I fell like I have swayed you to change your avatar, like I have such influence, like I've got a lot of....what's the word I'm looking for?....

the word is 'influence.' it sounds funny cuz you just used it earlier in the sentence. change the first 'influence' to 'persuasiveness' and you're golden

Wow, I haven't ever noticed those symbols before. I'll have to pay attention the next time I am using an appliance of some type that has a pause button, so to speak. 😀

Edit: I'm looking at the power button of my laptop, and it looks like the first symbol of the standby button. Same thing for my power strip. Why would that be? I guess it means that even when I turn the computer or power strip off, some part of it is still powered up?

I think maybe. My TV, for example, has the same button. When press it, the TV turns "off". However, if I press it again using the remote control, the TV turns "on". Something has to have power if it can detect the remote control's signal and turn the screen on.

Somebody's been writing personal statements and secondary responses...

Hey...time for me to move to another thread...Either I've lost my funny, or you are the straight man for my geek comedy tour I've been looking for...

I am on call right now in the SICU and just got slapped by a delirious patient who was mad that we wouldn't take out the arterial line. Good times!

Vc7777, I thought you might want to know that some of the equipment here has those standby symbols too. I feel like I've penetrated the EE version of the Freemasons or something. All of a sudden, I'm seeing the secret sign everywhere!

Haha...no...just the one geeky guy who knows enough to be trouble...
Influential maybe...but POWERful?

So you decided for a little less subtlety this time, huh? 🙂. I actually appreciated your last one a bit more. 🙂

Yes, well you have to understand I have had a bad run of luck this week with obtuse and obscure references. I just crashed a printer this afternoon at work, and I said out loud that my printout must have "clogged" the 'series of tubes in the internet' between my computer and the printer. This engineer near me gave me the look, you know...like I was completely stupid...So I'm kinda sensitive today...

I'm Sorry PB! In a show of solidarity I snapped a quick photo of myself in my after-dinner wear and uploaded it.
That avatar is not nearly angry enough. This one is better:

Just rejected, 5 PM, 9/11... Secondary submitted 8/12

It's weird, schools w/ secondary essays have not been responding or rejecting me. I've been getting interviews to schools that don't require secondary essays. I guess I didn't put as much effort in these essays as my PS. 🙁

HAHAHAHAHAH... If he didn't get that, then he's the *******.

Speaking of obscure references, your use of obtuse just reminded me of one of my favorite Family Guy quotes:

Hey sorry to hear about the rejection! 🙁

Lol, well engineers do tend to take things a bit literally at times 😉

Sorry, man. Good luck with your other interviews.

So am I still being obtuse? No, now you're being acute. Awesome.

I have some actual admissions information to report in this post, which is that CCLCM has found a new admissions secretary. Her name is Denise, and she'll be starting in a couple of weeks. Hopefully our admissions office will be getting back to normal soon.

I've been reading this thread for some time now but haven't joined in. I have scheduled my interviews for both case and the clinic but have only received an email confirmation for case. How long does it take for the clinic to give interview confirmations?

I have not received my clinic confirmation either. I am guessing we are ok. If anything I would call a week in advance of your interview to confirm.

Me neither. Call me old fashioned, but since I actually talked to Karen at CCLCM, I am confident everything is being taken care of. I don't trust those computer things.

Almost missed this comment! Hahaha! Yes...I am the Grand Pubah of the FreeElectrons...feels like the begining of your own personal DaVinici Code saga...either that or you are suffering from delusions of sleep deprivation...one of the two....

Your comment reminds me of the Simpsons' "Stone Cutters" Song...

Do they want you to apply to CCLCM or was that a rejection?😳

They will send the info soon. If you don't get it within a week or two, call the admissions office.

Imagine my surprise when this thread wasn't on the first page when I checked today...[crickets chirping]

Looks like we are having a CASE of the Mondays....

FYI,

I just received my CCLCM info via e-mail.

Alright guys, fess up! Who was here today?

hey this could be a dumb question, but if I was rejected by Case can I still apply to the CCLCM program because I changed my mind now?

I was at case today 🙂 did any of you sdn'ers stop by the admissions office?

My understanding is that if you want to do this, you should call the Case admissions office and ask them to reopen your secondary. I seem to remember someone doing that last year.

Ok, all of you UP students, question for you: is there any way to get from the med school to UH without going outside? And if so, how? BTW, Myuu, I never asked you which songs you are singing for Doc Opera. 😀

As a matter of fact, there is. So! Should you make your way to the atrium, look for the super secret stairs near the MacDonald Women's Hospital (the gate that isn't quite a gate and doesn't lock). Make your way into the mysterious basement. Head toward the sign that says "Case." Proceed 200 paces through the dark underbelly of the hospital until you reach an unmarked door with stairs that go up. Marvel as you suddenly find yourself inside the Wood building, which is contiguous with the med school.

...and then I don't remember what side of the foyer that puts you on, so head toward the vending machines, but make a right next to the applied anatomy offices, and continue forward until you magically find yourself wandering the first floor of the med school.

(They're going to put signs up in the next couple of weeks.)

The hospital is also contiguous with the first floor of the BRB via a footbridge from the second floor of UH, but then you have to walk 50ft outside to actually enter these hallowed halls. Or not, actually, now that I think about it. There's a side entrance hidden behind the stairs of the BRB (the building that is labeled "school of medicine" that isn't)...

As for DocOpera, I'll be singing a medically relevant parody of "Spice Up Your Life" with four other fine young future physicians, and Jem's "They" with 13 of my new closest vocally inclined friends in DoCapella.
