I spoke to Dr. Brooks on the phone and sent her an "in the area" email to follow up on the voicemail. Most likely I'll probably annoy the hell out of them before I get an interview, but they have to at least realize how badly I want to go to this school. Good luck to you as well, here's hoping we'll meet there as MS1s.
 
anyone interview 11/4 or earlier and hear nothing about a decision at this point?

Hmmm, what did she say?
 
I was told by some interviewees that the handout given out at the beginning of the day outlining the program says that the faculty interview is 1 hour long. But the faculty interviews actually lasted 20-25 minutes. I know it varies a lot from one interviewer to another. But I think that 20-25 mins is just not enough?

Anyone has any insight into how the acceptance, waitlist or rejection decision is made and who makes it?

Collosalmockery, I know you really want Jeff, so let me assure you.

My interviewer showed up at his office an hour after my scheduled interview time (he had an urgent meeting or medical situation, I'm not sure)...started reading over my application at that time, and then proceeded to interview me about 10 minutes after he returned to his office. My interview was scheduled for 45 minutes, and only lasted about 12 minutes...definitely not more than 20 minutes. Do not worry...the length of time is not correlated with likelihood of acceptance.

After your interview, your interviewer will attend the committee meeting, present your case, and then you'll find out if you've been accepted or waitlisted or rejected. Turnaround time varies depending on when your interviewer can make it to a committee meeting. Best of luck! :luck: I hope you get in.

Does this school do silent rejections? I was complete here for a long long time and no news. Safe to assume rejection at this point?

Almost every school sends out rejections at the end of the interview cycle. There's little reason to reject applicants until all interview spots have been filled and attended. Jeff interviews til mid-April so I wouldn't expect you to hear about rejections until then.

I was complete 8/2 & was notified by email a little while ago. I didn't really know that much about the school, so it came as no surprise. I have an acceptance so it really takes the sting out!

At least Jefferson was nice enough to let you guys know that you're no longer being considered. Silent rejections are probably the worst... As far as I know I'm still being considered at Loyola (and I applied last year 😛)

Got the rejection e-mail this morning.
The weird thing is: I never received the 'complete' message. (I submitted my secondary and LOR in late November) On the status page, it still says 'no' next to the 'letter received' box. Could they review and reject an applicant within 2 weeks? Should I call them and ask?

The information on that page isn't always up to date. You were probably complete two weeks ago, but they didn't change it on the status page. You can always call to make sure though, it wouldn't hurt anything...

My interviewer showed up right on time and the interview lasted for at least 40 minutes... So yes, it definitely varies based on your interviewer.

As far as the decision-making process, the first thing my interviewer said was "I'm your best friend starting now" so that makes me think that the student interview means pretty much nothing and it's basically just yor faculty interviewer talking about you when they make the decisions.

I think you might be reading too much into the interviewer's comment. I don't have any specific info on TJU, but at other schools that have student interviewers, the students definitely have a say, and it is very dangerous to assume that a student interview "means pretty much nothing"

I have heard (completely anecdotal and I have no evidence) that students generally give very favourable reviews, so the student interview is not worth as much as the faculty interview.

It's likely that a good student interview may not help you stand out, but a bad student interview will definitely be held against you.

This is pretty much what I meant ... sorry if "doesn't mean anything" was a bit harsh. I'm sure the students have some say, or they wouldn't include it in the interview day. I just meant that the faculty interview is weighed much more heavily, unlike some schools where the student and faculty interviews are more equal. Sorry about that!

so only one person heard so far from those who interviewed last wednesday (Dec 2?). How did you itnerview on Friday (Dec4?)

Hmm, most people heard the next week on Thursday so I guess we will see more responses here tomorrow?
 
I think the person above means November 4th is when they interviewed. I interviewed last Wednesday and did not get a call today. Hopefully will hear soon. I loved everything about Jefferson!

Yea and I interviewed 11/18 and haven't heard anything yet... no new is good news so far though?
 
Hi guys, what is the estimated cost per year for Jefferson? Does anyone have the breakdowns including tuition and cost of living expenses?

Yeah, pretty much how it works is that the student interviewer writes up a report and assigns a score. The report and score are presented by a student representative when the faculty is also presenting what they felt. For the most part student interviewers tend to grade easier, so if you don't have a good student interview it's pretty much a red flag.

I thought I heard the exact opposite, that student interviewers can be harsher (which made sense in my head since they might feel more invested in choosing their own classmates), but again no evidence here either.
 
So how many people do you guys think were rejected the other day?

I wonder if they do this periodically, or if its like a once a season event.

My guess would be in the thousands considering how many people from just SDN got an email.
 
seems no buzz here from those who interviewed last week ... tomorrow is the last day to get the response within the first week as Dr. Callahan said that most of you will likely hear within the first week. hmm.

I was complete this week sometime, although I think I went from complete to interview pretty quick. My status still shows that my LOR's haven't been received.
