good luck Chuck('s right foot)!

I got my lease a couple of days ago and sent it back already 🙂 Hopefully I'll get the key soon otherwise I'll be stranded outside the Darragh apartments on Sunday (14th) night... 😀

So I am in the "first group" to be pulled for WL movement. I am in limbo! Miami starts 8/6... I guess I'll give Pitt till 7/6 and keep my fingers crossed.

weird! is that what dr. piraino wrote? seems odd she would call it the first group since the first group came and went may 15th.

but regardless, that is pretty freaking exciting!
🙂

I think he means the first group as of now. Very exciting indeed, wish I was part of that group =/

when are you guys planning to move to Pittsburgh? Are the premat people going back home (or traveling) during the two weeks between July 18th and the white coat ceremony?

I'm going on vacation! Don't know where yet...

Why did they mail us a letter giving us a @pitt.edu email address and then send us another email giving us a @medstudent.pitt.edu email address? 😕 Toooo manyyyy

I withdrew, I hope someone here gets my spot!!

The @pitt.edu address is just the general university email one. You probably won't get much email through it. The @medstudent.pitt.edu address is going to be your main one for medical school communication and the one you should check most often--like everyday, multiple times a day haha.

Have any current Pitt students used a Stafford lender that does not participate in EFT with Pitt? I was wondering how much longer it would take to get my refund if paper checks are involved.

talbo, you'd rather go to pittsburgh than stay in cali?

Of all the curriculum's I liked Pitt's the best, but the weather in CA is definitely better, but I've been here all my life and would like to experience the east coast.

If I were to get into a CA school off the WL and Pitt I would still choose Pitt bc I actually told Pitt that I would go if accepted but chances don't look too bright as of now. It would be a difficult decision for me but I would choose Pitt because of the letter I wrote and also cause of my career path, etc.

Haven't done it, but I am considering doing it. I called the financial aid department, and they said it might delay the dispersment by a week or so. I think the scenario may be 3rd to 4th week of August for EFT, and 1st to 2nd week of September if not. But, that's not for sure. Just my guess.

hey guys,

just wanted to say that i took myself off the wl this morning.

btw, i never got that "high priority wl" email. good luck to those still waiting. :luck:

I wonder if anyone has any inside information about WL movement. I got the email about 3 weeks ago asking if I was still interested... Still waiting for more info!!!

Got into the c/o 2013 today.

Holy poo.

yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah booooooooiiiiiiii!!!

👍👍👍Congratulations! I've been checking this thread religiously to see if you were going to get good news; you certainly seemed to want it more than everyone else!!! 🙂

Thanks. 3 years, and I get into Pitt?!?

Seriously. WTF. Woo hoo.

That's awesome. I'm looking forward to meeting you at orientation. So are you stressed with everything that you need to get ready? They didn't give you a ton of time to get everything done, did they?

How is the pre-matriculation program going for those of you who went?

Hey Chuck-- huge congrats!!! Been pulling for ya-- seem like a good guy.

Thanks! I'll be easy to spot. 90% chance I'll be the tallest guy there. I'm a bit stressed because they don't have all financial aid documents and my vaccine stuff is a mess.

Are you (and everyone else?) part of the facebook group? I posted a question re: hobbies....

Thanks everyone! It was a tough decision to turn down Miami, but in the long run I think I'll be happy at Pitt. I've already started talking to Dr. McIvor about my SP.

On another note, I'm looking for a shorter term (3 - 6 month lease) until my GF buys a house and moves to Pitt... anyone in a similar boat?

Just wanted to alert every one that tomorrow is the deadline to waive Health Insurances if you are already covered by spouses etc.,
When are you guys planning to move to Pittsburgh, I am planning to be there on Aug 3rd/4th
Also I logged on to the Zone site for the first time and just realized about the immunization requirements. I have not received any communication regarding this on the US Post. How did you all get notified of the requirements? Had I not logged in to the site I would have been in trouble. I have to rush now.

See you all at White Coat Ceremony

I will be in Pittsburgh July 29th. Can't wait to meet people!

I received an email at my medstudent.pitt.edu address on 6/8/09 notifying me that immunization requirements are posted on the Zone.

Thanks for the response. I was out of country whole June and did not check my email account at Pitt. I am excited to meet the rest of folks as well.

Did any of you find a lender that does not charge origination/default fees?
I went throught the lenders that do EFT with Pitt and it looks like all of them impose 1.5% fee (0.5% origination + 1% default). I did some research and Discover is the only lender that does not have any fees. But unfortunately they don't have electronic flow to Pitt. So I am in a bit of limbo here.
Any ideas?

I was going to go with Discover because I did not want to be charged fees, but ended up choosing one of the lenders that does EFT with Pitt.

Medseek, I would just think about what is more important to you: getting your loan money ASAP or not being charged fees? For me, it was very important to get my funds ASAP as I will be living on a very limited amount of money in August. I did not want to go through the hassle of dealing with paper checks with Discover.

Thanks for the advice. I went with Discover as I have some funds in reserve.
Also since the fees are not due until mid September, that should give us some time buffer.
Another question to all, does any one know of the textbooks we are going to use in first year. I was just wondering whether I could order them from Amazon ahead of time.
