Did the on holds get an email about a change in app status?

No email. I just checked my status one day and saw it....maybe sometime early last week or the week before. So many schools...they're all blurring together! Stats: 36T, 3.7 GPA, 3.8 sGPA. My dad went here for undergrad and I think I knew to write some pretty good quick responses. Oh well. Another hold I guess (to add to UChicago's today). No BU rejection yet at least. Le sigh.

Yeah I just got the E-mail, I was complete 7/21 and the GWU site says for me:

Your current status is
Correspondence concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via email.

Same here, but still no e-mail!?!?

I called and they said "sometimes the message does not go up at the same time as the e-mail is sent."

:luck:

Well, looks like an interview! (via e-mail)

:luck: everybody!

i'm hoping this isn't one of the "you have high stats so we'll ignore you" schools, because i am really interested 🙁 (although i am almost positive it is one of those schools)

I'm still on hold :-( People who haven't been put on hold should be happy, it probably means they will contact you guys about interviews!!

That would be nice but, I still haven't been placed on hold or rejected and I doubt I would get an interview over some of the more desirable applicants on this thread...especially based on the MCAT score they have for me right now.

Hurray! Finally got the email confirmation. I was worried there for a second that they made some mistake. All is well. Looking forward to seeing you guys in September!!😀

congrats! mind posting your stats? i'm curious!

Finally got the email confirmation, as well! Interview invite!!!

Congrats to everyone who got an interview today!!! It seems like a potentially quick turn-around...I'm staying hopeful :xf:

So we're still not sure whether being on "hold for re-review" is a good thing or a soft rejection?

fairly sure it just means the 2nd interviewer has to get to you, at least thats what i inferred from the person ( i think mega) who called admissions. Its certainly not a soft rejection i know that much.

Thanks for the update. Did you mean 2nd reviewer?

I got an interview too!
I was never placed on the hold status, fwiw. (and I definitely wasn't, I checked it 2-3x/day)

has anyone been rejected yet? or are people who haven't been offered an interview yet all being put on hold?

I really hope you are right about that....b/c from these posts all the people who weren't put on hold are the ones with the interviews....

Im not 100% certain by any means, so dont quote me on it...just how it seemed from what that guy posted from the office...though i agree with youm the people with initial interviews werent on hold so really i think its more like they dont want to waste the sep-oct interview dates on us, but they dont want to outright reject us either, so we will just be getting the nov-march interviews. The waitlist movement on GWU is huge i guarantee it as so many people use this as a safety and withdrawal later. If you look at some of the people getting interviews they have multiple interviews, hell two people have a mayo interview. You know the likelyhood of these people actually staying at GWU is probably small.

eek, I wasn't put on hold for a long time since being complete, but I just checked today and now it says I'm on hold. 🙁

Hope that isn't a soft rejection, bc it really does seem like everyone who got an interview invite wasn't ever put on hold.

so the wait begins...

FWIW, I haven't been put on hold and have been complete since 7/9 and do not have an invite to GW as of right now...so I doubt there's much more to it than coincidence at this point.

Just got an interview invite! Complete 7/9. Good luck everyone!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Omgomgomgomgomg!!!!!!!ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I was told that each application is reviewed twice before an interview is granted. But it seems some of us were never put on hold. Nevertheless, everyone on hold gets a second review before a final decision on their application is made. The whole process is nerve-wrenching....😳

they better wait for my new MCAT score before making a decision. VCU was lame for doing it too early. 👎

no "hold" I'm assuming?

Thanks! No I wasn't on hold, just under review for a long time.

Blue - My email was at 4:50pm if you're wondering. I didn't check my email til I got home from work.

just "complete" here too since 7/9. i don't want to be stressed, but can't help it. :xf:hopefully by next week i'll know something.

Awesome. I'm still "on hold for re-review at a later date." Seeing as everyone who got an interview invite never had this as their status, I'm getting pretty pessimistic. I wonder if tomorrow the first batch of mass rejections get sent out and it becomes a repetition of today's Boston University Massacre?

0 for 2! Oh well, at least if I don't get in I'll be able to enjoy my '20s...

To be honest, there's a chance that's going to happen. On the other hand, if you look at the thread for last year, several people were placed on hold status around the time that the first interviews were issued. A lot of these people had their status changed to "under review" shortly thereafter and were offered interviews. I don't think all hope is gone quite yet. Probably means that we're not in the highest priority group at this point.

Is anyone really worried about what should we be doing right now? Do we just sit here and wait for the rejections :scared:

There's not really a hell of a lot to do. We can either neurotically check the status page every hour for the next three months until it changes or just not worry about it.

I, too, am on hold. Boston already rejected me. I don't know if my frail spirit can take two back to back rejections, 1-2 KO!
For real, though, I don't feel too good about the whole on-hold thing: if you look at last year threads, the on-hold status that a few people had was probably just a system error. So it's hard to draw any conclusions about what the on-hold thing means this year.

i think at this point its just who cares...you cant do anything about it like someone above said...if this means rejection then so be it...but i highly doubt that. More likely it means we are not on a high priority list to interview. So when late interviews come around in nov-march, they might revaluate some of us and then give out interviews again. Remember the best candidates typically get early interviews and that cant be everyone. Typically these people hold multiple acceptances by june. Most of the class isnt filled off the sept and oct interviews so i think everyone should just not panic...remember that there is plenty of time and there are thousands of stories you can read on here where people get late interviews then get accepted soon after, it just may not be until march 2010 for some us.

Also these 10-15 high volume schools (meaning 10k+apps) like boston, drexel, georgetown, gwu, etc etc...dont put too much stock into rejections from these...they have sooo many freakin apps they are bound to serve mass rejections.

I know I got rejected from BU last week too, jesus back to back weeks would be depressing, especially this early....

But I think elijah is right, we need to realize that GW does interview a lot of candidates later on during the cycle. Remember HrryUpWait (From last year), he took his mcat in like august, received his interview I believe in january, and got accepted later on. So let's all remember it is still July.....

almost august.:sigh:

haha i think the fact we are in cali blue makes it worse for us...i hear of a lot mroe stories and know people personally who have stats that anywhere else in this country they would be accepted, but us....just out of luck 🙁. Each bad email or no news make me think ill be the next example of the cali kid who will neevr get into med school until he becomes a TX resident

Ok, so here's my experience.

I'm actually a re-applicant. I applied late last year, was complete at most schools in Nov/Dec, some in Jan... Long story short, I wasn't accepted or interviewed anywhere. That's 23 rejections. In one year. Ouch.

So, I tried again this year, applied early, and here I am with my first interview at GW (my top choice school) and I'm psyched.

Last year, I got that "hold" message. I was complete there by November. Last year, "hold" meant that both reviewers had reviewed your application, and as someone said earlier, they didn't want to reject you outright, they want to give you a chance, to see what other applicants look like compared to you.

I never heard back from them, but I applied late. I'm sure plenty of good people like yourselves who got on the ball early and are currently on hold will hear good news from GW later this year! Don't lose hope, you've got this 🙂

Wish you all the best!

Also, anyone else have their interview 9/15?
