Congrats!!! What time did you get the email? I know, that's slightly stalker-ish, but I was complete on Sept 11 too! Eeek! (I'm IR though...)

Haha. Here, Stalker-ish = understandable....so I'm not judging! I got the email at 10:43 this morning. I don't know how IR vs OOR works, but hopefully you hear something soon!

I'm not a gunner by any means - as is evident by my late entry into the application cycle - and I just received a request for secondary application. Does anyone know if it's just really crude automated screening (ie. over X.X gpa and XX-X MCAT)?

I'm a washington resident as well. I emailed them a while ago about this and they told me they are no longer doing the automatic interviews with gpa/mcat cutoff. There is a new dean of admissions I believe.

I was doing fine before...just telling myself I have to wait a month to worry...but now that someone who was complete right when i was got an invite, I'm very anxious.

i think my application was complete a long, long time ago (i submitted like 7/5). they were just waiting for me to submit my residency material...which i forgot to do for about a month because other med school interviews came up and the academy keeps me ridiculously busy. have they not been interviewing this past month?

Yea, they have been interviewing since the first week in October. Also, I see that you submitted your app a long time ago, however, you aren't complete until they verify your residency, which should mean they didn't even look at your app to consider you for an interview until the day you got the complete email. I guess they could still go in order based on when the applicant originally applied to the school, in which case you are a few months ahead of me.

Montana interviews will be Feb 2-6 and Mar 2-6 with decisions on both Feb and Mar 6th.

I was doing fine before...just telling myself I have to wait a month to worry...but now that someone who was complete right when i was got an invite, I'm very anxious.

I am so with you. Me and Nina7123 were both due on the same day and she already got an invite and all I've gotten is crickets....The review schedule (or maybe order...?) seems to be different for IR and OOR this year though...not sure what that's about...😕

so i went back through my e-mails, they sent me a "completed" e-mail on 7/25, not 10/1. the e-mail verifying my residency came on 10/1 and they gave me an interview about a week later. sorry for the confusion! don't lose hope..

Same here. I'm in state and have been complete for several weeks. It would be so hilarious(ly sad) if I didn't get an interview here, where their class is comprised of 95% in-state applicants 🙁

Well, in my case, it was more like 0% since I wasn't MSTP applicant, and I did not apply as disadvantaged.

Your braver than I am! I'm seriously dieing inside....I made the choice not to do the second essay. I feel it was for a good reason, I tried writing it, but it wasn't coming off right. It was coming off too "poor me" and it seemed kind of inappropriate...Now I'm totally second guessing the decision!

She also said that we are welcome to call and check on our status periodically since the status page isn't useful after you are complete. Altogether very nice staff over there.

I'm a give-em-a-call type of girl, too impatient! Anyway, they said that applications are reviewed in the order of completion. She also said that we are welcome to call and check on our status periodically since the status page isn't useful after you are complete. Altogether very nice staff over there.

What is the most direct number we can use?

Oh my god...I just called and they said my application is still in the screening process and that it looks like it could be another 6-8 weeks untill a decision has been made!!!! I want to cry now...if its taking them this much tought to decide about an interview, I feel like there is no way I'll get it even I do get to that point


Ok, so I just thought of one upside about this. If they do take that long and eventually offer me an interview invite I will obviously be interviewing late in the season. There was no doubt in my mind that I would be waitlisted regardless of my interview date, so at least if I interview super late, I will not have to wait in agony for each excom meeting. I will just have to hope I get on the ranked list somewhere before 40 to have a chance. Ugh, I seriously wish I hadn't called now thought, I'm so depressed

Ha, simmer down little tea pot. You're IR (which is a huge plus of course) and have only been complete a couple of weeks - if they do indeed go by completion date then I really doubt they've thought about your app at all yet. They gave me a similar time frame.

I would think you'd be much further along since you were complete almost a month earlier. Go ahead and call, at worst you can end the anxiety at least. 👍👍

Eek! Ok, so I called and he said that my app is currently being reviewed and that I should hear something inside 2 weeks! And if I don't, that I should call back.

I also found out why they're being so much slower this cycle...turns out they lost a bunch of committee members at the last minute. One had a baby, two are really sick, etc, etc....So, the lengthy review process really isn't that our apps are weak! 👍

Thanks for doing the detective work! I figured something must be up. Last year it did not take nearly as long to review apps, even in the thick of the season. Hopefully by the time I am reviewed I will have interviewed at a few other schools, get the ole confidence level up and at em'.

Yeah I wondered about it taking so long too...I thought that maybe it had something to do with the new Dean. Since last year was her first as Dean, maybe she went along with old protocol for last cycle and then tweaked it now that she's got a better idea...but that's my overactive imagination for you! Lol!

Oh my god...I just called and they said my application is still in the screening process and that it looks like it could be another 6-8 weeks untill a decision has been made!!!!

Ok, so I just thought of one upside about this. If they do take that long and eventually offer me an interview invite I will obviously be interviewing late in the season. There was no doubt in my mind that I would be waitlisted regardless of my interview date, so at least if I interview super late, I will not have to wait in agony for each excom meeting. I will just have to hope I get on the ranked list somewhere before 40 to have a chance. Ugh, I seriously wish I hadn't called now thought, I'm so depressed

Looks like I have even longer to wait then....also, way to find the silver lining!

I'll add that in addition to whatever slowness the office may have encountered (babies, illnesses), we each are reviewed by 3 separate people. It may take some time for all 3 reviews to be completed on each file.

I'm not holding my breath though. The committee probably has plenty of reservations about my app. They did last year, anyway.

how long did it take you guys to get your secondary invites after you submitted your amcas stuff? i applied really late in the cycle (submitted amcas mid-sept...i know....)but i still haven't heard anything and i'm ready to give up hope =/ do they let you know that they're not going to invite you to fill out a secondary?

i got mine about 5 weeks after my AMCAS was verified

I wonder if that has something to do with IR vs OOR...? 'Cause I got mine 4 days after my AMCAS was verified.
