the U's tuition has increased to $12,171.50 for IS and to $23,043.00 for OS. not as much as i was expecting. 👍

Is that per semester?
That would mean they went from around 18 to around 25K/year. Where did you get that info?

Last year was $21,000 not $18,000 from what I find.
But, I just wanted to point out that the link provided says SUMMER 2009, not FALL 2009...so I wonder if it is not the standard med school tuition?

yup, I just saw that it was for summer... I wonder if it'll stay that way for fall (besides, why would enough medical students take summer classes for them to come up with a tuition schedule just for the summer?)

Either way, if it stays that way for the fall, that's still somewhat cheap - at least compared to the options we have here in ohio.

Guys, that's for fall semester. There is no summer semester (but that could be changing for you guys next year). For in state, it's two times the 12,171.50, so around $25,000 in tuition. Cost of attendance for next year will be around $43,000 in total. This year, the cost of tuition was around $21,000.

I'm an idiot and can't read...

someone on the wait list should be expecting great news soon! 🙂

Someone else on the wait list should be hearing some good news. I've decided I'm done with the U. It was a hard decision but the truth is that they only made it easy for me to go somewhere else. I'm sure it is a nice school but it is disappointing to me that they don't make an effort to recruit people, and by that I mean be nice to people and send you time sensitive information in a timely manner. When they barred me from applying for financial aid, despite the fact that I requested information and guidance on multiple occasions and received none, I wasn't too keen on going there.
At any rate, good luck to whoever gets my spot.

i let them know yesterday and my official letter is going there via mail right now...🙂 i decided to go to RVU instead. Good luck! its a great school.

I am withdrawing from the Idaho alternate pool..there will probably be little movement.

Anybody know if the waitlist for U has started moving.

How were you barred from applying for financial aid? I've never met any medical student at the school that wasn't allowed to apply for financial aid. And everyone gets awarded loans to cover school at the very least.

Non-loan financial aid usually has a deadline by which you have to submit paperwork. If you don't submit the paperwork by that date, you won't be eligible for getting *real* financial aid (grants & scholarships). Not allowing flexibility in the deadline would count as "barring" from financial aid...it appears Bosco was not furnished/given access to necessary paperwork in a timely manner, and then not given any flexibility with that deadline. If another school gave you scholarships and grants, rather than confining you to loans, would you tolerate that?

Couldn't have said it better myself, thanks Pietachok. I'd also point out it was only a few hours late. I called them immediately and all they said was that they couldn't do anything for me. Obviously, I'm accountable for filling these things out myself, but I somehow got removed from the mailing list and when I asked for the info they told me they'd send it right away and then didn't. I'm not looking for a scholarship/handout (however, that'd be nice🙂), I'm just frustrated because I didn't get treated like everyone else.

Okay so I was wrong about the Idaho waitlist (I thought it wouldn't move).

I was offered a spot off the waitlist on May 14 by snail mail - however I withdrew so good luck Idaho applicants!

Are you going to Baylor? By your other posts, I see Stevie called you to let you know you got accepted...you could make a worse trade 😛. Hopefully a bigger school like Baylor has more/kinder aid to offer you! The U is having a particularly bad year, and it sounds like they chomped down on your deadline b/c it made their decisions that many $ easier.

I am new to this whole thread thing.

However, I was accepted by the U the last week of July while on my way to school at UTMB. It was a weird experience.

Do any of you know of any housing options for female students? I have less than 3 weeks...
