I haven't heard word from Sinai yet (interviewed mid December). Haven't even received a rejection letter in the mail yet (most of the people on my day heard back on the 6th) and I live like an hour away. Should I call or wait it out a little bit?

What did they say on interview day? I remember the office assistant remarking that she doesn't like people calling post-interview about their status because she doesn't want to have an awkward conversation along the lines of "you're rejected". I interviewed mid-October and they told us only to call if we hadn't heard anything by early December. I assume they gave you similar advice so I'd suggest following it.

I'd say call them up. There's really no harm in calling. Good luck!!

I'd wait a little longer.

I am pretty sure the office is closed today because its MLK day.

But I cant imagine it being such an awful thing to call. It does seem strange that you haven't heard back yet. And if they sent you a rejection letter it should have come by now.

And not calling to spare the very sweet woman who works in admissions the guilt of potentially saying you've been rejected seems to me as it should be trumped by your sincere desire to know your standing after having waited for so long.

I cannot imagine it hurting you. If you are in a place in admissions limbo this would at least show them that you care. Although a sincere hand written letter might be better, I can imagine the agony of waiting is getting to you.

So how long does Sinai typically take post-interview to send out a decision?

sooo if there has been no word at all from mt sinai (pre-interview, that is), it is better to give up, right?

I'm in the same boat you are, but I've kind of given up hope on the schools I haven't heard from yet 🙁

Has anyone interviewed here recently? I am going to be there in the first week of February and am curious how the process is going.

Does anyone know what address we need to send our Transcripts to?

I am an upperclassman at Mount Sinai, so if anyone has any specific questions, feel free to post them here or PM me (although I know nothing about invites/acceptances).

Wow, I just received an interview invite! 🙂 I was complete since August and had more or less assumed there was very little hope. How late in the interview season is it for them and how much of a disadvantage am I at going now? Though it's probably not going to stop me from going regardless..

Invite here as well!

Are you on Feb. 10 fluffyrabbit? (teehee)

I want to move mine though cause I'm at Columbia on the 19th

There's absolutely no disadvantage from getting an interview late. I know many people who interviewed in Feb. and were accepted (not waitlisted). Sometimes some people who are reviewing the applications are just slow...

I'm on the 12th. While it is closer to the 19th, I can't imagine it being very helpful. =P

MSSM is rolling, or am I just not remembering right? It's good to hear that I'm not interviewing for just a waitlist spot. 🙂

It is rolling in the sense that they send out multiple batches of acceptances, but they accept people throughout the entire interview season. So no, you aren't interviewing just for a waitlist spot.

About 45% of Sinai interviewees eventually get an acceptance (either directly or after being placed on the waitlist). Compared to many schools that means your odds are actually not too bad.

Interview invite today for a Feb. 11th interview. Submitted in mid August, not sure when exactly I was complete. I didn't think I had a chance of hearing from them at this point, but I did, so don't lose hope!

sinai interviews until early march, yeah? it sounds like they're going on a second round through applicants and they're inviting for early-mid feb. hopefully that means there are still a few spots left :xf::xf::xf::xf:

Ah. I would die for an invite here.

I sent an update in late December but I did not receive any acknowledgement from Sinai. Most schools replied to my update saying "Thank You." or "This will be added to your file." etc... but I got nothing from Sinai.

I hope they added it to my file...?

Great... Definitely nice to know!

Thanks for doing the dirty work for me 👍

I also just got an invite for Feb 12th. Complete on August 28th.

Has anyone tried to move it? What other dates are possible? I got the email too late to call today to move it for work. Do they interview on Monday Feb 15th?

Damn. I'm jealous, but CONGRATS!!! You give me some hope 🙂

I was complete in mid September, so hopefully they'll be getting to me soon.

what date are interviews supposed to go until?

So then the dates will go into around april. or at least mid-march. Definitely some spots left for this school.

Sorry that's for interview invites.

wait, so to clarify, they said they'll keep sending invites until mar 1, meaning the actual interviews will probably go until 1-2 weeks into march? not that the interviews themselves end mar 1? cause if so, that's great news! thanks 🙂

Sec submitted July 7th. No word since. I sent an update a couple weeks ago, but didn't even hear back. I remember calling at one point to check to see if I was complete, but she said to call back next week. I never called back. Maybe they'll show me some love in the next month?

Does anyone know what the waitlist movement is like here? It Sinai a school where that means they like you and you have a good shot or is it a waitlist=reject?

People are accepted off of the waitlist. I don't know how liberal they are about adding people to the waitlist vs. outright rejecting them, but if you're on the waitlist you still have hope. It isn't over until the first day of classes. (That's the story of how my mother made it into medical school...)

The question is does anyone have details. I've heard from someone in their admissions dept that they accept anywhere from 20 to 100 people off their wait list.

This year are they expanding the amount of Humeds they take???

I really want to go to sinai. Any info would be great. How many people are usually on the waitlist? how many this year??? How many people do they reject post interview?
If anyone knows the answer to any of these questions let me know.

Interview invite yesterday! I've been complete since the summer so I wasn't expecting to ever hear back lol.

Hey they said that they have interview dates through the middle of march, when I asked to move my interview around. I'm sticking with Feb 12th in case anyone else will be there around then.

I think I read somewhere that of those interviewed 45% get in, either right off or from the waitlist, so good luck to everyone.

Interview Invite! Complete sometime in the beginning of August, so if you have been waiting for like 6 months, I would have to say don't lose hope just yet.

Seeing that I am probably interviewing one of the last possible interview days of this cycle, do you think I may just be interviewing for a position on the waitlist?

Interview Invite today 🙂 Complete sometime at the beginning of October. Don't lose hope. I am so shocked and excited by this invite!! Yeay!

that is so good to hear! lets hope its true :xf:

Tis very true:

2008 admissions data 44% accepted (includes those waitlisted then accepted).
6730 applied, 847 interviewed, 374 were accepted, 140 enrolled

For those accepted, besides FAFSA, do you know where we can find other forms necessary for financial aid? Or is FAFSA it?

Can those who've interviewed comment on the organization of the day?

Two interviews in the morning? Or one in the morning, one in the afternoon? When's the tour (and does 'clinical tour" refer to the hospital)?

Thanks!

So I finally called. I was told that I would receive something first week of February 😕 and that I had already been reviewed. Probably a rejection, so I'm not getting my hopes up about this one:laugh:. Good luck to everyone here!

Looking at one of your acceptances in particular, I wouldn't worry about it at all 👍... good luck with the rest of your cycle.
