I’m in!! I got the call around 10 am! Yay!
Why in the world would anyone go to this school??? Look at the tuition and tell me it’s worth 400k plus with growing interest to make 120 k if your lucky as general dentist lol.

Damn. why you gotta be like that??? I’m excited, do you have to ruin this for me?

I’m trying to help you out bro and everyone on this thread. This school is a rip off and will bury you in crippling debt. You realize interest accrues from day one of school.

Because most of us in this thread have a life long dream of becoming a dentist and are willing to risk going through “crippling debt” in order to achieve that. That’s why we’re all here right? Plus there are other schools that have just as high of a tuition...

Well it’s one of the best clinical schools in the country and we will graduate far more marketable than most.. btw where are you going? All I see is you trolling people attending pricier schools.. for me and probably many others it wasn’t a choice but just where we got accepted so don’t be so rude, we were blessed enough to gain an acceptance this cycle so for me it is worth not wasting another year of my life and salary trying to reapply and get accepted somewhere cheaper.

I'm a first year dentist, graduated from MWU-IL last year.

You are definitely not wrong in term of the amount of loan that's overwhelming. So, in my honest opinion, if anybody can go to a cheaper school, go to the cheapest one!

I can say tho that the school prepared me well to be a general dentist. Not so many from my class go to GPR/ AEGD programs. Many of the ones that do said that they are not learning much more from the residency, cuz MWU prepared them well enough.

One thing you're wrong tho is the general dentist income... you are definitely underestimating the demand for dentists or you may not have done enough research to make that claim. As an associate, working in a private practice or corporate, nobody is making less than 120k .. lol! If somebody give you that offer, I got a news for you... you've been lowballed!! 🤣🤣🤣

Hi, do you mind sharing some more info about where you work now? Are you still in the Chicago area? It's concerning when I keep reading we have to move to the middle of nowhere after graduation in order to put a dent in our loans

Here's the thing about loan: it's huge, but there are many ways to handle it. If you can afford to pay them off aggressively, do it. If you can't, don't worry too much about it. Many people, including me, have other priorities. The most important thing is to not get into default. Be smart about it!

It is true that you can make more money if you move to the middle of nowhere. By doing so, you can also save money by not paying too much on living cost. But, keep in mind that you don't have to stay there forever! Just do what makes sense to you!

That said, staying in Chicago is definitely a possibility. From my experience, none of my classmates struggles to live comfortably even when they live in big cities.

aww

People worried about tuition are understandably worried about how much of their doctor's salary is going to get chopped off, rather than being excited for a chance to care for patients in need. Midwestern is an incredible school, and the high pricetag is because they offer a lot more than many other dental schools + its private.

Don't listen to that other guy. You could be paying more for less, and many students, including me, are hoping for that same call. Be proud of it.

I'm visiting the area at the end of May to look for apartments, and I was wondering if it was possible to walk around campus too and show my parents around? I remember during my interview, it was somewhat a gated entrance and that all the doors had card access. I'd still look to just walk around, I supposee if possible

You would have to contact admissions and let them know you would want to come on campus. They need to let security know that they are expecting visitors. Otherwise, you might be turned away at the front gate. During the White Coat Ceremony would be another time you would be able to show your parents around campus and you will have your ID card and building access.

I did this, I just called them and gave them my name and said I was an accepted student asked if I could come in that day to campus to show my parents around and they spoke to security and allowed us in!

Just got an acceptance call and I was put on the waitlist!! I can’t believe it... I’m still waiting for that email to confirm this. For those who got accepted, how long did they take to send you the acceptance email from the time they call you?

Does anyone know how parking will work on campus?

There's plenty of parking on campus. They have a parking deck with 4 levels and parking around some of the buildings.

Oh okay cool, and you don’t have to pay to park?

Anyone start applying for loans yet // how much are you taking out lol scared

Lol I just did all the application stuff on the portal plus the FAFSA, I think the grad plus loan is how mostly everyone will be paying for the majority of school

Does anyone know if you drop below a 3.0 sGPA will it affect your acceptance? (If already accepted?)

Can students get dental work done at a reduced cost? Like say if someone wanted ortho work?

So I just want to make sure I’m understanding this right: we won’t be getting our refund until September 13th and this includes the money used to pay for living expenses?

Yup! That's how it is. Also, they split the refund for living expenses by each quarter. So you will not get all of it in September.

Okay thank you, that’s what I figured but I wanted to double check. When should we be receiving our award letters?

I was notified via email that my initial award letter was on the portal at the end of April. It depends when you submitted all financial aid paperwork to the school.

I was accepted back in December and I did all the paperwork shortly after. Also, I did my Masters at the school last year so I knew to get the paperwork in early.

Any current students living at TGM Willowbrook? I am currently looking to rent there but have read iffy reviews. Mostly concerned about the spiders, mice and ants that some people have mentioned.

Oh boy...

I had my interview really late in May 16th and I just got an acceptance call from Dr. Jham at 1:20 PM PST!!!

I will see everyone in the fall!!!
Congratulations! You must be over the moon. Do you mind sharing your stats?
