For the activities, it said to estimate the hours in each activity over the "duration of your lifetime involvement," does that mean I can include things from high school? even though we couldn't do that on AMCAS?

How can I include the work I will be doing during my gap year on Albany's secondary application??

Can you group on the Secondary application for the activities like with AMCAS? Such as, can i group my work as a babysitter with when i was a camp counselor.. since they are both working with kids?
Or group my varsity basketball with working out at the gym?

There's no specific area for "what are your plans next year" like on other applications, so i don't know if you can add it. If it's something really important, you could always include it in the "Describe yourself" section.

You could probably group activities, like "child labor" and "athletics." (of course i'm joking about the child labor thing, but you get the idea.)

I have been trying to open the Instructions For Letters of Recommendation at various times for the past 3 days, but it does not open

This is what I can see from my secondary app. Hope that helps.

[FONT=Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica]Letters of Recommendation:
Thoughtfully written letters of recommendation from individuals who know you well are an important part of your application.
Please use the following criteria to guide you in the submission of professional references:

  • If the school you attend(ed) has a Premedical Advisory Committee, we strongly encourage you to have a letter sent by that committee.
  • If you received a college degree and/or completed any of the prerequisite science courses within the past four years (2006-2009), and you are not submitting a Premedical Committee Recommendation, letters should be sent by two professors in whose classes you were enrolled for credit. One of the two should be from a science instructor. If you are not sending a letter from a science instructor from whom you received course credit, a letter may be sent from your supervisor at a volunteer scientific research position, or a paid scientific research position.
  • If you have been out of school for more than four years (since 2005), you may substitute references from other professionals (i.e. employers).
  • If you have ever been enrolled in medical school, a Dean's letter of recommendation is required.
  • If you applied last year, your previous application has been retained and will be merged with your current file. If you had submitted all required credentials by the published deadline, then just one additional letter of recommendation is required. This letter must be representative of your most recent activities and may be submitted by either a faculty member or employer. Record the name of the person from whom we may expect to receive a letter on the application form.
  • All letters of recommendation must be sent directly to our office by the authors, or your college letter service.
  • Any number of supplemental letters of recommendation may be submitted; however, letters from relatives, friends of the family, casual acquaintances or elected officials are discouraged.
  • Please ask whoever is sending recommendations on your behalf to include your full name and AMCAS ID number. Letters that are received which refer to an applicant by only a nickname often cannot be matched with the application. Faxed copies will not be accepted.
  • We are not participating in the AMCAS letter service.
  • Our mailing address for recommendations is:

    Albany Medical College
    Office of Admissions, MC 3
    47 New Scotland Ave.
    Albany, NY 12208

We will also accept letters posted on Virtual Evaluations.
Applications will not be forwarded to the admissions committee for review until all recommendations listed on the application have been received.

A long time ago, probably since the end of July or beginning of August. Well they probably don't like me because my college offers this 7-year program with amc.

I'm sorry >.< when were you complete and is this status page?

This school accepts Interfolio LOR.

Thanks to Elijah for clearing this up.

AKP

Am I the first one to get rejected? Not cool. Just got the email today, complete 7-10 or so

blah, I was rejected too. Got another interview invite at the same time though....so whatever. Moving on🙂

I received the "hold" email today. Does hold basically mean they will hold my application and only send me an interview if they do not interview as many applicants as they need? Aka, should I consider this a lost cause?

Finally complete today. :xf:

rejected too. read it as i was interviewing at another school so its alright.

Anyone know what's the chance of getting an interview after getting the hold status?

can you all please post your complete dates? Thanks!

Hold 09/08; complete 08/10

AMC needs to chill with the 'No Update Spiels.' U put my app on hold and u donot want any updates? somehow you think if you look at the same exact things 1,2,3 month from today you may like it? 😎

My LORs were received by AMC on Sept 1st and I am still not complete. Anyone knows how long they take to process things?

Complete. But not holding on to too much hope, as I see many of you guys got on hold or rejected.

dang, is anyone getting interviews?

me and JellyBellyFarm are interviewing on the 24th. if anyone else has one, add yourself to the "Interview A-L" thread. (so far this is my only invite; you win some, you lose some)

I'm staying at the Best Western, it was $69, free breakfast, and shuttle to the school. They didn't have hosts on my night. One of the links in the interview packet shows when hosts are not available.

I know there are a number of days that student hosts are NOT available including the day I am interviewing (the 23rd). I am just commuting in for the day as I live only a few hours away!

Interview invite today! Complete sometime early August (don't know the exact date).

Also got an interview invite today. Complete 8/12.

complete a couple days ago. Might hear some news pretty soon.

I received an invite yesterday as well! Need to schedule this one in soon.

They are taking forever to place "Yes" next to 'Application complete and ready for review by our Admissions Committee'.

-_-

Does anyone have tuition/budget information for this school?

Their "View Book" pretty much blows, and when I try to google it, only the site with the PA stuff shows up.

Thanks, I hope!

Not sure when exactly I was complete, but I would assume mid august ish. Still havent heard jack.

I'm in the same boat, complete mid august. I emailed them and they said I should be reviewed sometime next week...I guess they are just running really late

Yeah, high school experiences don't really count unless you cured some disease or something.
