I still havnt gotten this secondary, and i was verified on 6/2...maybe im being crazy but shoudl i call them...this is seriously driving me crazy.

I would call. It's been two weeks since the first set of applications were sent out, and you were in that first batch. It won't take long to complete, but it'll put your mind at ease, at least. You're not towards the end of the alphabet, are you?

anybody else get this this morning?

I didn't, but I already got the secondary a week later than most people here, so I'm not too worried about it.

for those of you who got the letter, would you mind sharing when your application was complete? and did you get an email saying your application was complete before the "moving to a smaller pool" email?! thanks and congrats 😉

I was complete 6/29. I don't remember getting an email about it. I believe I just checked my status on their application site. I REALLY hope that email means good things....

That email does mean good things. You have to receive it to get an interview. I got that email last year and got an email about a month later for an interview. That was such a great day! I just wish I would get that email, I keep refreshing my inbox but there is nothing... 🙁 I was complete 6/25, this doesn't bode well for me.

Yeah. Just emailed her and told her the situation. Said I needed a letter acknowledging my application to med school and my status in the program. She said she would be more than happy to write one on my behalf. I was really surprised, because I haven't even seen her in person yet. Actually, I haven't even moved across the country yet.
Worked for me too! Thanks again for the idea! I'm back in the game!

I was complete on 7/7, so Tuesday. I didn't get an email, I just checked the status on my secondary page.

As for alphabetical...I'm in the middle of the alphabet (L), so I don't think it would be. But maybe

AHH I want to get in!!! I don't know if you can find a medical school with nicer students. Observing a class there was awesome. I live in WI and it isn't in the middle of nowhere at all by Wisconsin standards (for us, that is usually noted by the smell of manure :d)!

Hopefully submitting 07/08 with all LOEs and transcripts received, verification won't take too long. :scared:

Best of luck to everyone!

It's weird, since I applied early too and have already been moved to a "smaller" pool of applicants.

my LOR's were sent at the beginning of the week, what's taking them so long to complete me 😴

Do you think that means that those of us who are complete and didn't receive that email have been pre-rejected? :scared:

don't worry. I think SDN just allows for a bit of excess neuroticism. Don't take anything as a rejection until it's explicit.

finally complete! yay im done here, now just waiting for awesome emails 😉

Well, I think I'm going to add this school to my list after my AMCAS gets verified next weekend. Looks like a fun place with great facilities.

I got a verification in the mail of my wisconsin residency. I got the letter and was concerned that I had been rejected already... :scared:

haha glad that wasn't just me...i freaked out, opened it, and then realized I haven't even certified my secondary yet...and laughed at myself. That's really mean of them though, couldn't they just give us an email? Or tell us to check our status page? Whew.

waiiit a minute how come on my amcas it shows that MCW participates in letter services and i havent assigned them?!!!!!!! i sent them directly to them, are we supposed to assign them on amcas too?!! 😱

I think you're only supposed to assign them on AMCAS

damn i feel like an idiot i donno where i read that we have to send it to them! ahh they did receive it though (4 days after i submitted) now i wonder if i should assign them on amcas too?!!! 😕

btw im already complete here!

I would say if you are complete it's all good. They HAVE your letters, even if it wasn't through AMCAS!! I wouldn't worry about it!! 😀

Although I previously submitted my LOR's through AMCAS, which was verified a week or so ago, MCW has yet to note having received my LOR's. Anybody know why they say they don't have em?

Thanks!

I got the secondary email today a minute after I got the acknowledgment email from UCI. I'm guessing it was screening purely on numbers by a computer..

Thanks! It is all worked out. Good luck and God speed!

what is the link to the status page? I can't seem to find it!

any advice on how to get an interview at mcw? it's one of my top choices. i have a 3.35 cgpa and bcpm. im taking mcat on the 30th so probably around a 30. i have research experience and the other parts of my application are good. my stats are low and i can't redeem myself through a secondary essay bc they have none 🙁 i will be complete by beg of september. should i write a letter of intent, call up admissions office to show my interest, any suggestions?

I was AMCAS verified 6/5 and still not secondary from them. I guess it's time to call

hey guys what did you mark down for the right to waive lors?

whats the advantage/disadvantage of waiving rights?

I would always wave your LOR rights. This is just my opinion (so take with a grain of salt) but basically waiving your rights just tells the school that your recommenders could write whatever they want about you (good or bad). In other words, you didn't view the LORs before you submitted them to the medical school so what your recommenders wrote about you was not swayed by thinking you might see what they wrote. Also, the school would know that you didn't choose to leave out a negative LOR because you viewed it and saw that it was negative. One of my recommenders offered to let me see my LOR, and even though I looked at it I knew that I in no way influenced what it said about me so I officially waived my LOR rights anyway. Hope this helps and good luck :luck:

Agreed.

also, if you received a recommendation from a PI for whom you've conducted research with, would it go under professional or work reference?

you pick, they'll figure it out. I put mine as work reference I think, since I'm definitely not a pro with research.

You totally ruined my day...

So I went to a fairly large UG university (UW-Madison) and didn't really care about getting to know professors. Well now I apply to MCOW and find out they are the only med school I know of requiring UG LORs. Every other school and their brother just wants academic letters. Well I have three very good academic letters from my graduate studies but none from UG. MCOW just went from somewhere closer to the top of my list to I'm probably not even applying there anymore. Frustrating.

did you call them? they might make an exception

what are people using for their pic? all i really have are my senior pics from high school but they have that little '05 in the lower right corner. does it really matter?

In all honesty, prob not, but they did say recent lol. just take a picture at home with a white background and upload it.

most of them say they want a recent pic so i wouldn't use one from 05. i actually got my bf to take a picture of me... tried to just make it look like a passport photo

Take any cell phone, snap a picture and resize it in any one of a million photo editing softwares.
