mind if i ask when ur interview was? Mine was in mid Feb.

mine was actually on the very last day of interviews: march 13. i guess timing doesnt really make a difference when it comes to their responses

Has anyone who interviewed in early march gotten an acceptance?

Interviewed 2/17... no news. I thought the interview went great. I love the school, it's close to home, and the tuition is unbeatable. Have others from mid Feb or later heard? Thanks!

I got ACCEPTED!!! I found out a little earlier than I should have because I had to prove that I met a requirement so I ended up finding out over the phone. This wave of acceptance letters is going to get mailed out early next week so everyone who is waiting should check their mail. Best of luck to all of you!!!

Has anyone been taken off the waitlist yet? or will that not move until May 15th?

Not sure if I posted here or not, but I was accepted the third week of February, interviewed the third week of January...came in UPS overnight envelope...I thought that was pretty fast, but I have to admit that my interviews went extremely well...especially the faculty one, so I was kind of expecting this.

Do you mind if I ask when exactly your interview date was?

I don't want to give the exact date because I am superstitious and like to remain anonymous on these forums... but suffice to say it was the first week in march.

Also, do you know if they send out all acceptances for that week at the same time?

I am not quite sure, I just got my packet this afternoon via UPS. I would keep an eye on your mailbox the next couple of days... Best of luck!

any january interviewees still waiting to hear their decision post-interview? I am still in the dark....

I am not 100% sure but I am leaning toward SB just because it's so much closer to home and I just felt vibe there. Not so much with Harvard.

no disrespect, but then you would understand why people (including me) are in disbelief. no one on SDN will voluntarily chug away harvard for a state school.

ya if i were to pick a school based on interview day impression alone, i'd pick stony over all other schools i interviewed.

honestly, i am a bit worried about harvard. i have extensive research experience and publications, which are what I think made me stand out of the crowd but i don't know if i can actually survive harvard. on the other hand, stony brook felt like a friendly supportive environment. again, i haven't made my final decision and am going to discuss with friends and families. but i do really appreciate all your suggestions!

i'm sure you can survive harvard. then again i guess one has to ask if he/she will be happy at a certain school... even if it's harvard.

but having said that, i'd be tempted to go to harvard just because it's harvard.

unless you already went to harvard...

Isn't Harvard offering free tuition this year???

did anyone know when the waitlist movement will start for stony? or if there is any high priority list

thank you

I believe that there is only one waitlist. Like most waitlists, the movement starts after May 15th. If you want to get a better sense of the movement, you can look up last year's thread and see when there are waves of acceptances. I was waitlisted last year and didn't get in but I do know of many people who DID get in off the waitlist. I think that there will be a fair amount of movement.

Any news on the Stony front? Going on 7 weeks post-int for me.

Hey guys, I interviewed 2/17.
I got an email response yesterday from the admis office saying they're still offering acceptances for mid-Feb interviewees. Anyone been accepted/rejected/waitlisted yet from around that time?

10 weeks is an awful long time to wait...

I was interviewed in the first week of March and accepted in the first week of April.

hi. Does anyone have anynews??? Information from the admissions office???

If you haven't gotten an interview and are waiting to hear, I am afraid the outlook is not good.

If you have already interviewed and are waiting to hear from the admissions office about a final decision, I would call them and inquire as to when you should expect a correspondence. When I interviewed, I think they said they might be giving out acceptances as late as early may but I am not certain if that will be the case.

If you are waitlisted, the waitlist will START moving May 15th and will continue moving until the first day of orientation. If you want to get a sense of how the waitlist moves, I would suggest looking at last years forums.

Good luck!... I hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, I know the question was kind of annoying. It's been almost nine weeks since I interviewed. Admissions office couldn't give me information about my file.... I am still hoping!!!!

After 12 looong weeks with no news from Stony Brook, I finally received the acceptance letter this afternoon!!!! I was getting so frustrated by the lack of response, and truly believed that this was a sign I'd be rejected or at least waitlisted! For everyone else waiting, be patient.

Anyone knows about how many ppl withdrew from SB?
How many are on the waitlist?

They also mentioned that once you are ranked it doesnt change much.
Did any of you withdrew for another school?

I am wait listed so any comment would help a lot!

Thanks

how do you find out your ranking ?

Stony Brook does not give out any information about their waitlist (ie, number of people on waitlist, position on waitlist, etc.). If you call and ask, they will just say that they expect movement to begin today (May 15th) and to just be patient.

Were you accepted from the wait list?😱

Congrats!!! I hope I hear something soon so I can actually enjoy this summer😕

probably because i called the admissions office every day asking if there was a change or to get an unofficial commitment...i also put my cell number in the thank you note i sent him after the interview.

If I may ask, when did you interview?

I interviewed 10 weeks ago and still no word from stony.

BTW: what's an unofficial commitment and what's the point of it?

i interviewed the first week of march, so hang tight!! i really am not sure why i got a call, either just courtesy call after a reaaally long wait or to see if i had plans to go elsewhere? again, im really not sure

There has to be some seats open 😕

no waitlist movement does NOT mean that noone has dropped out!

This person for instance: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=627059 chose buffalo over SB (against my advice... see this thread http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=628074). if there indeed has been no waitlist movement that just means that not enough people have dropped out or those who dropped out were replaced with people who hadn't been waitlisted.

Got the call from the dean today around 3:00 PM EST-accepted!
