I wonder how many are in a group?
Hopefully not too many....seems like they screen hard before sending secondaries and even harder for ii. Have you gotten any email other than the scheduling confirmation?

I got an ii yesterday as well I tried to email them about what specific dates are available but they haven't gotten back to me. So, is it all the month of November and we just choose any day that's a Monday Tuesday or Thursday? It wasn't totally clear to me

Those who have interviewed...please tell us everything about it
I don't think they had interviews this week but I could be wrong. I signed up for October 21st. Did any of you guys get an email with hotel info, interview day schedule, etc.? I talked to Brian yesterday when I was scheduling my interview and he said he'd be sending out an email with extra info.

As an FP DO --reading through these posts have brought back many memories for me when I applied 20 + years ago to DO school. And I just want to say that I wish each and everyone of you success with getting into Liberty or any of the other DO schools for that matter. You will all get there eventually. And I promise you.. that in the end it will be worth it. No regrets! Best of Luck!
My daughter is applying here this cycle as well and if possible I would like any feedback that any of you have about this school. Take care and if there is something I can help answer for you or questions you have about the DO profession please PM me. I don't mind. ;-) I have med students rotating with me all the time and I will do what I can to help answer your questions. Thanks again
The interview was verynice 😉 they took us around the LU campus and showed us the available amenities. They are sticking hard to their conservative Christian heritage and stated that blatantly during the introduction. The medical school is not yet finished but certainly looks prestigious as it sits atop a hill overlooking the blue ridge mountains. I got some hard questions during my interview, so be prepared to be challenged.
4000 primaries, 500 interviews, 150 seats.
That is what we were told
I assume they will accept roughly 300 students

Overall, I enjoyed the tour but there were a few cons I saw. Firstly, they really want people to practice in Virginia. All rotations will be in the same hospital/clinic through the duration of year 3 and 4 from what I gathered. Also, they are not going to pursue any type of research for at least 3-4 years.

What do you mean grill? What types of questions does that refer to?

Wow thanks. Good luck to your daughter. I have a question on your opinion. I have heard that liberty, being a creationist school, may have some trouble preparing students for boards. Apparently because of the embryology class... I really don't know, but this is why students are slightly worried about liberty. Do you think liberty would do this? It seems to me like that would be a bad business model. They should prepare students like all the other schools. Thanks
What have u heard about the embryology course?
4000 applicants? I find that hard to believe, unless they're taking 2k from their parent institution.

I'm in the Facebook group and most of the people were so worried about applying to lucom. When I asked why, someone said there are a fee key classes that prepare you for boards that may be dangerous if you go to lucom.
Embryo was one of them.
Tbh, I don't see why they would include creationism in the actual curriculum. If I'm a school starter, my business model is gonna be centered around great board scores. I don't see why lucom would include the young earth stuff in there, and I don't think they will. I could be wrong of course.
In the academic catalog there is no classes in the curriculum on embryology or the young earth creationism.
Thats terrifying. Isnt embryo on the COMLEX??
What kind of religious rules do they want you to abide by though?

So. I've done a bit of digging, because well that's what I do. Here is what I have come up with for the code of conduct. When I went to the LUCOM website I found the academic catalog and looked up code of conduct. This is what I found:
Academic Conduct and Personal Code of Honor polices are consistent with Liberty University
and its graduate programs and are described in the LUCOM Student Handbook
source: http://www.liberty.edu/media/1290/pdfs/LUCOM_Catalog_2013-2014_2.pdf
So everyone in LU has to follow the same code of honor (called the liberty way). Tried to find it on their main campus website - nada, couldn't get in without a student username and password. Seems a bit odd right? So I look for a PDF online and I can't seem to get my hands on a complete copy. I did find snippets though and for those who are interested this is what I got:
Movies
Liberty University has always attempted to maintain a conservative standard in its approach to the arts and entertainment. Current policy for movie viewing allows for attendance at theaters but prohibits viewing of movies rated R, NC-17 or X. The penalty for viewing such movies is a reprimandable offense. It should be remembered that in no way is Liberty University endorsing the movie industrys rating system as appropriate or Christ-honoring. In addition, the Division of Student Affairs will continue teaching guidelines and principles to students related to all forms of entertainment. This would mean that many PG-13 and some PG movies, although not prohibited by policy, may also be inappropriate.
Video Games
The playing of video games that are A and RP -rated is not permitted, and is a reprimandable offense. The playing of EC, E, and T-rated games are permitted but should be played with discretion. Any M -rated games with descriptors indicating any sexual content, alcohol/drug content, or strong language are not permitted, and is a reprimandable offense. M -rated games depicting violence will be at the discretion of Resident Directors. Liberty University refers to the Bible for all moral standards.

Y'all need to do a little more research before freaking out about pre-clinical coursework. Their classes seem up to par with most D.O. school curricula...and if it really bothers you just ask the faculty during your interview. In the academic catalog there is no classes in the curriculum on embryology or the young earth creationism.
Did anyone indicate on their secondary a religion outside of Christianity and still got an interview?

Dammit! I am Muslim, and I am pretty sure I won't even get a secondary from here now.

Yes it does. Why is it such a big deal? People just put other if you want
Because no other school (to my knowledge) asks this. Think about that for a second.
Then apply somewhere else if you are afraid of religion.
