I don't think that you will get a direct acceptance (but I am not certain). However, I spoke to them yesterday and they told me that there is normally a fair amount of movement on the alternate list, so if you make it onto that list, you could very well get an acceptance. There is still hope 🙂

I interviewed on January 5th AND I haven't heard anything. Hope my file isn't lost, 🙄

I think you have a bit of a cushion before u hear back.

Just a mini-heads up for those on hold... it is possible, at least, to go from hold to acceptance this season to get a call telling you to disregard the alternate list letter that you might recieve after acceptance... !!!

Did you just get accepted off of the Hold List? If so Congratulations! I interviewed in September and was placed on Hold in November. I am still waiting to hear back from Downstate.

Any other info is appreciated.

Yes, although it might have been slightly different circumstances. I interviewed in early jan-ish, was placed on hold roughly a month ago, and then within the last two days apparently went from hold to alt to acceptance quick enough that they were worried that my alt list letter would come AFTER my acceptance.

I get the feeling that my case might not be the norm, but best of luck.
 
I am on the Alternate List and I noticed that my "application checklist" has just gotten a lot longer and now includes medical immunizations and things like "white coat form". Does anyone else on the alternate list notice this change on their application checklist?

It has been 8 weeks since my interview and still nothing... Anyone else who interviewed around that time hear back?

I'm not sure if i'm the atypical case, but I interviewed first week of January, and have heard nothing back.

In Week 11+ right now..

It's not really atypical... Typical wait is around 10ish. If I had to guess I'd say you would hear back this week or next week (if not you should call just to double-check).

To the other person though, at 8 weeks you most likely have 2-3 weeks more of waiting.

Again though, anything is possible - just depends on your interviewer and presenter.
 
I withdrew my application this past week so hopefully one of you guys get my spot!! 🙂 Good luck to everyone.
 
Interviewed 2.11 still have heard nothing wth? I wish they would just hurry up and give me a rejection or acceptance so I can move on with my gd life.

unfortunately, it might take a few weeks longer. my interview was 12/18 and i finally heard from them on 3/12. since its a couple of months after, it might be even worse

I interviewed Jan 5th and called today (after waiting 12 weeks) and was told that a decision has been made and to expect something this week. It seems the class is already full, so another waitlist for me, but at least its better than not knowing.

Hang in there.

No, as far as I know, an admissions office rarely (if ever) will state specifics about enrollment over the phone.

From what I read on this thread and gleaned from talking to a few friends I know at Downstate that are involved with admissions it SEEMED that the class is full. I was just speculating based off of that.

nah, if you look a few posts above, or maybe like a page or two back, people got letters saying they were on the alternate list because the class is currently full. but... we know that it most likely will have a lot of movement... at least that's what im' hoping too.

still waiting to hear back here

definitely, since people are withdrawing now. my hunch is that movement won't start till may 15th when the dust settles and people finished withdrawing their spots.
 
Hi guys and gals, I was wondering if anyone from the February 17th interview date received anything regarding their status yet? It's approaching the 8th week and I know some of you waited 12 weeks, but I thought turn-around time should be quicker since its almost the end of the cycle. Thanks.
 
I think I remember a few ppl said that they found out that they were accepted/waitlisted after noticing a change on their status page while waiting to receive something via snail mail.

Can any accepted (or waitlisted) students confirm this?

I was told a decision on my file was made prior to Monday, have not received anything yet (though I live about 30 mins. from the school) and there is no change on my page. Am I out of luck?

Everyone received an e-mail with a log-in/password to keep track of the LoR's, transcripts, etc. received by the admissions office. They put a green check next to everything that has been received. I think I read that some people after being accepted also had some financial aid info, etc. also listed. Not sure though, could be mistaken..
 
🙁 After a 10 week wait, I got a "hold for spring consideration" letter. No change on the status page.

hm, that's weird, i checked through all my emails and i never got a login or antyhing, just an email from them with the link to the secondary

Scroll down, it's like the 3rd like in that email I think, below the application link.

my status page did not change immediately. i received the letter before it started changing.

hmmmm... weird... my email didn't get any sort of login. just the link to the secondary, then address for where to send my money. it wasn't a personal email though, it has a list of undisclosed recipients. anyone have a link to the "status" page?
 
Again, DS does NOT have a status page. The page that the link brings you to is just a static checklist. I wouldn't rely on it too much as an indication of an acceptance/rejection.

I interviewed Feb. 17th and just got a letter saying i am placed on hold for spring consideration. maybe you will have better luck than me.
 
so... this might have been asked before but it seemed like it varies. do you find out about acceptance/wait list/hold via email or snail mail?

acceptance/hold for spring via snail mail. not sure about waitlist.
 
Please correct me if I'm wrong - but from what I remember people posted above that they got several forms in the mail when they were put on the waitlist. I think it was mentioned that health forms were included, etc.
 
interviewed late january, waitlisted, withdrew

waitlist comes by snail mail with health forms that they ask you to submit in case you get off the waitlist.

is it typical for your fellow interviewees of the same date to receive a decision several weeks before you?????????? I still havent received mine!

It seems like it is typical. I can't figure out a pattern! I know someone who interviewed same day as me (Feb 9th) who received their decision a week ago. I haven't heard anything, but will call on Monday - the 10 week mark.
 
Definitely. My friend who interviewed on the same day as me got his acceptance in 4 weeks, while I had to wait 8 more weeks. Hang in there.

As the factors that go into making a decision on your file depend on the presence of all 3 people at the meeting (so I've heard) - your interviewer, the person who picked your file to be interviewed, and the person who's writing your report - it may take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks before you actually hear back from them. For me, it was 12 weeks before I got a response.

I'd suggest you wait 2 more weeks. If you still haven't heard back after 12 weeks, then give them a call.

I have a theory that since the class was reported full a week ago, it might be that instead of putting more people on the alternate list and later going through all the trouble with waitlist movement, they're waiting for a) accepted students to withdraw their spots and/or b) May 15 date.
