in my past two years except shadowing a few doctors and working for a year at CVS pharmacy as a technician Currently, I am on the eboard of one of the pre-med groups on campus, and will do some other leadership roles such as Best buddies, Big sister, dance choreography, and anything else I can find within the next couple of semesters; I will also do Co-OP which will help give me research and lab experience, as well as clinical experience.
