Traditional and closed file. The questions are just to see how you think on your feet
Congrats on getting accepted. I wish i was you right now... I have my interview next week. Are the questions pretty similar to what they are on the interview feedback page aka ethical scenario/no right or wrong answers (Is there ever a situation where stealing a loaf of bread would be wrong/Should casinos be illegal bc the addiction to gambling are rising, etc...) Or are they more about yourself and what you've accomplished, why you want to become a dentist, etc..

Can you give us some tips/advice on the interview? What kind of questions did they ask you? I'm so nervous for my interview :/
I mean, I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask for advice about interviews. Sure seems like this is going to be the fifth program I get waitlisted at, lol. All I can say is that the questions are a little unorthodox, which can be nerve-racking for some. This is cliché, but it's best to just be yourself and find ways to stay relaxed before and during the interview. There really are no right or wrong answers for their questions. As long as you know yourself, you'll be just fine.

I will agree with this! There is no right or wrong answer. To me, I felt like they wanted to see if my values matched what they were looking for and if I could think quick on my feet. No questions really came as a surprise to me. It’s laid back and everyone is super friendly! It’s true, just be yourself! Smile a lot, show them youre a great fit, and enjoy it!

What do you mean by unorthodoxed? A lot of the questions people posted on the interview feedback site seemed like normal interview questions. Do they sort of do a mix?

I just thought the questions were much different than what I got at the other four interviews I attended. I mean, I was still able to answer everything, but it was still weird not hearing some of the more "basic" questions. Might be different for you, though.

Just turned down my acceptance here at MWU-IL after being waitlisted since December. Hope one of you guys hear back soon!

Accepted off of waitlist today after being waitlisted December 3rd. I am putting deposit down, waiting for UIC waitlist movement. If I don’t get in there I will be going to Midwestern!

Does anyone know if we need to maintain our GPA once we've already been accepted? I didn't see anything about it in the matriculation agreement (that I can remember) but I'm having major senioritis and hope thats not the case hahah

Everything I've read so far has indicated that midwestern's interviews are mmi and closed note.

Are you sure you're not confusing it with another one?

They are no longer using the MMI format this interview cycle. The interview is a closed file with 2 faculty members and a dental student. I interviewed in November and this was format.

This a little off topic, but when people who go to Midwestern want to go out and have a good time, what bars would you suggest that they go to? I’m looking to gauge the atmosphere in the area before I come to visit the campus.

Thanks

I did the Master program at MWU-IL. The area around the school is suburban. There is downtown Downer's Grove that has restaurant and bars. Also, some people would go to Naperville for there bars. If you wanted to go to downtown Chicago it's a 20-30 min drive longer if there's traffic or take the train (about 1 hour). Being close to a big city allows for a lot of fun things to do. There is a lot of cultural attractions, zoo, and other fun things. There is a lot of variety of things to do based on what you like to do in your free time.

It was Dr. Jahm and Dr. Kradsiela (I'm not sure I spelled their names correctly). There was no dental student for me.
Did you write thank you notes to your interviewers>

Yesterday 3/14 right? Congrats on the acceptance! I thought they would let us know next week..
who did you interview with?

Ya Thursday. I interviewed with the Spanish woman and the dr with the Italian last name too many names to remember !

Can you give me some examples of some of the questions they might ask pleaseee
I would suggest using the interview page that sdn has that gives examples of questions asked. They ask a lot of questions that have no right or wrong answer, they just want to get a sense of your personality.

Hey guys,
the next morning around 4 AM right after I interviewed, I got the "Thank you for visiting Midwestern University..." email, so does it mean anything? I just want to know if they just send it to everyone who have been interviewed? because I interviewed last Tuesday and haven't hear anything from them yet.

They just sent it out to everyone who interviewed. It doesn't mean anything. You should hear back sometime within this upcoming week. At least that's what they made it seem like during the interview that you should hear back within about a week or so. It all depends on when the committee meets to review your file.

If you call them, they will let you know the status of your application.

Turns out I got alternate listed. I have no idea the chances of matriculation off the alternate list, but i just gotta hope something happens /:

Were any of your portals updated yet? Or did they tell you if they would be sending out an email?

My portal was updated to show incomplete pre-reqs the day after my interview. I called them for an explanation of this, and they straight up told me I was put on WL. maybe this is their way of making sure you get labeled as waitlisted?

They said they sent out letters and I should wait for those because it'll have more info on them, but there wasn't any clear indication of me getting alternate listed yet if that's what you're asking.

Interviews are being offered until end of April! Have faith and good luck to you all =)

Has anyone who interviewed this week heard anything back from admissions?

What are some major changes the incoming D1’s can expect? Changes for the better right???? Haha
Haha well I know that the worst science course in history is being dissolved and split into different courses. Literally everyone failed the first exam for that course so yeah that’s great for you! Also you guys will finish all of your science courses I believe within D1 year and will have less time in SIM clinic your compared to our class. Everything else is up in the air at this point I think hahaha.

I have paid the initial $200 deposit (surprisingly small) and I am wondering when the next deposits are due?

Are they due a certain period of time after the first has been paid? And does anyone know how much?

I don’t think I’ve seen anything about additional deposits, I’ve only seen info about the background check and vaccinations/ physical

ya same. I assumed that as it got closer to the start of classes additional increasing deposits would present themselves to ensure a committed class.

Anyone interview in March and hear anything yet?
