so i dodged the rejection massacare, but i've been complete since mid july with no hold, no interview, nada. 😕

I am also on hold to be rereviewed. I guess this is better than a rejection. Anyone know if they take many people off this list to interview? Also is it a good idea to send a letter of interest. The few things I can think about myself center around my lifes experiences(non-ethnic minority) which I think add significant diversity and ties to the area as I grew up in Maryland. Obviously I would talk about my specific interest in the schools programs as well. Do these sound like good points to bring up in a letter of interest?

Looking at last year's thread, there were people who had the hold notice for 3 months and then were invited to an interview.

It's important to hold on to hope and be patient, as hard as it may seem.

I just sent a letter the other day indicating my strong interest and updating on a new activity.

I'm on hold as well....and I'm holding on to every last bit of hope.

What do you guys think it means if we escaped the recent rejection storm?

Hopeful or just waiting for a more delayed rejection?

I just got an interview invite!!! My first one this year! So excited.... scheduled for Dec. 3.

If i'm right, all those people that were just rejected were pre-interview. I think... ? So it probably doesn't mean anything for us that have had an interview. Our file will probably be stuck in a cabinet and forgot about for a few weeks, untill they hit the day they start pulling out "competitive alternates" for review. In fact, if I recall someone posting earlier in this thread, they didn't reject ANYONE last year directly post-interview, they all went to this competitive applicant pool. This makes me sad.

So we wait. . . . . and wait. . . . you think i'd be used to it by now.

its somewhere in the thread, but I think its around 360-380 get accepted out of 1000ish.. but remember that there are a lot of BS/MD students as well in that acceptance number

Does anyone have any insight into the timing of the decision process here? Seems like people are hearing back about a month after the interview, but on the website and at the interview day they keep telling me it's more like eight weeks. Is this just them being quick on the first batch, or are they telling us a longer time frame to help us be patient if they hit a delay?

Trying to figure out if I'm going to have to put down a $1000 deposit on December 1st after an October 16th interview...

so i just got waitlisted and have a question. Basically, even if you get in through waitlist, this wont happen till May?? so until then status will never change?

Anyone have US News Stats for GW?

I have US News. Here's the stats for 2008:10315 applied, 1038 interviewed, 296 were accepted, 177 enrolled.

They accept only ~30% of interviewees. Few come off waitlist since they over-accept.Last year's list didn't move much.

for those who are accepted, we do not need to send the $100 deposit until May, correct? I signed my form and sent it in, but no money yet

hey im wondering for those of you who interviewed, did anyone stay with a student host? if so is there a contact list or anything? or hotels that are less than 200 a night? maxed the credit card out on apps already. interview is nov 13th (on a friday, which is awesome)

They have student hosting, email this person and give your dates. Sheliza <[email protected]> make sure you do it early cause it may take time to find someone.

and also if you want to stay in a hotel the "best western iwo jima" in Arlington, VA is only one metro stop away from the school and a lot cheaper than the hotels in the city.

thanks! thats awesome. yeah i just found that hotel too, although the guy on the phone when i asked how close it was to the school kept saying "georgetown" so i wasnt sure if i got accurate info. thanks!

Actually, it's close to both. There's a bus that leaves from the Rosslyn Metro for Georgetown; alternately, the Metro itself will take you from Rosslyn station to Foggy Bottom, literally in the walkway between GW's hospital and med school building.

In addition to the Best Western, you also have the Inn of Rosslyn right next door, which I think might be cheaper. That's where I stayed, and it was fine.

Yea I had the same question. I signed mine and sent it in and received a confirmation email a few days later. I guess we dont need to send in the deposit till may, I might still call just to verify though.

I just checked my status page just to see if anything had changed. I've been placed on the alternate list. I was not notified by email so I have no idea how long it's been up. This was week 6 after my interview.

😡 Still on hold

I should be happy though, out of the GW, Georgetown, BU, Tufts group of schools, I at least have ONE interview.

Nothing, complete since the beginning of universe.

I am a member of the incoming class of 2014 (early selection ie no MCAT) and I just wanted to know if anyone has received their official acceptance contract via the mail. I got the email on the 15th but still no contract in the post.

So...at our interview they had mentioned that they were going to be reviewed by the LCME again in October...Anybody with a more recent interview hear anything about that?

Thanks 🙂

I interviewed there on October 17th, and I believe they said the results of the LCME survey would be released in January.

This the same for in-state? Everywhere says they have no preference but I've heard from some sources they have slight preference if you're a DC resident.

would you rather be in lecture 8hrs a day? or 4 hrs a day? Would you like new beautiful facilities? Or older ones with no windows? I'd pick Temple 🙂

So, I know the status page is updated weekly, but does anyone know what day of the week it is updated?
GW's app page says that they will contact you immediately if your status changes. I don't think it is necessary to check it weekly.

I just happen to notice a status change on their website. Didn't get any email notification. So it might be good to check anyways.

They might, but there's such a small sample size there that it's hard to draw any kind of conclusion about their preferences.

Big ol' hold for me as well. Not sure when that happened as i tend to not actually read that blue writing and just glance at it to see if it changed.

Anyone been complete since all the way back to around early July and not heard back? I received the "application complete" email on July 10, but am still waiting. Could this be a good thing or bad thing? Also, I've had friends who completed a lot later than I did with high MCAT's but got rejected....this seems strange to me, but then again the whole process is random.

Dammit just checked my status and I'm on Hold for rereview too.

Anyone know if Hold = Death here? Or do people actually get interviews out of it?

I'm pretty sure everyone had this status update right after being complete. I wouldn't worry about it unless you had a different status before rereview status. I've had the rereview status since July 10.

Well I had a "you are complete and your file is being reviewed" status since October. It just changed to the Hold status now. So that's bad right?

I don't know if it's bad, but yea, I've been in the re-review status since late July/early August. I still haven't heard anything. A friend who's also in the same spot told me that they're just going to take all the re-reviews and go over them in December.

So, we'll probably have to wait a while. :xf:

I have to say guys, as far as the "on hold" status goes, its really hard to say. I know when i applied 08, I was on hold until sometime in May, and then rejected. They reject people off the hold list throughout, and then do some interviews, but they hold a lot of people on a backlog that they use later in case they dont get enough acceptances from interviews and need to conduct more. GW is often a backup school, thats why they interview so many more people than they accept. on the opp side, anyone interviewing 11/13? first interview this session, first interview that involved travel...yikes!

O thank god!! After a 4.5 month hold, finally an interview invite!!!!

I was too lazy to look through this thread...

But what's this rumor people on the east coast telling me about GW at risk of losing accreditation?

My interview group today consisted of people from all over the east coast and were laughing about it. Must be serious? Or embarrassing? Yes???
