Please check out mdapplicants.com for this information. One of the most appealing aspects of Mt. Sinai to me was that students there do not seem to attach much hype to numbers. I hope we can set this precedent for next year's class and keep the GPA/MCAT talk to a minimum.

I definitely feel like Sinai look beyond number as well.

That's the beautiful thing about the MCAT (and GPA). Once you're in medical school: Noone cares! 🙂

I just got an interview invitation. At this point is it just for a waitlist spot?

I'm really confused...I just got an interview invite, and I was complete in August.

I was completely convinced that MSSM wasn't even a possibility.

aloepathic, did you call admissions to see if their class is full?

two invites today! maybe there is hope for me....

I called but a lady with a very heavy Indian access answered and didn't seem to understand what I was asking (I was trying to be as light-footed on the issue as possible). She said that there were still spots, but in general was pretty unhelpful. If you try PLEASE let me know if you figure anything out.

ok, will do...I actually can't go on the day the scheduled (next week, conflicting with a midterm). So I'm going to try to switch it to spring break week.

But I don't think they would interview if you didn't have a chance...my personal hunch is the class is not full.

i called today to give them an "in the area" update. the admissions lady said they were still offering interviews. I doubt its a lot of offers since i heard they only interview into the first week or two of march. but it is what she said, so i guess theres still SOME chance

Question! I am on the waitlist (sigh) and want to write a LOI to Dean Muller, is it appropriate to email it to him? Or do I need to C/O is through the admissions office? Anyone in the same situation have any advice?

called today and she seemed to imply that this was the last week for giving out interviews barring a cancellation i suppose. so sad

I work at MSSM and know many current med students who interviewed even late into March and were admitted without being waitlisted. As of two weeks ago they were still sending out emails to those students involved in the admissions process to come help screen candidates b/c (my impression was from the students) that they had more applications left than they felt they should.

I got an interview invite yesterday too and I was wondering if anyone knows the number of people they interview and the total number of students they accept?

ah! I hope I get invited in the next two day then. I really want to interview at MSSM

Even if I were to receive an invite, I doubt that I'd be able to work it into my upcoming schedule. I am starting rehearsals for a show, and I only have March 6-12 as approved conflicts in my contract (I'm not allowed any more rehearsal conflicts)...

That would really not be cool if I got an invite and then couldn't go to the interview. Not that I'm going to get an invite - I've pretty much given up hope for Sinai.

On the contrary, I consider myself very fortunate this cycle. I have been accepted to one of my absolute dream schools (Maryland) despite the seemingly insurmountable odds (OOS acceptance rate is ~2.6%) and been offered an interview at an incredible school that was quite a reach for me.

An interview at Sinai would be the icing on the cake.

does anyone know how often the adcom meets, and if so, when is their next meeting?

i think they meet every week and discuss your file for 4 weeks and then make a decision? something along those lines is what we all came up with from calling and asking lol

I just got a call from Sinai (woke me up too!) telling me that I've been invited to interview?! They were like, sorry for the short notice but you are scheduled to interview this Friday. I asked her if the interview will be for waitlist spots and she said "no, there are still a few spots left in the class and we still have 2 more weeks of interviews left."

I'm now reading up on the school and I like what I see so far 😍

Congrats on the late invite.

I got off the waitlist back in December after getting WL notification in mid-November (I interviewed in mid-October).

wow, I bet that's rare! I wonder if they made a mistake and then realized it a few weeks later...anyway, congrats!!

thanks! i'm guessing that was the case too...I hadn't taken any additional action on my app once I was waitlisted. Who knows.

I interviewed a few weeks ago: for those of you that have been accepted, what's the deal with drug testing? I'm only worried about a certain fat soluble molecule that I've abstained from since my interview so I should be good.Does the letter come with instructions to go to a testing center? What's the time frame?

WOW. did you update them or write them anything?

My interview is coming up soon. I was wondering if anybody can tell me how the interview works? Was it two 30 minute interviews with faculty?

Was it tough!? There isn't that much information on the feedback page, so any help would be much appreciated!!

Don't worry, they're super nice at Sinai! I had great conversations with both of my interviewers, and everyone else seemed to come out from their interviews smiling as well. I think they're mainly looking for fit, and they're certainly not trying to grill you. For everyone on my day it was two faculty members, each for about 30 minutes.

I'd suggest the usual prep strategies: reread your AMCAS, reread your secondary, get as much info as you can off of the MSSM website, chill out, and be yourself. It also doesn't hurt to think a bit about your EC's, what you've been up to if you've already graduated, and why you want to go into medicine (I mean, er, duh).

Good luck!

As the previous poster stated, it isa relaxed atmosphere. You will have 2 faculty interviewers roughly 30-45 minutes long, where you are expected to explain your more interesting extracirrcular experiences.

One of my faculty interviewers wanted to know what I thought of the current state of healthcare and what I would do to remedy the situation.

You can pm me if you have any questions.

Best of luck!!

Any body heard anything yet for Sinai? Especially those who interviewed in Feb?

So do you guys have any idea how many people are on the WL and/or what the chances of getting off look like?

There's a Mount Sinai waitlist thread from last year.
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=517951&highlight=mount+sinai

They're a little confused whether it's 150 or 400 people on the alternate list,
but it seems like 400 are offered to be placed on the alternate list (150 is WAY too few)
and about 40~100 will be accepted in the end.
I don't think there would be any movement before May 15th.

any recent acceptaqnces?

Did you guy email letters of intent after your interview? How soon after?

It's kinda frustrating and nerve wracking. It's almost been a month since I interviewed and... I heard that Sinai is unusually quick with their decisions. Does this mean I'm rejected?? 😱

I interviewed on Thursday, and they said that Friday was the last interview day. We were told that we'd hear within two weeks--so you should as well.

so you mean that we should all hear back by 3/27?
i interviewed last thursday and they didn't mention any specific date when we would hear back

I just assumed that if the very last people to be interviewed would have decisions by then, so should those who interviewed earlier. It wouldn't seem fair to keep the earlier people waiting.

I interviewed on 2/12... no news yet. Anyone interview after that with news? I looked at the acceptance thread, looks like they send them out in batches roughly one month after interviews. I hope they don't wait til 3/27 to decide mine!!! It's my #1!

they said a 2 week turn-over at my interview as well.

I'm nervous. This is also my number one school!

The admissions committee assistant said that they are at 200-something acceptances offered out of 300 as of last week. So, tehre's still hope for a aregular acceptance!

I wish there was more definite info available, because "200-something" is a really vague term. It could mean anything from 201 to 299, and the implications for our chances are hardly the same in each case.

I thought Sinai accepts around 400 every year from the roughly 800 they interview. Is this figure of 300 the regular acceptances before they start taking people from the waitlist?

Where did the 400 number come from? I think 100 people would be the absolute maximum they would ever take off the waitlist.

According to USNews, they accepted 379 people last year, which would include those taken from the waitlist. So they probably issue about 300 initial acceptances (judging by what LoveBeatles was told), and the rest come from the WL.

I asked at my interview how much WL movement they generally have. Jessica said that last year was unusually slow--only 25 came off the WL. But she said in a more typical year they can get 50 to 100 people.
