**Official PASS 2023 Endodontic Residency Interviews/Information

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Most programs will not notify you that seats are filled. You find out via word of mouth, unfortunately.
I think we all here have been relating to this channel to know about all information regarding this particular subject.

I was wondering if those who got accepted leave this forum after the good news. I believe they can be a very good resource to help everyone for future opportunities. Things like their impression of the Program Director, Faculty and Residents. The "dos" and "don'ts" they observed during their interview. I reached out to a program Director of a Program I wasn't called for an interview asking what should I do to improve my chances for the next cycle and unfortunately I didn't get any response; at least yet.

I agree.
And it would be very nice if the ones who attended interviews share their experience and questions. It would be very helpful!
Thank you

Can someone explain the reason why the programs establish deadlines for application, but contact candidates for interview weeks before the established dates?

I think I am done. I don't have the qualifications to be selected for a program when compared to other candidates.
I will follow the forum, but I think my chances are gone.
Best to all of you!

Still a bit early to say that. I think people that interview this week and have multiple interviews may cancel future interviews if accepted. Keep the faith

I tried explaining to a non-dental friend (physician) the endodontic application process and they said it didn't make sense to them. Theoretically it favors the programs but does it really? Maybe the ones that interview early and are able to interview all the best candidates...

I believe that Endo should participate in match.

Exactly, it means all of the schools that interview first get the “best” candidates and the schools at the tail end get whoever still hasn’t been accepted. Seems that all the schools would want to interview first so I don’t really understand why any would chose to hold their interviews in August

How about a little positivity man? There are others of us in here who are in the same boat and still holding out hope. You must be such a joy to speak to in real life...

Is this your first time applying?

Imagine those who have applied repeatedly and have not hear back. It's a grueling, sometimes random process.

July is also a crazy month to hold interviews... they've just graduated a class, onboarding a new class, then to try to interview the next year's class on top of that is a lot. August makes sense from an administrative perspective, but that is considered late. Doesn't make sense to me but it is what it is.

Did anyone hear anything back from Rutgers ? Today was the last day of Interviews.
Thanks

anyone know how many people Iowa is interviewing and if any spots have been given up there? just an Iowa native crossing my fingers to return there for residency 🤞🏼
When they called me last week they had at least one spot left on the 14th and 15th. I declined the interview because it is impossible for me to get there because of conflicting interview dates. Others may do the same if offered elsewhere earlier in the week. Don’t lose hope!

Best wishes to all those of you applying and interviewing this cycle! I've made a list of tips to help endo applicants on interview day, hope some of you will find it useful. I know some of these recommendations may seem so basic and common sense but believe me, I've seen many applicants make a bad impression over the years by not following these basic tips.

I confess I did not sound the most joyful and hopeful member and I apologize for that. I did not mean to bring anyone down. Indeed this is my first time applying for an Endo Program. I have over 20 years of clinical experience performing all kind of procedures having Endo as my main one. I felt really disheartened after an email I got from one of the Program Directors I contacted. Nothingness what he said his committee was looking for was part of my application, reason why I vented as I did.
I will refrain from future events as such and will continue hoping for the best from other programs I applied. To @matzcake i say thank you for helping bringing me back to reality.

In all seriousness, this is great advice. Thank you! I’ll add #11 just for laughs. 11. Try not to let your temp crown on #2 fall out while you’re talking (me). Don’t worry guys, bringing a packet of temp bond with me 🤣 Good luck to everyone interviewing and those still waiting.

Thank you for posting this. From your experience, how does one come prepared?

OHSU, Email 07/07 for 2-Step Process Interview

Step 1: July 13 interview (virtual), 12-15 candidates
Step 2: July 27 interview (in-person), 6-7 candidates

Best of luck to everyone with upcoming interviews! 🙂
Have you received the interview and logon information?

Does anyone have a temple interview other than the 18th and is willing to switch?

Hi guys,
Good luck to everyone!
For those who had interviews, can you please post your experiences, questions they asked, and let us know the overall experience please?
We'd really appreciate it!

Are programs ever forgiving if you have two interview offers for the same date? Is it looked down upon to ask one program to switch the interview date if possible?

Unless one of the programs has a second interview date and you can trade with someone or mayyybe they will let you interview virtual, chances are you will have to say yes to one interview and decline the other. Just an unfortunate part of the process. Programs with one interview day don’t have much flexibility on the matter.

I originally had Louisville for the 15th but called the program director to change to the 18th since Houston is the 15th. Louisville happened to have two interview dates. PD seemed very understanding.

In terms of coming prepared, one thing is to make sure you review your own CV and what you wrote in your application. That way if the interviewers ask specific regarding your resume or CV, you don't stumble trying to answer.
Also, I recommend researching which faculty are at the program you are interviewing at and be familiar with the type of research they do.
A common question they ask is what type of research you are interested in doing, so it's always nice to have some possible topics you want to do research in.
Also, come prepared with specific questions regarding the school you are interviewing at and not just all generic questions that can apply to any school.
