finally had my interview. It d be aweosme to get into cclcm.
Does anyone know when the final meeting deciding acceptances is going to be?
I want to know how long im gonna be waiting, lol
I actually asked Denise today, and she said it hasn't been decided yet. But I'm guessing end of February.
Thank you Iceman, Myuu and CCLCMer for taking the time to answer my questions. While you may not be representative of the entire student base, it certainly speaks well for these programs that their students are willing to spend time to help an incoming MS1. I really appreciate all the time you guys put into keeping up with this thread, it certainly has been a valuable asset (in combination with

Hey, we were all there once, man. Congrats on becoming one of us.
😀
Actually, that's one of the things that impressed me the most about Case. I think the effort that the current students give out is indicative of the atmosphere of the student body. When I contacted [a ton of] students hoping to find someone to stay with, even though they were almost all out of town, they all got back to me with suggestions and words of encouragement. The students that helped as guides, for Q&A, even random students I talked with - the cooperative spirit was definitely more tangible than I felt at my other two interviews. The other schools were great, but Case was really special.
...Wow I didn't really mean for that to sound so cheesy haha
We like cheese. It's delicious with eggplant. My favorites are Swiss, provolone, smoked Gouda, and cheddar, the single most popular cheese in the world!
[CCLCM] Anyone know when the next admissions subcommittee meeting for CCLCM is set for? I remember the end of February mentioned...
See above.
Do any of the current students know what the chances are at this point for getting in off of the hold and high hold lists? For example, what percentage of interviewed applicants have received rejections, how many are on the lists, how many more will be accepted. Waiting is just so hard!!!😱😱
No way I can tell you this. Sorry, but I don't have THAT good of an in, and to be honest, the admissions staff probably don't even have those stats tabulated.
I'll be there vc7777! I'm also non-trad, so I look forward to meeting you!
Awesome, congrats!
CCLCM's next subcommittee meeting is the 1st week of march i believe.
Also- since they initially only accept exactly 32 students.. i think if your on high hold you still have a good shot at it...not sure about hold. (total accepted ends up usually being around 50)
It was around that many last year, but we won't know how many it will be this year until classes start in July.
🙂
Wait, so they accept 32 exactly, but end up accepting about 50? Is that because about half of people accepted turn CCLCM down for other schools?
Right.
People probably turn it down to do MD/PhDs.
this happens usually everywhere. most schools report that they accepted twice the number of their class size. the accepted # includes people that were lifted off waitlists too, though.
some schools over-accept on the front end, anticipating people dropping out and the class returning to its normal size. other schools accept their class size and as people drop out they take people from the waitlist.
so this isn't unusual. though turning down a full-ride for med school does seem weird! these people probably got into an MD/PhD somewhere else or got scholarships else ware.
That all makes sense, and I know that is the case for other schools, but I just got the feeling that CCLCM would likely accept fewer beyond 32 because so few people turn them down. I guess people who are on the fence between that and MD/PhD might choose the latter.
some people might not jive well with the structure at CCLCM. it's definitely not for everyone. someone who gets accepted may just decide it isn't for them.
There are lots of reasons why people turn down one school for another. For CCLCM, doing MD/PhD instead is one reason, but it could be a ton of other things. Reasons that I have heard people give over the past three years include family logistics issues (ex. spouse couldn't get a job in Cleveland); deciding that a different school was a better fit; not wanting to take a fifth year of med school; and wanting to be closer to immediate family. Don't forget that some people get scholarships from other schools as well as CCLCM, so the financial part won't be as significant of a factor for them.

Yup, it is a unique program and I guess for some people with multiple acceptances, a tough decision.
Does anyone have a sense of how many people are on the high hold list?
Sorry, ruthallel, but I've given you all the info I've got.
