Just a clarification...LU is not a Catholic school. They originally identified as a Baptist affiliated institution, and now are primarily identifying themselves as an Evangelical Christian university.

I am definitely not trying to come off nit-picky or anything, and it is not a huge mistake in the scheme of things, but you definitely don't want to make that slip during an interview, or when talking with others about the school. It might make you come off as poorly informed or unaware.

As a side note, I worked in Saudi Arabia for a little over a year with the Red Crescent setting up an aeromedical flight program. I absolutely loved my time there, and still have many Muslim friends. I loved learning about Islam and even though I am not a Muslim, the opportunity to serve on the medical helicopter that flew missions into Mecca during Hajj in order to aid pilgrims in medical need was spiritually moving to say the least.

Hopefully we can meet during the interview on the 19th, and insha'Allah be classmates in the near future!

Very happy to hear that. I envy you that you have been to Mecca. Hopefully, I get to do that one day. I would love to meet you too. I have not reserved a hotel yet. Would be nice if we are staying in the same hotel. I will get there on December 18th, Insha hAllah.

Is anyone else that has been accepted having trouble trying to get into ASIST? Mine has been saying error for several days and can't seem to view that area. I can access everything else and can see that my deposit went through, which was my primary concern. Thanks for any info.

I am having the same issue. I can log into myLU but not into ASIST. I get "Access Denied" message whenever I try to get to ASIST via myLU. I called the IT and they told me to try again in a few days since I just paid the deposit.

Ok thanks for confirming this mud91 =)

primary app was delivered to LUCOM almost 2weeks ago and still no secondary app... should I consider it a silent rejection?

I believe the last day is December 20th, according to the email sent by Ben Smith on Nov 20 if you got it then.

Yes that is when I received it so okay good! I still have time! Thank you for letting me know! I guess they're not following the aacomas dates? Because only $500 is due right?

How is everyone paying the deposit? I keep trying to long into ASIST, but it has an error. The helpdesk has been working on it for a few days, but it has not been fixed yet. I tried calling student accounting but have been on hold over 45 minutes. For the people who made payments already what method did you use?

Hey question for all of you who are accepted and plan to attend. Does the school have the traditional or problem bases curriculum? Are there any simulating robots? Does the school offer any standardized patients? I have an interview in a few days. It would be nice to know all this.

From the educational resources tab:
"Twelve thousand square-feet of modern and state of the art technology highlights the Standardized Patient and Simulation (SIM) Lab, located on the second floor. The facility is dedicated to providing hands-on, active student learning and professional development opportunities utilizing simulation provided by both live patients and high fidelity simulators.

Six high fidelity simulation rooms set up to simulate Operating Rooms (OR), Emergency Rooms (ER), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Birthing Suites. A clinical exam and patient rooms provide the staging for learning in safe yet realistic settings for the students of the COM.

Sixteen Standardized Patient encounter rooms provide interaction with trained actors that simulate common, as well as, complex medical conditions. This interaction is designed to advance the student’s ability to interpret, apply and utilize knowledge, which leads to the proper assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in a clinical setting.

All simulation and standardized patient areas provide the technology required for recording visual and audio interactions between the student and the patients, in turn allowing for CCTV broadcasts, faculty, staff and self-evaluation of the student, and the basis for both substantive evaluation and formative feedback.

Duplicating the exam rooms in the medical clinic (associated with the college) will allow for the development of student skills required for patient interviews, gathering of information through history and physical examination, evaluation and interpretation of information to make a diagnosis and design a treatment plan, as well as, the setting needed to learn utilization of electronic medical records and documentation systems, diagnostic modalities such as radiology, ultrasound, cardiac and pulmonary evaluations in patients similar to those that will be encountered in practice via a safe environment for both the patient and the learner.

The facility provides for the interprofessional education and interaction required of today’s physician; allowing osteopathic medical students to interact with nursing, public health, athletic trainers, emergency medical technicians and other health care providers in the evaluation and care of simulated patients.

Available for medical groups of all types, the center provides for the advancement of education as well as evaluation of knowledge and skills for professions already in practice and the provision of continuing medical education and assessment."

Awesome and sweet. I am happy and satisfied.

Has anyone who interviewed on the 18th heard anything yet? I think they were supposed to meet last Friday, but I'm wondering if it got put on hold because of Thanksgiving or something.

I interviewed on the 25th, and we got told that the next meeting would be today (Dec 6th) and that this will be the last meeting before Christmas. But they would be reviewing every complete file today with decisions being made. So, hopefully we will hear today!

I called them today again, and told me I was in a "hold" category,,, they had to manually review my app and decide what the next step was. ;(

I think you should. I mention it on mine in the context of practicing medicine. I am a devout Christian as well. I don't think that can hurt though.

Did anyone receive any phone calls today?
Hvilledoc (the poster before me) received one to inform him/her that they will send a secondary. I did not receive one. I am on pre-secondary hold.

Does anyone recall what they had said during the interviews about getting fixed residency positions?
