Does anyone know if it is possible to get in off the waitlist before the class is full? My waitlist letter said that I could be accepted any time between my placement on the list and the beginning of the next school year, which seems to leave open the possibility of getting in before a waitlist person would normally get in.

Has anyone who has received an interview been small pooled in October or November? I know the small pool email says that invites are based on both credentials and date of completing and I'm wondering if one is more important the other. Anyone have any insight into this issue?

Thanks

When I talked to him this summer, I asked if my committee letter not being finished until september was really going to hurt my application. He said once you're in the small pool, while completion date is important, credential strength is moreso. Seeing as some people small-pooled way after I was got interview invites before I did, I guess that's probably true.

my situation is kinda like yours. smallpooled on 8-18. IS/3.69/31R. i was worried but i think there are a lot of people with our situation.

Man, seems like people who submitted in late sept and later have no chance at this school. It's probably because they interview only 2x a month! a 9/21 small pooler here....hope to hear of something soon!

I got an interview recently and was small pooled on the same date. Don't give up yet.

Thanks for the hope. Maybe this coming week they will send out interview invites or did they already send out interview invites for january interviews??????? Seems they didn't last week. But with holidays coming up not to sure about it. Just keep fingers crossed.

I agree, it took well over two months for me (and that's not the longest of people on here!).

Oh, and waitlisted. )#($*@! very, very sad.

3 months and change for me. Sorry :-(, do you have acceptances elsewhere?

I interview on Jan 8th. For those of you who have interviewed already, how long does it take to hear back from MCW post-interview?

Post interview is very timely. One week for most. And at the interview they give you a sheet that says the exact day they make decisions and send acceptances

This seems to be one of the worst schools for applying late....bull****

Hey guys. I'm what most people would consider very late in the matriculation process. I wasn't complete at MCOW until the very start of December. Is there any hope left for an interview? Looking at the recent posts, it doesn't seem to look like it.

The outlook does not seem bright. I've been complete since early september and still no invite. Actually, if you have a 4.0/45 you may skip everyone else and get an invite I suppose since they give priority to competitiveness and date of completion in the small pool. Good luck!

1 week? not bad. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the interview!

withdrew from my interview, someone might want to try calling and see if they'll give you an interview mid jan

Interview for Feb.

How did you like your interviews? What do they look for in applicants? What are they strong in?

I did enjoy my interview. I personally think this is an up-and-coming school. I'm not sure if there is anything particular that they look for in applicants (besides the usual, of course). As far as I can tell, they are strong in imaging research (partnership with GE) and pediatrics (Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is an affiliate). In my (somewhat biased) opinion, it is a solid school in a fairly good location (near Milwaukee but not downtown by any means; cheap cost of living) with good/very good (perhaps not to the point of excellent) facilities and a pretty decent amount of research going on. Might be worth a look if you're interested, but if you're only interviewing for the waitlist, I can see why you wouldn't want to.

Ok I think I've met my parenthetical comment quota for the day haha

So I got an interview invite on Dec 1 and am scheduled for Jan 8.

My question is, what the heck am I supposed to wear to the interview (I'm a guy)? It's freezing cold there and I am not used to that kind of weather being from California.

Athos - just wear a typical suit that you'd wear to any other interview. Once you arrive, there should really be no need to be outside (i.e. no need for extra clothing) until you are finished. But for traveling to WI and from car to buildings, etc, be sure to bring a coat.

Yeah, wear a heavier coat over your suit jacket. They have a huge room where everybody puts their coats/luggage when you check in in the morning, so bring whatever you need to, you won't have to carry it around all day.

Snow shoes, gloves, mittens, boots, ear muffs, hat, ski mask, sweater, and coat. 😉

It's cold but you'll be indoors the whole time you are at the school. So if you don't plan on being outside for much you should be fine with a coat. Technically if you get out of the taxi/shuttle right in front of school, there is no need for a coat. But you may want to go out and explore/have fun, so a coat would be nice.

so does anyone know if the class is full?

When the class is full, the interview invites will start to say "You are invited to interview for a spot on the waitlist". Last year, the last interview day that was still for open spots was the second interview date in January (the 23rd last year).

Interview invite for February! For those wondering, my email said it is an interview for a place in the entering class, not a waitlist, so there's still hope for you!

So if you thought the process was ridiculous: I was complete in late July, and was placed in the "smaller pool" August 18... And just now received an interview invitation. Hmm..

Interview Invite for Feb 5th, it didnt say it was for a waitlist position so thats good news.

I was complete early July, lol I cant believe it.

Small pooled 8/18.

When were you small pooled? 9/21 for me...nothing yet. very depressed😳

the drive time is up to you. but make sure that you aren't driving through a snow storm or anything. farmer's almanac says it's going to be a cold a snowy winter in the midwest, and so far it's been fairly accurate.

but i drove ~5 hrs once. wasn't bad

Interview invite for February! Small pooled 9/21. Good luck to the rest of you!
