Marian University (MU-COM) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This wait is seriously stressing me out 🙁. I hope we hear something today.

Admin: has there been a change in the release of applicant status from the last two interview sessions? Mr. Moody said we would hear back by this Friday regardless of whether we were put on the waitlist, rejected, or accepted.

Man, I hate to sound like one of those crazy pre meds but I noticed something changed in my Marian portal thing. I used to have 2 tabs under my alternate list response form (one from when I first got wait listed, another a month after I got wait listed asking me to confirm my spot on the wait list), but now I only have 1 recorded response form (from the day I first got wait listed). Did this happen to anyone else?

Hard not to go crazy but I'm just curious.

just checked, mine has done the same thing

Has anyone that applied to the masters program heard anything back yet?

Yeah, i only have 1 tab now as well.

I applied and my file was complete very soon after the application cycle opened. Still haven't heard anything yet. Good luck!

I wonder what the change to 1 tab means... I still have 2.
I have no idea, but I can't help but feel like it's better to have both tabs since the later tab confirms that you still want to be on the wait list later on in the cycle.

When did you interview, and when were you placed on the wait list?

Interviewed 3/4, waitlisted 3/17. It might be just a temporal thing, who knows.

Perhaps. I interviewed and was wait listed in February so that might be it. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here, I really need to stop worrying about this kind of stuff haha.

A very tough decision after which there were tears, but just withdrew my acceptance. MU-COM is an amazing program with very dedicated people. Good luck to all of you 🙂

Withdrawing too to attend closer to home. Marian was very tough to pass up I loved it and the people here. Hope it goes to one of you! 🙂

Withdrawing as well! Good luck!
Thank you all! You give me waitlist hope!

How did they let you know? Call or email?
I got an email today. I am in love with this school and cannot wait to attend. My science GPA isn't as high as a lot of you guys but I'm IS, 511 MCAT and health care experience. It's been such a rollercoaster of a cycle and I hope all of you get in!

Congrats!! I'm really happy for you 🙂. I can only imagine the feeling. Did you write a letter of intent by any chance?
Thank you! I couldn't have gotten this far without all of the advice and help I've gotten from SDN. I definitely did write a letter of intent, and sent it via email to Kelly Early, who adds those to our files. I think it probably helped the adcom make a decision, but then again I really don't know how their inner workings, uh... work :eyebrow:

congrats!!!! that's absolutely amazing. Would you mind sharing some stats? Are you in state?
I am in state. Science double major with a liberal arts minor at a large state university. My MCAT was a 507 and my GPA and science GPA were both around 3.6, but my grades were horrible freshman year and I improved pretty drastically after that! I also sent a letter of intent. Hope this helps some! Good luck to you and everyone still waiting!

Seems like most people that got off the wait list are in state! Congrats! Hopefully some OOS people will see movement.

I know they aim for 50% of their class to be in-state, so I imagine (if this was done intentionally) that the people who withdrew were probably also in-state as well. Balancing it out.

Has anyone heard about any additional movement of the wait list?? So much anxiety comes with waiting...

Waiting sucks! I'm wait listed at 6, now probably 7 schools and I'm terrified that I won't in into any.... 🙁

Is it too late to write a letter of intent? Will it make a difference this late in the game?

Don't feel too bad. Marian is the only school I'm waitlisted at. I'm watching my email like a hawk!

I'll be withdrawing from the WL here after plan A fortunately worked out. Marian looks like a great school, and I was hoping for the chance here a little earlier! Good luck everyone!

Marian has been super quiet for the past month, no reply from an email I sent them a couple weeks ago, no replies from the MUCOM sdn account here, and it doesn't seem like there has been much WL movement based on the activity here (although I am well aware that not everyone uses sdn).
