Prestige and ambiguity of applicant selection. No one seems to "know" what Mayo is looking for in an applicant. They put more emphasis on your primary application and LOR. I wanted to apply but -20 degrees temperature ain't my thing.

I thought they were too selective, so I didn't apply.

because getting into mayo is like winning the lottery, everyone wants to do it. Probably the most prestigious/selective school in the country imo. So people go all crazy over it. If you look its actually like 4-5 people posting the same thign each night that makes it so high lol. Every night its just more and more bitching about not getting Lor requests or other things like that. Not to mention the normal SDN paranoia😛

considering we are all on hold i really doubt that it means anything. Now if we are still on hold in sept maybe they time to start praying. I dont know anyone who has gotten an interview or rejection, not to mention that I really doubt that out of everyone on SDN, that at least one of us wouldnt have gotten an invite.

Don't worry guys. Last year, many people got hold and then were interviewed. I think GW meant that you are complete and will be under review.

I been getting this when i tried to pay online for GW secondary app

tried it on : IE7, firefox

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {94A1A587-1CF1-11D3-993D-00E0291F9A9C} failed due to the following error: 80040154.


i get this. i was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

has anyone figured out how to fix this? is it something on my computer or is it with the GW website?

Also, when you pay does it go through immediately? I tried submitting it several times but got the same message. I hope it doesnt go through later and charge my card like 10 times.

Am I reading into this too much? Or should I not use the last line?

It's been discussed earlier on this thread. I'll personally stuck to 5 lines to err on caution but I don't think it should matter either way in the long run.

I don't know, they don't seem to friendly when I call them. I asked about the 5/6 line issue, and she just responded "there are more important things on the secondary than that issue," and my thoughts were "well, then why the hell didn't you allot 5 or mention 6 in the first place?! jeez," but I didn't say that.

So I have 2 questions, probably small and dumb, but anyways:

I don't know the proper formatting for our responses on the pdf. Do you think we need to indent the first line (I didn't)? And for the last question, should it just be one big chunk of text, or split into 2 paragraphs or so, indenting assumed?

Also, I was going to attach a really nice picture of myself from my fraternity, but I have earings on in them (I'm a guy), is that a red flag taboo? It's a very formal touched-up picture otherwise, suit and all, but maybe I should get a different one.... thoughts?

Before I was put on "hold" i had the same status as you just posted. As did all of us i believe.

not true...I actually called early in the process about this, the lady on the other end said that it was fine to use all of the lines....I think they do this kind of thing on purpose to freak people out....it works.😛

I feel like they're legitimately trying to trick us to see if we can be brief and follow directions clearly, without fail. I mean it's sort of clever, but annoying, and I don't even know if that's true. So any definite yes or no to this? I want to stay on the safe side, but I really don't want to cut a line from my response, which feels really solid.

Also, any word about the earing question I had?

lol it doesnt matter use 6 lines it wont make a difference. also the earring thing, its kinda . Some might not like it others wont care. I remember the dean of creighton told me to remember that most people on these committees are older (40-50+) conservative men and women. The clever pic idea you have may not be so clever to a 50 yr old conservative male. Not saying you were trying ot be clever but i think its solid advice. Personally I dont think its a big deal but
