i mean there is nothing necessitating that they get back at us today.... if they run behind then they will finish next week lol.

aamcas just necessitates they get back at us by 5/15.

so yeaaaa.

at interview day, they sounded pretty certain that all initial decisions would be made by the 28th. maybe today will just be an extra long meeting day, and we won't hear from them until later this afternoon?
 
Nothing either, but while we wait here's a story that relates. I was waiting on another school a few months ago and the time that they made the calls was late evening on Tuesday's I think. I read on SDN that it shows up on your caller ID as "private" or "blocked." I was sitting by my phone like I am now and it rang... and it said "PRIVATE"... and I got all excited... and it was to confirm my blood donation appointment. Waitlisted by mail a week later.
 
yeah, they may not be able to finish today because it seems like there are a LOT of people to get through.

Also, they may finish at like 7pm and hit us back in the morning. we have no idea lol...
 
yeah, i think it's a good thing that none of us have heard yet...in the past, it seemed like people got the call between 330 and 5 pm, so if no one's heard anything yet their meeting is probably running later than usual. therefore they may be trying to finish up tonight for us! 👍

Then the meeting is probably over. So either the rest of us will hear back tonight... or they will get to us at a later date.

Either way, when did you interview?

Do they send WL e-mails today also? So, at least I can move on with my day.
 
anybody get any info about second look day after you sent in the confirmation form that you'll attend?

I got the call around 4:30. Interviewed 4/14, DEFINITELY going here.

does anyone know if the waitlist is really prioritized or if they are just being nice and putting everyone in the hp waitlist pool?
 
It really seems that everyone is placed in the HP waitlist 🙁 so chances aren't that high on there.

Incorrect. There are two waitlists, the HP waitlist and the "alternate" list. I have no idea how many are people are placed in each. But, the alternate list is essentially a rejection. They never exhaust the HP list in filling spots each year. So, bottom line, you still have a shot being on the HP list.

My advice: Keep your name in front of Callahan/Brooks. It is my belief that they (and not the adcom) are the ones who select folks from the HP list when spots open - and spots will open. Frequent expressions of your high level of interest in attending Jeff really makes a difference to them.

I thought my interviews went great.

Alternate list is the same thing as a rejection, right? Note that I'm not DIMER or any special program, who apparently can get off of the alternate list...
 
I'm also on the alternate list, Imnastywitit. Apparently, if you look a few pages back into this thread, someone said (according to Dr. Callahan) the breakdown b/w HP and alt list is 50-50. It sure seems as though a higher percentage is on the HP list, though.

Also, I spoke with Dr. Brooks about my chances and she said I'm still very much alive even though I'm on the alt list. I'm not holding my breath though.

i was really hoping we would both get good news yesterday!

I also thought my interviews went very well, so i guess this goes to show you really can never tell. i hope you've got some other great options!

I've never heard of anyone getting off the alternate list who wasn't in a special category situation (DIMER, PSAP, URM, etc.). If you're not in one of those categories, it seems to me they would have to exhaust the HP waitlist before getting to you and they haven't done that since I've been here. But, what do I know ... Good luck!
 
My only claim to fame is that I am a failed Penn post-bac linkage student from last year--missed it by one point on the verbal section my first try.

Is that the policy? They exhaust the HP before even looking at the alternate list?
 
so does anyone have a hunch about whether the HP (or alt) waitlist is ranked and ppl at the top will get calls first OR whether it is unranked and they pick ppl whose profiles match those who withdraw acceptance?

Thx for the support. But nah i don't have any acceptances and I only have one 'real' waitlist so it looks that's it for this cycle. I'll reapply, it's all good though.
 
Anyone know if Dr. Callahan send a confirmation email once you say you'd like to be on the HP list? I wasn't sure if I should send another letter of interest or call or something to help boost my chances.

I would just go the email route. You could email admissions and CC Callahan/Brooks.


Also, I left Second Look after the small group clinical tours. Did I miss anything important after? Thanks

I was gonna ask if I missed anything besides the clinical tours on the second day? I had to crawl out of the frat house that I passed out in around 9 am...and there was no way i was doing any clinical tours. Basically I wanted to know if I missed out on any presentations or anything?

hahahha you only missed some powerpoint based speeches... my clinical tour was cool and I feel I got lucky with a funny guy but other than that you didn't miss much. It was all about MPH/JeffHope/Professionalism/DailyLife/etc type stuff. Nothing too crucial. I just hope I didn't miss much after the clinical tour since I needed to leave because my parking was up.
 
I had to leave earlier too. Was there anything good about international opportunities?
 
for those who are accepted, is there any deposit we have to make by certain date??? I know some schools have deadline coming up but I never heard from jefferson... just wanted to know if i'm missing anything.
