"A number of individuals (I'd estimate 10 or so) get accepted directly of the post-interview hold list. Ultimately, the others are added to the waitlist. As the application cycle draws to an end, there is a decent amount of people that move off the waitlist. I believe almost 20 (if not more) of my classmates are off the waitlist.

I don't know for sure, but these are my rough estimates of the waitlist. Already this year, a number of individuals have been accepted off the post-interview hold list.

Of course i'm hoping for something around 30 ppl from the hold list... but realistically i'd *predict* maybe 10-15? I don't really know... just hoping for the best

Technically, both are same. I guess, he means

1. Last year, around 10 persons were accepted off the Hold list before April 30 (when interview process was still on). This cycle, I also observed that some people were put on Holds in Nov/Dec and accepted off the Hold list in Feb/March for example, Aycaramba
2. After May 15, all the Hold list virtually considered Wait list. and last year around 20 persons were accepted from Hold/Wait list after May 15

This is my best interpretation of his PM reply.
Now I think, around 20 persons will be accepted off the Hold list

Again, it is my best guess.

I thought the post-interview hold list and the waitlist were one in the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So far 11 people reported in this thread that they are on Hold List and 100% interested to matriculate Penn State, if accepted off the Hold List.

I'm also on hold, but am only 50% sure I'd attend, as I got accepted to my state school yesterday, and would have difficulty saying no to Brooklyn.

State School is much better than the OOS Penn State for cost of attendance. I don't wont to buried under pile of debt. I would definitely go to my State school.

I called the front desk and they also gave me some new information. She said that they would be releasing people from the hold list soon and when I mentioned that I had heard it wouldn't be till June she said that's a possibility but I got the impression that it might be sooner. Additionally, she said that they are CALLING people but that you should keep your AMCAS up to date so that they can reach you by other means, as well.

The people in the admissions office are somewhat mysterious in answering questions about the waitlist movement. Never have I gotten a straightforward answer, which sucks in comparison to some other schools.

She gave me the impression that movement would be very soon, but didn't give me an exact timetable (like most of the medical school admissions offices). She said the June date sounded plausible, though I got the impression it may be sooner. And yes to the second point-they wanted to call us to have a quicker turn around.

Just called and the person on the phone said there had been some movement but they expect more movement in the beginning of June. The FB group has 140ish people in it, so assuming not everyone has facebook, it doesn't sound like there are that many spots left.

a lot of current students are in the group to help answer questions, etc-hopefully there's more spots than you think!

Many students are holding their breath.
What is meaning of "There had been some movement?
1. Pre-May 15 movement? yes, we seen they pulled off some people from Hold list in Feb/March/April.
2. Post-May 15 movement? No one has reported so far for accepted off Hold list (post-May 15)?

Post-May 15 movement would be big one and many people are crossing fingers.

As others said, Face book has lot of (I am repeating lot of) existing M1/M2 Penn State students. We can't relate FB members with available spots.

Ambiguous information will create unnecessary anxiety.

FB group can also have some people who initially accepted, joined FB group, and then withdrew.

there should be quite a few spots opening up (more likely already open).

Not that anyone has reported getting rejected after interview. 99.9% there are no rejection sent until very late (as formality in August-September). I actually remember reading about late rejection in this thread. They said that he/she got a rejection letter after start of 1 week of class.

I will go here also if I get an acceptance! I loved this school!

Try to be patient. The school keeps accepting students right up until orientation begins. You have 24 hours to decided after the dean calls you. You FAX your acceptance.
