Hey guys.

Do you know when students have to declare interest/apply for Sinai's MD/MBA program?

Also, I'm assuming the PORTAL program and the MD/MBA are mutually exclusive: you cant do both? Is that correct?

Just received an interview invitation today. Nice early xmas present. Thank you baby Jesus.

Complete (when I called and found out) on 10/5
Sent an in-the-area email with some significant updates on 12/16
Interview for the week of 1/25

Unfortunately this is about two weeks after I'll be in NY. I really don't want to make another trip. Any experience changing interview dates here? Hoping they will accommodate my request.
 
I never received any email from them or found any info about the portal program until 3 days after my med school interview in mid december.

i think i wil be interviewing for the portal proggram soon though and want to know what the interview was like? anyone interview for the portal progam and want to share some of their experience? it really seems like an awsome program.

Sorry if this has been already answered or discussed but is this the type of school that does silent rejections pre-interview or have people actually gotten rejections?
 
really hoping for some waitlist movement here....anyone know how much of the class they fill with waitlist?

also, I hear Sinai really likes high MCAT acheivers for initial acceptances. That true?

i have no idea where people get this kind of info. 😕😕 i got a november 4th acceptance, and my MCAT is not blow-you-away amazing.
 
Is Mount Sinai still sending out interview invites? I've been complete since mid August and haven't heard anything. =(

Hey Fulfilnadream,

Good to meet you too. The interview day was pretty cool and you guys were a nice bunch of people. Hopefully you are staying away from football for a while 😀. Sorry, I can't be of more help, don't know much about the portal program.

Got an invite for 2/16. No idea when I was complete.

Quick Question: Is it appropriate to bring an update letter to an interview or should I just send it in afterward?

i still havent heard of a host. not sure what to do.
 
Does anyone else think they'll be sending out a round of admissions tomorrow? Its been a while since the last round...and I'm dying to find out whether I got in!
 
Why tomorrow? Do they send acceptances out on Tuesdays? I interviewed early December and I remember them saying they'd probably send something the first or second week of January. Tomorrow would be nice, though!
 
THey actually sent last round out 12/2 which was on a wed (my proof is earlier in this forum) although I am super anxious about Sinai and really see myself at the place. I really want to get in!!! if anyone

Hey there, I interviewed for the portal program back in October. I had a 3rd interview with someone from the program. This interview lasted longer than the other 2 for the MD program and was focused on research. The guy was very nice and told me that all decisions for portal will be non-rolling and will be sent out towards the end of the application cycle (March onward). He also said that the portal program grants you an M.Sc in clinical research, a degree which is typically pursued by people who are already MDs and are looking for more training. He said that it will be very demanding during the first 2 years (since you have a research project starting, in addition to normal MD training), but you will take a year (probably between year 3 and year 4) to focus on only research. I think they accept a very small number of people into the program, but I forget what the exact number is.
 
They started posting their second round of decisions. I was wait-listed. I love Sinai and I am super sad and heart broken. I am sure a flood of people will be hearing and posting today. good luck to all of you.
 
Waitlisted as well. Very upset, and now I have to pay a ****load of money to travel for remaining interviews as I would have rescinded invites if accepted here.
 
A December 15th interviewee was accepted today.
 
Anyone know how their waitlist works? Is it ranked? Is it possible to call and found out the position on the waitlist?

Yikes, you heard back already? I guess that is not good news for me...
 
TAYLORMD: From what it seems, it sounds like bad news as everyone seems to get in or wait listed at the same time and rejections dont hear till later by snail mail much later. BUT i hope I am wrong and very well could be. My reasoning is not to solid but that seems to be the pattern. But ur such an impressive candidate i find it hard to believe im correct! Im rooting for you!
 
If we want to send an update letter (pre interview invite), who should we direct it to? The general admissions email?
 
anyone know how long sinai interviews for? i'd like to send an in the area but don't want to look ridiculous if they stop this month like nyu. i can't find it on their website anywhere!

I called a few weeks back to check my status, and I think they told me that they interview into March.
 
I am interviewing during the first week of Feb. so I know they arent done yet -- at least I hope not!😳 I wonder how many spots they have left to fill? Can't be many.

Thanks, I appreciate it Fulfilnadream. I haven't received notice by email or snail mail yet and I don't live too far away so I'm not sure. Would it be bad if I walked over there during my lunch hour to ask my status? Hahaha :laugh:, jk. I'll be fine either way, just really liked Sinai. 🙁

I was wondering the same thing. This admissions process is well...😱😡👎luck::xf: and with any crazy luck 😍. But for now 😕
 
If we sign and return the paperwork in the acceptance package, does that commit ourselves to attending Mount Sinai?
 
nope. just confirms your place for the spot in the class
 
anybody know if mount sinai responds to in-the-area emails, both if they want to interview you and if they dont? (vs simply ignoring or not responding if they don't want to interview you). if so, how long does it usually take? i'm deciding on plane tickets now and it's cheaper for the non-refundable ones, so if they do respond for sure one way or another i'll hold out for a few more days and if not, i'll suck it up and pay a little bit more for southwest's always returnable ones (for a the very slight chance, i know)
 
I sent them an in-the-area email in December but they never got back to me. I didn't give them a lot of notice though.

Still waiting to hear anything. Complete early October-ish, would love to interview. I didn't know too much about the school when I was doing secondaries but everyone I've talked to who interviewed there absolutely loved it. Give me a chance Sinai!
 
For people who were waitlisted, did you receive a confirmation that they'd received your request to stay on the waitlist?

i'm guessing you want to know this because you're sending in an update? i'd just address it to the committee, not to her specifically.
 
I haven't heard word from Sinai yet (interviewed mid December). Haven't even received a rejection letter in the mail yet (most of the people on my day heard back on the 6th) and I live like an hour away. Should I call or wait it out a little bit?
