The MD-PhD application consists of three separate forms:
Instructions for the Statement of Interest Form
The MD-PhD Program at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
Instructions to Applicants
Thank you for your interest in our MD-PhD Program. Please read through these instructions carefully, as they explain the materials needed to complete a formal application to the dual degree program. Along with the statement of interest and the AMCAS Combined Medical Degree/PhD Application, you are required to complete the Geisel Secondary Application in order to be reviewed by our MD-PhD Admissions Committee.

Statement of Interest
Please complete the form called "MD-PhD Statement of Interest Form" using the following instructions:

  1. Review the Dartmouth Graduate Studies website carefully. The website provides important information about our research faculty at Dartmouth and should be thoroughly examined.
  2. Indicate at least one and no more than three graduate programs in which you are interested.
  3. Select at least eight and no more than twelve faculty members whose research interests align with your own and who are members of at least one of the three graduate programs you have selected above.
We will use this information to determine the department(s) and faculty that will evaluate your application for graduate study. Your choices will also influence our selection of faculty with whom you will meet should you be invited to interview. On the basis of information available in your written application, the Geisel MD-PhD Program may identify additional faculty whose research interests align with yours. If you have indicated interest in the MD-PhD Program, your application to the Geisel School will be held in a separate pool until both applications have been received. Please send your completed Statement of Interest form as an enclosure toGeisel.Admissions@Dartmouth.edu. January 4, 2016 is the deadline for receipt of all application materials but earlier completion is strongly recommended. If you decide not to complete this application and wish to be considered as a candidate for the MD program only, it is your responsibility to check the appropriate line on the Geisel Secondary Application. Applicants not admitted to the dual degree program will be referred to the Admissions Committee for consideration for the MD-only program. In either case, candidates will be notified as quickly as possible regarding potential interviews.

The Geisel School of Medicine offers excellent combined degree opportunities. This application process is designed to determine whether there is a good match between your interests and abilities and the strengths of our program. We are very glad to answer any questions that arise and help in whatever way we can to facilitate this process. Please visit the Geisel School of Medicine website or contact the Office of Admissions at (603) 650-1505. We look forward to learning more about you through your completed application.

Sincerely yours,

Brian E. Lacy, PhD, MD
Professor of Medicine
Chief, Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology
