My heart just skipped a beat when I saw that application status Email post-interview. I thought I had an acceptance or a rejection already, but I guess we might also have to wait until Oct 15. I have been checking their status page every now and then, I guess the Email does not offer anything new. This waiting game is gruel!

Does anyone know if TCMC, being a new medical college, can offer acceptances before Oct 15 AMCAS guideline?

Any updates from ppl who have already interviewed here? Are they continuing to follow the format discussed previously? Any info would be great!!

one interview, two interviewers, very conversational, about one hour long. They don't have my application in front of them (at least true in my case) but they somehow know everything in my application. They asked me about my only C and some red-flags in my application. Interviews are only offered on Fridays and you will literally spend about 5-6 hours in there. Most, if not all of us, have our questions answered during the interview and informative sessions. So interviewees are encouraged to come up with a list of questions.

They're currently building this new medical center about two blocks away which I think is awesome. There will be two new buildings which will eventually be connected, but, in the meanwhile, medical school will be housed in the first and the third floor of a building that used to be a high school. Second floor is for underg. students. I personally think that they did an awesome job with the limited space that they have. Students seem very happy and locals are very supportive and the rent is cheap. You would pretty much encounter many ADcom members during your interview and it seems like they work hard to make TCMC successful.

Statistically speaking, they will offer upwards from 400 interviews, possibly ~200 accpetances, and 60-65 new matriculants.

omg - I saw that and just about died. My hands were literally shaking. This wait is KILLING me! :scared:

When I interviewed there - one of the current students said he heard back within a week - so I'm not exactly sure. I didn't ask him when he interviewed, so it might have been after Oct. 15th...

I think last year's application cycle for TCMC started in November and earliest interviews were given out in December. Due to a very short application cycle, I am not surprised that he got acceptance offer in December or soon afterwards.

lol, I saw an opening and had to take it..

but back to your question, I just looked at my own responses

for the 3 essays, I had anywhere from ~1600-3200 characters

So I'd try again (try a different browser maybe?), or maybe just put in part of your essay to see if you get any type of error..

Here's an update on the prompts (if anyone is still filling out apps).
I called the admissions office and told them about the 1111 character limit I encountered. They said that they imposed the limit mid-process because some people were just writing way too much. They also said that this should not affect applicant competitiveness (obviously). I do think 1111 characters is rather short for the first prompt, though. I think it should be at least 2000.

Interview!

But the earliest dates they had were in January!

Ya that was probably me. I was interviewed first week of January, which was like the 3rd week of interviews.

Hi Omzy,
I was about to submit my application tonight, and clearly I have over 1111 characters for the first essay 🙁
This really sucks. The application still doesn't show the character limit imposed. Its exactly 1111 for all three essays? (Won't let you submit if it's more?)

Correct, it won't allow you to submit it.

Also, I completed the application the other day, but it says I need to submit my LORs. I'm guessing it just takes a bit of time for them to process it? Or did you guys have to do something at this point?

On the left side of my status page it says:

Next Step: Please send in your Letters of Recommendation/Evaluation

Has anyone else had this on their page? I'm using the AMCAS letters service so they should automatically be there already. Submitted Oct 4th.

Yea, I had that for about a week, I called to make sure, they said I was complete, but it just took a little while for them to update that online

Ok, they moved me to complete. :xf:

For those who interviewed, did you guys get a mail or email stating who you were going to be interviewing with and what's the agenda going to be etc..

The interview Email included only the day's scheduled itinerary, but you will get a folder at TCMC during your interview which will be more specific about your day's agenda, which include the names of your two interviewers, the speakers, etc.

Thanks. If we had the material early, I could've done some research on each faculty members. Now I'm going to be a nervous wreck. :scared:

May I suggest watching all the videos on the TCMC site to help cure nervousness? Go to the homepage, click on potential students up top, then click on the picture in the bottom left called "Watch our videos."

I think that helped me last year.

Thanks Elway,

I've been watching the videos. I guess in the end we just have to keep a positive attitude. 🙂

Does anyone know when the first batch of acceptance from TCMC would be coming out?

on my interview day they didn't give us a solid date. i think they'll give some acceptances to people they really like on or soon after oct 15, maybe a few rejections, but probably a lot of people won't hear anything for a while. this is speculation of course.:xf::scared:

OMG I JUST GOT ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHH I'm soooo excited 🙂 🙂

OMG I JUST GOT ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHH I'm soooo excited - wow this was definitely my top choice. 🙂 🙂
Congrats Mooshooblue! I got an acceptance email this morning too. So excited!

I wonder if they don't have to abide by the Oct 15 rules since they're new?

Congratulations guys! Just found out that I got waitlisted. Anyone has info. on how this works? How soon do TCMC start accepting waitlisted applicants? before/on/after may 15? It seems like the school doesn't offer many seats off the waitlist, but in the email it says that my application was "reviewed favorable" by the AdCom. Any info would be great.

For those accepted today when did you interview and are you guys pa residents?

Congrats!

hey - PM me for interview advice lol - a bunch of people have been asking me, and i have a reply already typed up haha

So no one has been rejected yet? I guess they waitlisted all the people that they don't accept, correct me if I am wrong. Any other people got put on the waitlist?

hey guys, i just submitted my secondary. received my PIN and logged in. how do you pay the application fee??

FYI, the adcom meets every 2 weeks. They sometimes but not always get through the previous 2 weeks worth of applicants. So for most people, the decision will take less than 2 weeks, but might take up to a month (or more if the adcom gets really behind).

As soon as a decision is made, you will be notified. The goal of admissions isn't to make you wait forever. It comes in both email and a written letter. The email (at least last year) had the written letter's contents attached as a .pdf file. You can print that out and send it in, or if you don't have a printer, you can wait for the hard copy and send that in. One of the things in it is regional campus selection. The regional campuses are assigned on a first come first served basis. So if you have a regional campus preference and you get accepted, I'd start sending in all the documents in ASAP.

We have our Cell and Molecular Basis of Life (CMBL) final this Friday, so if you are interviewing in a few days, the current students might be a little more or less cheery than normal.

As always, pm me if you have questions.

Okay, money is running low! Is anyone willing to put up an interviewee for one night that is near TCMC? PM me if possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

I had a question about the secondary. Does it have to be completed in one sitting? I'm worried about pressing "send form data" and then having that mean I've just declared it officially done and ready for them to review. I know it isn't very long, but I like to work little by little.
Thanks

withdrew interview.. so maybe spot opened up! Good luck

Has anybody heard back who interviewed on or before Oct. 16th? Also, how long was the turnaround?

Has anyone gotten any interviews or rejections lately?

AHHH first interview here coming on Friday--I am getting excited & nervous 😛

Bump... anyone? 🙂

Ahhh...i thought that the next message was going to be someone with acceptance. rejection, or waitlist. Instead I find a "Bump" :smack:

Kiddin on the Bump of course 😀. I hope you find a place to stay Spoonbig21. Maybe split the hotel price 50/50 with someone interviewing?
