To anyone who interviewed on 10/13, have you heard anything from the school lately?
 
just checked my status.. been selected as an alternate. Everyone who doesn't get accepted gets that message right?

Thanks for the heads-up. I interviewed on the same day, and went to check my status online, and was listed as an alternate as well. I went ahead and called the admissions office, and here's what they told me:

GW does outright accept, alternate and outright reject post-interview. So not everyone gets alternate status.

GW finishes their interview season so they can see how many outright accepts they've given, and how many seats they have left after that. They then fill those seats from the alternate pool in April or May.

Over the last couple years, they have taken a substantial number of people from the alternate pool, and sending updates is definitely encouraged.

Good luck to everyone else who gets to go back to the land of maybe-maybe not... at least by this point in the process we're used to it.

As for myself, this just increases my leaning toward Western (DO), which I kind of like better anyway. In any case, this means I definitely need to pay that deposit by December 1st...

Does anyone remember the cheapest hotel they found on the list that GW has on their website (and what the price was)?

I actually found a cheaper one than the ones on their list (I called some of the ones on the list, but even with the med center discount they were like 130/night). I used Kayak, found one for about $100 in a decent location right near the metro (can prob get one even cheaper if you wanted). GW is also right on the metro, so it's easy to get to from different parts of the city.
 
it's not on the list but the best western Iwwo jima was really good (read cheap) and was only one metro stop away. all the hotels on the list were waaaayyy too pricey for me.

I know I just called 5 or so of the hotels. HOLY CRAP! This city is pricey. Even Boston wasn't this bad. Their "corporate rate" is like 180...i wonder what the normal rate is...
 
I was complete 10/20 and was placed on hold as well. I didn't receive an email, but checked my status page. Is that bad news? BTW, I'm Canadian (international)

I had the hold status on my page for about 2 months before I actually received the e-mail, so no worries.
 
Does anyone know how GW is about applications that they put on hold? What are the chances of getting accepted once the application is on hold? Are there any steps I should take to get my application further in the process?

Check out Days Inn on Conneticut (I think thats what it was). It was nice and right next to the metro. Took me ~15 min to get to GW in the morning. They don't have a deal with GW but it cost like $89 and the rooms are pretty decent.
 
Complete 10/20

Invited to Interview - 11/20

Original Interview date - 12/17 but I had to reschedule cuz I'll be out of the country to 1/15... does this hurt my chances? I feel bad I asked the lady a few times if I could do early december but apparently they are full.

I WOULD LOVE to go to GW, I love DC, I love the school, and I really want to do my clinical rotations at Children's National cuz thats where I want to do my residency... sooo can I trade an interview date wtih someone scheduled in early december? I dunno how this would work but is anyone willing to trade? I really want a date in the first two weeks of December. maybe if you already got in somewhere else and aren't considering GW, you could give a spot to me cuz I really want to go here!!
 
Complete 10/8 and placed on hold.

Anyone have any luck coming off hold status? I'm assuming they're going to reject me. My apps strength isn't in my numbers and the secondary is short, short, short!
 
So I got my notice that I am on Hold 🙁 I guess thats how it goes.

How long were you on hold for?

I really want to attend GW and I just went on hold last week. I did some shadowing this week and have continued to volunteer and research, so I was hoping to send them an update letter, but I posted a forum asking that in the pre-med forums and everyone seemed to think it was a bad idea...

Did you send an update when you went on hold?

Go ahead and send it, it can only help you, IMO. I don't know how much it will help though.
 
I applied in early July and i have been on hold since then. I just received an invitation to interview on 12/16, trying to decide whether or not to attend.
 
Are you in at other schools? Would you go to GW over that school? That's my system for choosing.
 
I was also put on hold at GWU. Out of the 15 schools i have applied to, it has the lowest ranking. Will they not interview because they think i wont attend if accepted?

This is important because i have an interview at Georgetown in mid January and was thinking of sending them an in the area for an interview email. Any thoughts on my predicament?

I was planning to send an update but I think I may hold off now until my interview.

Can anyone provide feedback on their interview experience? Looks like the trend of upgrading from Hold Status to the interview pool continues!

Read the interview feedbacks. I would hold off on the update letter till after the interview. If you have been invited for an interview it is unlikely they are going to look much at your file between now and the interview. sending an update letter 2-3 weeks after the interview will concretely put what you said in your interview into your file and show your continued status

I am about 5-6 weeks post interview with no news. =(

I interviewed on 10/16, was listed as an alternate 11/17.

Technically, they don't really 'notify' you, though. I only found out by checking my status online. Did you try that?

I'm guessing you interviewed around the same time as me, or maybe slightly after? In any case, if you don't see a change in the next week or so, give them a call and see what's up.

It took five and a half weeks for my final decision (alternate 👎). They sent me an email and the status page was updated a couple days later.

Same here! I wonder how many people they interview from the hold group...
 
Alternate--interviewed November 5th....my third hold/waitlist post-interview. Still waiting on an acceptance.
 
Rejected. What a great way to come out of an Anatomy tag test :|
