thanks dude.called just to make sure. they said they were sending the invites out while the earthquake happened so it affected their system. according to the woman I spoke with, it is NOT a mistake if you received the secondary but just that you won't be able to access it for a few days.
if you got one, you're good! just give it a couple days. (I hope this lady was right!)

wait, it doesnt work for me! i got the email:
1. The Supplemental Information Form (available electronically by accessing the "2008 UCLA Applicant Status Database" at http://www.medstudent.ucla.edu/prospective).
but i cant find that link for the life of me! am i blind?
yeah. it's working for me. after you click on that link, go to application status, sign in, and then click on supplemental form.
Oh! its working now. I guess they needed a few minutes to update my thing.
edit: i see in the email that they say they review completed apps from Oct-March. Does that mean that theres no advantage to submitting now vs october? (trying to prioritize the ones that are rolling now)
Check the deadline at the top of the secondary page.
well...i'm not exactly sure how important it is. as long as you can get it done in the next couple weeks (3 weeks maybe), you should be fine.hmm it says its due sept 12th. I wonder if theres any advantage to turning it in in Aug vs sept.
not very....about 5500 applications and 3000 secondaries.do you guys know how rigorously UCLA screens their secondaries?

and some good OOS applicants *cough chubby*so basically they give it to every in state applicant, pretty much. 😛
so just to clarify one more time...
is ucla rolling or non-rolling before sept 12th? I wanted to know whether I should rush this one or not (I have a bunch of other schools to rush)
Call and ask? 👍
I'd like to know this too.
This secondary is pretty lame. Very open questions in very different areas with shallow 800 character responses=fail.
Can a volunteer activity be considered an extracurricular activity (like working in a soup kitchen)?
all i could get out of the lady was "i wouldnt worry about it"
If you're asking "Can I write about working in a soup kitchen for the prompt that asks for a volunteer activity?" then the answer is yes.
But you phrased the question backwards, so I'm not sure if this is what you mean.
No, I am asking if it can apply to this:
Describe involvement in the ONE most important non-academic activity that has been important in your life?
Or is this only for clubs etc?
How important do you think it is to write something for every question? I know it says its not necessary, but I'm assuming if someone left more than half blank that is bad...for instance I can't think of any honors i've achieved, let alone one that is important enough to write about.

I'd guess that they're not going to throw your app in the trash just because you didn't answer all of them, but consider this: all else being equal, whose app do you think they're going to favor, the person who has significant activities for each question, or the person who left half of them blank?
I agree - I think you should try to answer every question. If you have no formal honors, you can probably talk about an informal honor you've received.
What is an informal honor? A pat on the head from a nobel laureate?
