I'm pretty much just using the study guide to study for it (my exam happens to be on Friday) and I'm not the strongest in gen chem.
Any tips on taking it (whether it be topics to focus on, formulas to know, or time management) would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: is it more heavy on chem II?
So I just finished my first year of college as a pre-med student. I didn't do too well in General Chemistry 2 (got a D) and I wanted to know if my chances were going to be affected at all for medical school. The professor was really bad and about 15 people dropped because they were doing that...
Currently I've volunteered at a hospital ER for 150 hrs, started this internship program in another one (going to be 100+ hours when I complete and this hospital is my university's one so hopefully that's a plus), recently started volunteering with the Red Cross, and will start an RA position at...
Hello all
I'm taking two years off before I plan on going to medical school. I'm currently interviewing at several places to be a Clinical Research Coordinator and I was wondering what other's experiences have been. Some questions of mine...

Hi all,
Would love to get your feedback on what MCAT would I need with my stats and background to get into a MD school. Currently, my highest MCAT practice has been a 506 on Next Step, taking the test 6/16.

Hi, guys. I need some advice on my GPA in college and status as a premed.
I'm currently a sophomore at Brandeis University. I'm majoring in Neuroscience and Biology with minor in Philosophy.
To get right to the point, I have a 3.2 GPA right now which is very poor. I've been doing poorly in Gen...
Hi guys! This is my first post here. Basically, I'm a senior in high school trying to decide where to go next year (down to the wire, I know haha). My options are TCNJ/NJMS 7 year program, Washington and Lee, or Tulane. I got scholarships at all of these schools, so cost is not really a factor...
So I have been having a hard time deciding whether to apply this cycle or wait until next cycle.
Gpa: 3.55
sgpa: 3.58
MCAT: yet to take but have been getting 506
So with the mcat I'm scheduled for june which I already feel is late and i know pushing it off i can have a higher score but it will...
I was talking to someone earlier and they said that med schools didn't look positively on a 3 y/o recommendation. I was under the assumption that I should ask for a recommendation as soon as I finish a class (regardless of when I'd be applying) so the professor still remembers me especially if I...
Hey everyone, I came across this site a few weeks ago and finally decided to join. I have a lot of questions as I just recently decided to persue medicine. I have always been interested in health care, but I have been held back many times for various reasons. I attended a community college right...
Hello,
I'm currently a high school senior and I'm about to make my final decision on my undergrad institution. I'm narrowed down to these three choices and I have no idea where to go next with this; thus, I turn to SDN. Does anyone have any insight of the premed programs at these school...
Hey everyone,
I'm new to SDN so hello! Like most here, I have many questions about applying to med school, MD vs. DO, and how realistic my chances would be getting into either of them.
My college experience has not exactly gone how I would have thought (or liked) it to go. I ended up...
I took Statistical Methods which is under economics for one of my requirements and wasn't sure if it could be included in the bcpm gpa. In the pre-health office they recommend this class to all the students for the stats requirement for a couple of courses (it really wasn't geared towards...
I've been calculating my chemistry II grade and there's a strong probability I'll be getting a C+ since it's highly likely I won't do too good on the ACS final, that being said with all my other science grades inc this C+ I'd have a 3.81 sGPA and around a 3.85 cGPA.
I've heard the general...
Do they even? I'll be applying where my gen chem bios and gen bios will be 4-5 years old (the rest 1-3), but I'll have taken the MCAT less than a year before applying (not sure if this makes a difference). Does it reflect badly
I've been searching around and could only find info for dental...
Hi guys
I'm currently studying for the May 19th MCAT and decided just last month that I wasn't going to apply this year as I don't feel I am ready the app cycle. Especially since I won't be sure what my MCAT score will be.
Anyways, I'm looking for some advice. I hope to apply 2018, which will...
I'm a nursing student pretty far into my education and currently have only completed gen bios and gen chem. I do plan on being a doctor but I originally planned to take 1 gap year, but as far as licensure goes, I'd probably have sent in my secondaries (given I get some lol) before I'm even...
1) I'm currently planning to take 1 gap year given I take orgo I & II in summer, my physics during the semesters, and biochem the following summer. I'm planning to take the MCAT in Jan 2019 which would mean I could apply into the 2019-2020 application cycle. (2 summer classes vs 4)
2) The...
Hello!
I have learned that I was scheduled for an interview at Scripps. Im pretty excited but pretty nervous too.
I got the instruction materials for the interview and saw that I would be attending class as part of the interview. Does anyone know what this part is about? Im wondering if I need...
Hello, I'm finishing my masters after completing my bachelors of nursing (Im a RN). Now the courses i am doing right now are pre-reques for medical school, such as calculus and vectors and physics. My questions is from my school record (including my nursing school and completing these pre-reques...
As per change of events I'll be taking far less credits in summer than originally intended and it seems like every program I've looked into so far (primarily research and health policy internships/volunteering/programs) deadlines have passed in the tri state area.
Does anyone know of anything...
Hi I need some solid advice here. I graduated with a degree in Medical Laboratory Science from Nigeria with a 4.25 out of 5 cgpa and a 4.5 sgpa and would like to pursue medicine here in the U.S. I had some people advise me to do a post bacc and then apply to medical school but then I feel like I...
Hello all,
I'm in desperate need of advice and options for my future. To help you guys understand where I'm coming from, and where I'm going, I'll give you a little information about me.
I am a female Junior in a Psychology (B.S.) undergraduate program in South Carolina. I have fulfilled all...
I started my pre med pre reqs late so I'm playing a game of catch up at this point.
So far my summer classes are Calc I, Ochem I, and in the future biochem (maybe Ochem II).
Originally I was planning to take ochem I & II and physics I & II in summer so in general what's better, taking biochem...
Given you come in with a strong gpa, but while maintaining 19+ credits doing it.
Not sure if it would be irrelevant or if it's like how summer classes and cc classes are viewed at a different level sometimes.
Stupid topic to post on here and far too many pre meds proving my point. The gist of this originally was stating how nursing professors/programs encourage the turf war/impose the insecurity onto nursing students for no good reason.
I'm aware doctors are far more educated than nurses. I'm a BSN...
I had a B+ in chemistry I and I'm going to have to work for a B+ in chemistry II as well. Should I just drop pre med? My gpa is 3.89 currently and as far as my upper maths and biology courses I've gotten As and I'm more of a math person and if AP physics is any indication of gen physics I should...
Hi Everyone,
Was just wondering what my chances of applying in the upcoming D.O. cycle were and shot of acceptance.
3.61 cGPA and 3.4-3.5 sGPA
501 MCAT (actually improved, I know it is low)
400 shadowing hours at a competitive internship: rotated weekly with 10 different medical specialties...
I was looking up upper tier schools and as per requirements organic chem II seems to not be there. Just biochem in it's place.
Also I was able to compare my university's curriculum (state school) with some the private schools around me and apparently lots of universities orgo I & II just cover...
Hi,
I just got accepted into HES's Postbac Pre-med program and I am slightly confused on what the program truly does for you. I took the majority of my pre-reqs at UVM (where I have a bachelors degree), so I qualify for a committee letter at UVM, and it says to qualify for HES's committee...
I'm sorry if this gets long but I want you to get an accurate description of my situation and hopefully get some meaningful feedback and tips.
I went through a lot of personal issues during my Freshman and Sophomore year and consequently did poorly and had to retake classes in order to move on...
I have recently been stuck on the question - "What are you nervous about for Dental School?"
Was this question brought up in anyones interviews? Thanks!
Hello All!
I have applied to 6 post bac programs. I have heard back from the first one, and was accepted, but I have to confirm in 9 days. I am nervous that I won't hear from the other programs in that time frame. If I accept the offer and then get accepted by my other choices, I am afraid I...
