Just got an email about an hour ago telling me I was accepted! I interviewed March 3rd. Now the hard part of choosing comes...

Yes Congrats! I interviewed on March 4th and have heard nothing. Unfortunately, I feel an alternate/waitlist is in the works for me...
 
whoa! i interviewed 3/11, so they just might be getting close to me.... lol.
 
wait, how were you able to interview on wednesday? I thought interviews were only conducted tuesday, thursday and friday?

I'm just going to assume that this "baxtheman" character is a troll spamming the boards with lies and propaganda. We ALL know that there is no Wednesday interview.

Just got the email that I'm on the alternate list. I hope this is the same as a waitlist because i got the impression that it was accepted>waitlist>alternate>rejected. I wish they provided a better explanation in the decision email. I interviewed on the last day (3/25) and wasn't expecting to hear back until May 15th. I think all of us that interviewed that day kind of suspected it was for waitlist spots though.

The alternate list is the waitlist at GW. They are the same thing.
 
Does anyone know how large the GWU alternate list is (does everyone who interviews get onto the list) and about what percent of applicants on that list get off every year)?

Whoops, I just checked my e-mail I interviewed March 2. I was very surprised with the fast turnaround, I was not expecting to hear until late April...
 
Sorry for the double post. My status has now changed to

Correspondence concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via postal mail to your preferred mailing address on file with AMCAS.

I'm guessing this is a rejection post-interview since those that have been accepted have gotten emails and alternates have a different status. 🙁
 
sorry🙁 I think so though...I was put on the alternate list today and my status changed reflecting this.

alternate list. interviewed 3/5. sad face!

still going to remain hopeful and proactive as this is my top choice though. sigh.
 
Sorry to hear about the news guys. When did everyone interview if you don't mind me asking? Mine was in the second week of March, so just trying to figure out when exactly I should be hearing some news... :whistle:

if i remember correctly, you use your email addy and a password that they assign to you -- if you've never logged in before, you should probably just click "first time user" and it'll set you up.

i interviewed second week of march too, and from what i've gathered from posts is that we should be hearing this week if the timing's consistent

Does anyone know roughly how many people were put on the alternate list?
 
My weird status above turned out to be an acceptance! Got the package in the mail. I interviewed 3/4
 
a lot...I'm thinking a few hundred at least, just because GW interviews soo many people. I have heard of post-interview rejections, but I think most ppl are waitlisted if they aren't accepted. But really, I'm just guessing.

My friend just called me to tell me she was accepted today. She interviewed mid-March. So, there are still spots!

interviewed March 12th, and sent in a letter of interest last week!
 
Alternate list today in email. Interviewed march 25th, which was the last day. I thought it would take them 6-8 weeks. I am guessing they are done with decisions maybe.

Has anyone who interviewed the last day received an acceptance?

They also want you to send in a letter of interest again! What the heck, I already sent in a couple and they asked for one when i was placed on hold. lol What more do i say?
 
Has anyone been accepted off the alternate list yet? If so, was the notification by email, phone, or status page?
 
Alternate list. Interviewed March 9th.

Bummed. Really, really bummed. I think the list must be at least a few hundred people. The email was rather positive saying that "many people on this list get accepted".

Does anyone have an idea about this process? How much of a chance do we have? Are all spots taken now?

How much truth is in this statement?
 
FinAid awards are up, you should have an email with the link to login to see your award.

As for mine....it's not quite what I was hoping for since it's 90% loans 🙁 with a small GW scholarship but at least it covers all expenses....

"Many" are accepted but most are not. The second part is true tho - they won't accept anyone until at least may 15. So I guess that for at least the next 3 weeks don't expect to hear about any movement.

Yea, GWU is really expensive. Its gonna be tough to agree to pay that much money.

What about for people who yet to be accepted? Think they'll get any awards? I'm worried that a late acceptance might turn into a nightmare, meaning no money to pay the down payment :scared:

Regarding housing, where do most medical students live? I don't remember anything about this from my interview day.
 
For GW med students, do you know if GW matches scholarships offered by other medical schools? I love GW and if money wasn't an issue I'd most definitely go here, but I have an offer from another school (half-tuition scholarship) that is making my decision more difficult, especially since GW isn't offering me much money aside from loans.

Should I even bother asking the finaid office?😕

My understanding is that they do not match these kinds of offers. Sorry.

It doesn't hurt to ask! I know of at least one student in the past who got more scholarship money this way (not me though!).
 
i just withdrew from the alternate list - i hope this allows some movement for some of you

There's actually google groups set up for students like you. Just give them a call.

Is the office supposed to have received the 100$ deposity by 5/15 or is ok if it's postmarked tomorrow and gets there on monday? Technically I could overnight it so it arrives on Sat but who know for sure?
