9/6. It really didn't sound like it had anything to do with me getting the invite, just gave them an idea of when might be convenient for me. Sort of like "We're offering you an interview. Also, we see that you'll be in the area. Would X/X still work for you?"

kinda a mean rejection - they basically implied i was an idiot for applying there with my numbers and that I should buy the MSAR

....just goes to show that they didn't really look at all at my application considering my SMP advisor told me to apply there

Speaking of the MSAR, does anyone have numbers for this school? The spreadsheet is a pain in the butt to use (to find stats) and I think it says that 550 people are interviewed here. How many out of that group are accepted? (not the number that attend)

If I end up needing to reapply, I'll just do all in my power to make my app better and work even harder, and eventually I'll get there! Trying to stay positive. I'd love to go this year and hopefully that can still happen, but if not I WILL get there. Things happen on G-d's time not on my time. It's my job to put one foot in front of the other and work hard to achieve my goals, but I must be patient because it's not up to me to decide WHEN all the hard work will come to fruition. Patience, patience, patience and harder work, and it will all turn out well. 🙂
Ok, attempt at a positive and reaffirming rant over. 🙂 Thanks guys, I just needed to get that out so I can pick myself up enough to go study for my classes. 🙂
Ps. heartfelt congrats to all those who received interviews and acceptance!! You should be very proud of yourselves and I'm extremely happy for the joy you all must be feeling! 🙂

Try not to take it personally. It's a form email they send to everyone. Yea it is kind of annoying that they quote GPA/MCAT numbers at you, and it's even more annoying when your numbers are higher than the ones they're quoting. 😛 But I think they are just trying to be helpful to those who need to reassess the strength of their application.

ah, yeah, i'd guess that is definitely a hold. i received a different message which I think is strange because my complete date is right around the complete date of folks who are receiving interview invitations right now.

here is what i received:
We are writing to update you on the status of your application. Due to the high volume of applications, we anticipate communicating your status regarding interview sometime after the first of the year. If you have any questions, please call our office and we will be glad to answer them. Thank you for your patience and your interest in Albany Medical College.

I'm just confused as to which form I'm supposed to tell my writers to use. I checked Albany's site, and they don't have downloadable recommendation forms. Isn't Interfolio just a site to store and send letters?

Submitted in late July and complete shortly thereafter. I was not put on hold. They just took forever getting to me I guess (which seems to be a common theme among schools that I applied to...)

i applied in august, and i feel that my app shud have been read, i am quite sure it is, and its put into the might-not-truly-be-interested pile, which i find kind of disappointing because i have a good friend doing his pharmD there.


on the other hand, a word is not degrading unless its used with that specific intent, if someone else considers it deragatory, then its their own personal opinion. and i wish people around here wouldnt take things so terribly seriously.

hmm, thanks for calling and clarifying. before it seemed that there were people that got clear hold messages and then this strange "after the new years" message. i wish they would be more transparent about the process they are using.

Got the "On hold" email today.... this is so wierd... is there a difference between this email and the "first of the year" email others have gotten?

I guess it's better then a rejection, but I'm a little confused by what it means? Oh well... best of luck to myself and all you other SDNers out there waiting to hear back!

It's really confusing that some people are getting "Hold" and some people are getting "after the first of the year".
I got an email from them the other day, and they mushed the "your file is complete" email with the "first of the year". The wording led me to believe that they hadn't gone over my file yet, and that they probably wouldn't until after New Year's.

That's what I would have assumed too, but I called a few days before getting the email and they told me that my file was with the committee RIGHT NOW. Then.."first of the year". I have no idea what this "hold" email is, or if it's better/worse/same than what we got, but and !!

So I called admissions and here's the deal:

The "after the new year" email is better than the "hold" email. "After new year" means they will for sure review your app for possible interview. "Hold" means they may or may not review your app again, depending on if they have met their goal for number of people interviewed.

That's the explanation I was given, anyway.
