I interviewed on 1/26 and have yet to hear back...the waiting game ensues...

I also interviewed on that 2/16 and haven't heard anything. Also, I don't remember them saying that we'd hear back before six weeks. In fact, I distinctly remember them saying that it would take at least 6-8 weeks to hear back, and not to call until after 8 weeks had passed. Did your interviewer give you this info?

First off, great to find a same-day interviewee here!

I actually recall hearing this during the group information session in the morning. The person who led the session said that while GW normally gets back to interviewees in 6-8 weeks, our group's timetable would probably be accelerated so that GW could finish reviewing interviewees by the end of March. I'm not sure why I heard back before you did, but I imagine that it would have something to do with the attendance of both of our interviewers at the adcom meetings.

Do you guys happen to know how the post-interview process is? A student during my interview day said the interviewers rate the students and write a detailed letter.. both weighed equally but no mention whether they were present at the adcom meeting. Actually, I'm leaning toward them mentioning that they weren't going to be there.. but I'm not sure.

There is a sheet they gave us in the interview folder that says you can call after the 8 week mark and they will tell you if a decision has been made. If I were you, I would call and see if they have made a decision or see what's the delay...

I did as well...a few weeks after my interview...

Ultimately, I have been placed on the alternate list and will remain hopeful as GW is my first choice...

Ya'll are bustas. Stop reading into this. There is probably one person that checks off if the pic is in and they probably check like once a week.

i sent it in before the interview, never got a response, asked them if they got it, and they said yes we did kthxbai.

So yea. Who knows what any of this means.

I'm about to send a letter of interest. I don't know what else to say though.... I'm just curious, how did you find other things to say such that you could send multiple letters (outside of ty's)? Did you update on activities?

Or did you send a second letter of interest saying hey I'd just want to tell you again that i'm interested. jw.

yeah... it gets tricky when you don't have something really new and exciting to update with them with (i'm usually in this category). i just re-mentioned the two most-important-to-me activities that i am involved with and reemphasized my interest in gw specifically. you could elaborate about things across letters or talk about different interests too. i know that's not really helpful, but i hope it gives you some comfort. any other suggestions anybody?

Assuming that flutegirl101 got the same thing... It was a letter sent to already alternate-listed people that was asking us to respond whether or not we are still interested in remaining on the list. It also said that the movement happens after May 15th... etc.etc.

Oh don't worry. Although I don't know enough about computer science to nuke this site (and I wouldn't go that far lol), in my mind I have SDN and hell in the same cognitive category.

The only reason I came back was because I interviewed at GW and Jefferson (after getting destroyed by 4 post interview rejections and one WL out of 5 interviews) and wanted some info on them.

This site still sucks. Not everyone on here, but I still maintain that this site is part of the 'problem' and not part of the 'solution'.


When and if I get an acceptance... I am spamming the poopy out of the main pre-med board, and then subsequently NEVER posting again.

Most people in my class seemed pretty happy on Match Day. 🙂 I know I was! I'm going to Virginia Mason for IM. It's not the traditional MGH of SDN, but it was my #1. 👍

As far as competitive specialties, GW seems to do quite well in Ortho and ENT. The only real weakness I've seen is Derm, as GW doesn't have it's own Derm residency which also affects making contacts, etc.
