I think some people are told in their acceptance letter, while others just find it on their financial aid letter. We have several scholarships for varying amounts floating around, but I think most people just find out first via their financial aid letter, followed up by an email later asking if you want to accept it. The amount you're rewarded can also change. If I recall correctly, my scholarship increased by 25% right before classes started.

CMS will also send emails in your throughout the year (esp. during the spring semester(s)) with scholarship applications. Some of these require nominations either via grades or your peers (e.g. Excellence in Interprofessionalism, Dean's Excellence) while others are a simple application (e.g. CMS General Scholarship)

I was wondering the same thing. It mentioned the deposit being refundable if you withdraw before May 1st so I'm assuming it's non-binding? It wasn't very clear.

I'm a current M4 here at CMS, we definitely had a good match list but the match rate was not 99.4%, that's likely the placement rate. I know there were a handful of people who did not get their first choice, or even dropped far down their program list in competitive fields (eg Rads this year). This year's match was significantly better than the class of 2022, especially for competitive fields (for example last year we had nearly 50 students, or a quarter of the class, match into IM and around 20 match FM, some of which were vying for competitive fields and didn't match their first choice).

I'm a current M4 here at CMS, we definitely had a good match list but the match rate was not 99.4%, that's likely the placement rate. I know there were a handful of people who did not get their first choice, or even dropped far down their program list in competitive fields (eg Rads this year). This year's match was significantly better than the class of 2022, especially for competitive fields (for example last year we had nearly 50 students, or a quarter of the class, match into IM and around 20 match FM, some of which were vying for competitive fields and didn't match their first choice).

Just to follow up. As an M1, this was a big deal for me when it came to where I applied. Sometimes RFU gets its fair criticism for not having a primary teaching hospital or for past LCME problems. But oh boy, the match results are pretty good and relatively consistent (95% pre-SOAP in 2022). That's a big deal.
