wow... i was complete 8/14 and nothing! jeez.

wow... i was complete 8/14 and nothing! jeez.

Well, I was complete on 9/2 and invited for an interview on 9/23... I don't think there's really a correlation between when you were complete and when they are going invite/reject you. Seems like they went through the entire pool of applicant at least a few times, and I'm sure they continue to do that, but at this point when you were complete doesn't seem to matter... just my idea of selection process at BU.

I'm glad that I could be of some help to you! I have no problem answering any questions about BU, and I'll be very honest, giving MY opinion on what I like and what I don't like. As for Amelia, I remember his posting a longggg post last year after I interviewed and me thinking "wow, I'd never want to go to a school like that, it must suck if someone hates it this much." But, having done exactly what you say should be done, judging by yourself, I realized how much I liked BU. So anyways, everyone should try to make their own judgment call about BU but if anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I may see you during the lunch time of interviews...I think a lot of students like doing these lunches, mostly because we want to share own opinion about BU and give some honest feedback and somewhat because of the free food. You'll find out that you schedule your meetings during the day depending on what kind of food is available there haha. Good luck!

Thanks eagle!!! I don't even know what questions I have about BU at this point...I guess I have to get there first, see the school, talk to people, then I will know if I like it or not and if I have any specific questions.
But thank you anyways 🙂

8/26 and still nothing. I can't believe some of you have been waiting over three months, I'm dying at almost two months. I'm pretty terrified of opening my inbox and getting a rejection email though.

8/29 and still nothing...

I guess I should be glad that I haven't been rejected yet, but this delay is giving me useless hope!

so i got rejected on friday after being complete around 9/29. f*** my life lol

BU does not have merit scholarships. I thought this may be useful for decision making process.

Today I found out...Interview invite 😀 🙂

Waiting is a good sign 😉

You're my new hero! Here's to hoping the rest of us wait-ers have the same outcome as you! Congrats!

Thanks secret! I hope waiting is a good thing, then! 😉

Congrats! When were you complete?

I am still waiting, but I was complete 9/5...
Complete 7/31...yeah. Long time ago.

Yay, I have a sliver of false hope to hang on to. By the way, are you gonna go, considering you have UVa already?

I should have made that clear...my fault! 😳 But if I don't get tufts, I still want to schedule boston at the same time as another east coast school.

Yeah, def, flights are so expensive. I have my fingers crossed for ya. 🙂

my first interview invite --- i am in shock!
got it this morning...i was complete 9\17.

BU invite today too! complete 8/14 lol

Congrats to all of you! So we have 3 invites today with completion dates of 7/31, 8/14, and 9/17...I don't understand the order they're doing it in at all, but I can't decide whether all these invites are making me gain hope or lose hope 🙁

Also, around when are all of your interview dates?

Congrats to all... gives me hope too!

Complete on 9/5. I called today and I was told that I'm "under review." Not sure if that literally means I'm under review...

I scheduled mine for Dec 1. I was also give the option of Nov 19 and Dec 5 but I have a midterm the 19th and a final on the 5th. I asked them if I can schedule the week AFTER the 5th since I will be back east then anyway (in Connecticut) and they said that they weren't doing interviews after Dec 5. I really don't want to freak anyone out that is still waiting - it may very well be that they aren't very good about letting you reschedule.

Oh well, guess I'm flying from Seattle to Boston and then back to NYC in the span of two weeks....

I believe this is true. If I remember correctly the dean of admissions mentioned that from early Dec. until their initial decisions in early Jan., they stop interviewing in order to discuss appplicants for the Jan. decisions. Then they continue their interviewing process.

Mine is scheduled after December and I had no choice. GMS students have separate interview slots so that might play a role in the scheduling conflicts.

Two months of waiting doesn't actually mean anything. Rejection today, complete on 8/26. 🙁

My application has been completed since 8/15. Many of my friends got rejection from BU already. I am still alive and kicking it seemed. Got two emails from BU stating that 1. they had some technical difficulties with LORs, and 2. they are backed up and reviewing. I feel somewhat uneasy since invites are continually being given to people who completed after I did. Oh well, no news is good?

My rejection came in a little less than 3 weeks
Complete 10/3, Rejected 10/21

got rejected today also....getting rejected on the weekend sucks lol

Does BU have a status change to "Under review"? I'm still at the "Complete" phase after two months, so I'm wondering if they really haven't even looked at my application yet.

Yeah...I was in the same position. I think it's similar to a hold. Ended up getting an interview invite after a 2 and a half month wait.

yeah... i just got their int invite yesterday. and i've been done for about 2 months. Strangely, their interview slots are already half booked.. the earliest available one was December. Feels like BU is majorly behind.... or ahead?

congrats everyone!

I got my BU interview a couple of weeks ago...

Just wondering, how are you all preparing for this interview and does anyone have an interview on the 17th of Nov?

My worst fear came through...rejected :-(...

3 rejections within a 7 day period...I am not having a good day.

I thought BU interviewed in order of secondary completion. is that not true?
I could be mistaken, but I believe that BU circulates each application through a series of independent screeners, each of whom must make their own judgments on whether or not a candidate should be interviewed or rejected. Each screener is most likely responsible for a specific aspect of the application (for example, one might examine only numbers, while another might examine only extracurricular activities). Therefore, how quickly a decision is rendered has more to do with whom the school assigns to the application than it does when the application was officially complete.

This timeliness issue comes into play at many schools, especially at those that receive a substantial number of applications. That's why some applicants will receive interview invites or rejections before others, independent of their completion dates.

oh ok. thanks for the info! does anyone know if this means all of these people need to say yes? or is it a percentage of the people? bc when i talked to admissions they said that my numbers are low but i have a decent chance of getting in based on my activities, etc...

They received my final LoR, complete today. Official rejection soon to follow - it was a really long shot anyways. Sad 🙁

don't be so negative bro. stay positive!

Thanks, for the words of encouragement. It's hard not to be negative when you read peoples' stats who've been rejected post-sec by BU and they're amazing. 35+ MCAT, rockin' cGPA/BCPM, steller EC's. It's very intimidating.

You're looking at it in a glass-half-empty way. Instead, just look at the stats of all the people who DID get interviews/acceptances and have lower numbers to you; there's bound to be quite a few.

I actually do agree with you. I've learned that the internet makes me paranoid because you only read about the blogs/posts from the pre-med gunners and not the average pre-meds. I was just being pessimistic because I'm really want to hear from them. You know, prepare for the worst, so just in case it does happen you were already expecting it type of thing. Stupid application process. Argh. 😡

Hey all,

I've been complete since 9/4. I HAVE NOT received any form of email from BU except for the completion email. Most of the people on SDN have received the "be patient" emails, but I have not..

Does that mean anything.....?
