I don't think it is reffering to update letters. I sent an update letter via e-mail.

I did the same. I think I sent mine a few days before being wait listed. If you look on the checklist it even has a section for "updated material" and I think that they might count letters as part of that. If you don't have it then it probably pops up after u send something in. In either case I sent them a letter listing new work experience/volunteerism. I also mailed a few additional letters of recommendation as well.

Wait I emailed letters too but nth came up on my check list has an "updated material". but I did receive an email saying it will be taken care of..should I call and confirm?

Hey, me and another Downstate student are looking for a 3rd roommate. We have already filled out an application at an apartment that's close to campus. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you the details.
 
hey everyone - just had an amazing phone call that i was totally not expecting. an interview coordinator from DS left me a vmail telling me to call her back because she "had a few questions" to ask me. I called her back, she asked if i was accepted somewhere else, i said yes and where, she asked if i would go to DS if i was accepted, i said yes, she said well then it's my pleasure to offer you an acceptance (or it went something like that). I was completely shocked 😀

I interviewed on 12/7 and was put on hold for spring consideration around 1/20. I emailed dean gerber several times (a thank you email after the interview, an email about an additional letter of recommendation, etc) - she was always nice and responsive, albeit brief. It's funny because I called this morning and they said my file had not yet been reviewed!
 
Hi Everyone. I've been lurking here since January on behalf of my cousin. You've all been very helpful, so I thought I'd finally post.

My cousin's Downstate acceptance arrived today. He interviewed in February and was Alternate listed in March. He's OOS, with above average stats. Since the Alt list notification, he had sent in his college transcript, a letter of interest, and one of the health forms.

It was a FedEx standard overnight package, sent on the 14th. Contained a congratulatory letter and all the same health forms that came with his alternate letter, plus housing and orientation information. There was no financial aid package included. He was given two weeks to return the confirmation form and $100 deposit.

He loves NY and loved his interview day. Downstate is his top choice, and he'll be enrolling (unless he gets a significantly less expensive option)! 🙂
 
Just got an email today from downstate asking me to reaffirm my interest in SUNY Downstate. I am on hold right now. Did anybody get any email like this? Is this a good sign or do they send it out to everybody? Someone please reply!!

I just got the email too. I interviewed Jan 6th, and have been on hold since Feb. It is strange since yesterday I sent them a letter reconfirming my interest, and they responded saying "thank you for your continued interest in Downstate, we have added this to your file." This makes me think this was just a generic letter sent out to everyone on Hold.

I have this hold and 3 wait lists. I am freaking out! :xf:

I got the same thing...I'm assuming that they sent it to everyone on hold

I got it too but I'm on the alternate list. I even submitted all of my alternate requirements so I assumed that the "interest" part was obvious. I think this was just a generic letter to anyone on alternate or hold.
 
Ditto, I am on hold for spring consideration and just received the interest e-mail.

But I was happy to see it isn't a rejection by email, because for a second when I saw it in my inbox I thought "acceptance!" but then I thought "but it's more likely a rejection!!!!"
 
I got the email too...I've been on hold for spring consideration since the beginning of April (interviewed in Feb), but I'm most likely going to withdraw my app...Good Luck to everyone waiting! I know what it feels like - I've been placed on 6 waitlists so far, but will be withdrawing from 3 of them soon! I hope spots open up for everyone that is waiting to hear back!!!

well, in theory they could have been contacting only individuals that they were seriously considering accepting, but alas, that is not the case.
 
Just withdrew my application from the 'Hold for Spring' list following the email I received earlier this morning.

Best of luck to all those still hoping to get in, and also to the future SUNY Downstate Class of 2014.

I know. I'm just saying there were like eight of us that received that email in this topic so I figured most people had already figured it out.
 
Interviewed 3/15, Alternate List 4/29, Accepted today via Fed Ex!!!

So excited! Love this place and will probably be headed here.
 
Aww, I love Downstate! I used to work there and the people were amazing, which made turning down their acceptance that much harder. It's the only school I wish I didn't have to break up with. It's not you DS, it's me, I'm sorry, but there are plenty of eager med students in the proverbial sea. Stay strong, lol.

FYI, it was an accept off of the Alt list.
 
Can people with "Hold for Spring Consideration" post-interview post or message me your stats and some reflection on your interview performance. I will do my best to analyze!

Also accepted yesterday via fed-ex, thank God, my prayers were answered. I interviewed on 1/6, and was alternate listed about a month later (in state app). This was definitely at the top of my list, and I hope the best for all those still waiting - I'd love to see you in Brooklyn.
 
has anyone been able to complete their interview and sign their perkins loan promissory note online using the instructions on the blue paper? I enter my information but it says my social security # is invalid.
 
Those of you who have been accepted from hold for spring consideration, does your admissions checklist/status check site look any different?
 
Hey guys- I'm out of state....consequently I need to live off campus my first year. Are there any reccomendations on buildings or neighborhoods? Also, is there any way to meet other downstate students fro mthe c/o 2014. Thanks!
 
Accepted yesterday by FedEX overnight. Not sure if I'll take it though.

I emailed them this past week and they sent me this back

"[FONT=Default Sans Serif,Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]We have not at this time placed MS1 students as we were waiting for the May 15th deadline."

So I expect to hear from them soon,

I got the "interest" email way back in January and ended up getting accepted about a week later...im not sure if at this point its a generic email but i guess you should still keep hope 🙂

I already sent in the deposit for the dorms. Do you know when it stops being refundable? The website says something about 60 days prior to the move-in but doesn't give an exact date.
 
Hi all soon to be Downstate MS1's,
The interest letter is a GOOD thing. There were many applicants that were placed on hold that have gotten rejections since having been placed on hold. This means that you have been moved up on the waitlist. Keep hope, something may be coming your way soon!

I'd like to believe this, but how do you know? There's also an easy way to test this: did anyone on the "hold for spring consideration" or "waitlist" NOT get the email?
