So I called admissions and here's the deal:

The "after the new year" email is better than the "hold" email. "After new year" means they will for sure review your app for possible interview. "Hold" means they may or may not review your app again, depending on if they have met their goal for number of people interviewed.

That's the explanation I was given, anyway.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing their explanation! I guess I don't mind waiting until after the first if I know they'll at least be looking at my app...:xf:

Interview invite just now... been complete and "under review" since the beginning of August. Thought I'd give you all some hope out there!🙂

Why is this place so expensive to fly to, gah

Fly into JFK, rent a car, send your in-the-area emails and hope for the best. You'll probably wind up spending the same amount, and after trying both the shuttle and car rental options, renting really is the only way to go...

Has anyone had experience applying to AMC under the early assurance program who can tell me about it.

interview invite today! complete late sept.

When are most interviews currently being scheduled for?

Should I be worried that my application status says that it's still not complete even though they've received everything? I'm wondering if it takes them a while to update it.

Depends on how long you've been waiting. I was marked complete about two weeks after submitting my secondary. You might want to call if it's been about two weeks or more.

On my status page, next to "Complete and Ready for Review" it still says no, even though they emailed me last week telling me that I'm complete. I think they're just behind on updating.

Just got the Hold email today after 3 months of being complete. Thanks Albany.

Rejected via Email today.

Little bit surprised but whatever. Good luck to the rest of you.

Just wondering, has anyone been accepted yet? If so, what was the turn around time post-interview?

I don't think they accept anybody until December 1st. I interviewed a week ago and they said they'd tell me sometime in December.

I interviewed a few weeks ago and they basically told me the same thing. I got the impression they'd be making some decisions before the holidays though.

Oh okay, thanks! Based on their little handout at the interview, I thought the committee met every tuesday and would tell us our status shortly thereafter. But perhaps that's eagerness thinking and talking.

Thanks a lot! I got the "after the new year" email. Hopefully it's a positive one. 🙂

Interview Invitation. Will be interviewing sometime in January. Complete in early October.

i wanna know... i havent heard from them in 3months now.

has anyone ever taken the Amtrak train from Rochester to Albany? I'd rather not drive 4 hours in the snow.

I was planning to do this if I got an invite. I am from Rochester.

Alas, I was decapitated pre-interview.

Go for it.👍

Hey guys, I have an interview coming up in January. For those of you who have interviewed already, can you shed any light on what the interview was like? I've gathered there are two separate interviews. Are they with students/faculty/ect.?

Was the interview more casual or formal (like ethics questions, etc.)

Thanks for the help! Good luck to everyone out there waiting to hear some news.

If you're curious:
Complete 9/11
Invite 11/16
MCAT: 30
gpa: 3.8

I had 2 interviews both with faculty. They were pretty casual and about me rather than about ethical stuff. A nice low stress interview for both of them.

However, it seems to be hit and miss with the interviewers. One girl at my interview had a brutal interview with a lot of ethical questions.

So pretty much par for the course.

Hi,

You might get one interviewer; you might get two -- depending on availability. But having one will not put you at a disadvantage: Albany arranges it such that you will always get one interviewer who is on the admissions committee.

In my experience, the member on the admissions committee gives the harder interview: ethics, healthcare, etc. But I've heard people who got nice interviewers for both. So who knows...

to all those who interviewed already, apparently decisions start coming out next week. Well, "early to middle of December". eeps.

just got an acceptance email today! snail mail to come. interviewed 10/21

i read Late Jan/Early Feb.

Kinda makes me wonder how hte people on HOLD will get an interview since I also read that those are re-reviewed in January....

But all my readings might be misleading!

Does a hold pretty much = rejection?

That's how I reacted to it at least.

apparently they have started sending acceptances out.. if you scroll up.. someone got an email already

Hmm, that is strange. I recall them specifically saying something about acceptances starting to go out in December. Maybe that was just a general guideline and there are a few exceptions?

Last year the same situation occurred. Admissions said December, but decisions started pouring in (waitlist and acceptances) late november. So I guess we can all expect to hear back soon.
