This comment actually made me tear up a little bit 😳 I appreciate the kind words!! I truly believe this forum is meant to inform, inspire and support each other. I'd also like to mention that this is my THIRD YEAR applying to medical school. To all of those people who are getting frustrated this year, just keep working and improving the parts of your application that need improving. If you have the motivation and drive to get there, you will. I'm living proof!

Congrats!!! I knew you could do it 🙂

Just goes to show you that if you truley want to become a doctor and being a physician is your dream, there nothing in this world that can stop you. If you sacrifice enough, you can make it happen, no matter how long it takes 👍

Thank you! 👍

Interviewed yesterday and I really enjoyed the experience!! Some more useful info for people wondering:
Ladies: you are allowed to leave any purses in a secure auditorium while the MMI and other presentations are going on if you would like. A woman in my group had spare flats in her purse that she changed into for the tour, which was a smart idea if heels give you pain.
Everyone: they provide light refreshments, coffee, pop, snacks.

Overall the experience was great, informative, and included a good amount of face time with the dean and other faculty. I left more excited!

Good luck to all those still waiting!

I had an interview yesterday as well..I think we were in the same Cohort. loved the place and the MMI's were a lot of fun. They go by really fast..Those of you who already interviewed. Did you write thank you notes to all the interviewers. I don't even remember all their names because it was going by so fast. EmOlee what are you planning on doing about this

I asked this question during my interview day and we were told to just write a thank you to Bryan Moody, so that's what I did. Hope that helps! Good luck 🙂 🙂

Not a problem and thank you!! 🙂 i like that you called me famous 😛 i can't wait for u to join us happy people come next week! 👍

EmOLee and Mash43 -- we were all in the same cohort 🙂. (I appreciate the shout out...haha I was the one who brought flats!)

I was really impressed with the school - loved MMI sooo much more than traditional interview. You dont often come out of a med school interview describing it as "fun" but it was.

Marian really has great support from the community and has impressive plans for the future. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for good news next week.

Yes I agree with all of this. The letters from the hospitals included in the folder were a great read for the ride home! It will be a long week waiting for a response 🙂

DrMeows for class president!

So I wanted to talk about the amazing experience I had here at marian today. The mmi was very unique and you got to meet with different faculty members as well as possible future preceptors. One physician, who works in rural indiana drove 3 hours to interview us. That shows you how much the physicians in Indiana believe in the prospective students. Also, there is an osteopathic hospital 5 minutes away from the school as well as the St. Vincent network of hospitals that the students would most probably rotate at. There are so many resources this school already has, pretty solid.

Would you mind sharing which hospitals included letters?

St Vincent, community health, and community DO hospital. Correct me if I'm wrong, EmOlee.

It was awesome, wasn't it?! Marian has really turned out to be an amazing school, with so much potential and opportunity.

I was also impressed with the local physicians who showed up and interviewed us. They seemed all to be deep, engaging and otherwise cool 😉

As always, Good luck to those waiting!

So happy to see great feedback of this new school here. I just got a secondary from Marian, yes, it is very late in the cycle, but getting a secondary still makes me so happy.

With how organized and efficient this school has been since the cycle opened it really doesn't feel like a new school. The only time I was even reminded of it being new was at the interview when I saw the building under construction...😀

Yes, it was very positive... which cohort were you in? Surprising how many people had been to grad school.

Surprising how many people had been to grad school.

Agreed. 5/7 of my group either held or was in the process of getting a graduate degree. I think that's one thing this school specifically looks for (my own speculation of course lol).

In my cohort, 3/6 of us had graduate degrees, but when we combined with the cohort before us, it was 3/13. After reading through some old MSARs and other spreadsheets, it does seem that those with grad degrees are on the rise, but still less than half of matriculants.

Quick question guys - if my application is processing in AACOMAS, how do I send my letters to Marian electronically? Is this possible if I do not have my secondary yet? Thanks!

Not possible you will need a secondary before sending your letters.

I retract my answer and I apologize I didn't know you could..

You're allowed to submit letters of rec before a secondary-that's actually a good idea to get your app complete earlier. You can send in your letters through Interfolio or have them mail it in by snail-mail, but schools prefer Interfolio.

Especially this school. If you go back a page or two on this thread, admissions stated it can take much longer to process mailed in LORs. Definitely send them in paperless! 👍

My LORs took a really long time to be uploaded to the portal since I sent them through my school's rec service. I definitely agree with going paperless/using Interfolio!

In other news, this is going to be the longest week EVER! I am so pumped about Marian..I just want to have good news on Thursday night! :xf:

With great fanfare, I can announce that the portal will update for admitted students on Wednesday of this week.

Me too. Little does Marian know...I'm a little OCD when it comes to school supplies. I love new pens and notebooks and post-its. hahaha

Wow, awesome info for those that already had their interviews at Marian!! I don't think I have ever seen a school administration update like that on SDN. I wish all the schools did this for their applicants. 🙂 Very much appreciated 👍
