I should've been reading SDN more frequently. Knowing that there are other people out there losing their minds is GREAT!! I've been under the illusion that I was alone on this island of uncertainty. Good luck to us all! An acceptance letter sure would make my Friday!! 🙄

Mr. TeachableMoment, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Mr. Jihad are you a Muslim?

TeachableMoment......why would it matter if he was?

us postal office estimates that it takes 2 days for mail to go from iowa city to almost anywhere iowa. and 2-3 days in the midwest no mail tomm 🙁

Hahaha I thought about looking this up but I was like noooo that'd be too OCD, but I'm glad you did. haha
Hopefully emails will go out tomorrow like they said (and hopefully we'll all get one!!):luck:

I've sent a lot of things in Iowa and 1 day is usually sufficient. In fact, mail from Carver has gotten to my college mailbox after one day. I'd expect both tomorrow for most ISers.

I've worked in an admissions office before though, and when we pulled a mass emailing stunt like this one it gets done as the last thing before you turn the lights off and head out the door. No one wants to answer that deluge of phone calls. I'd expect the e-mail a little after 5.

Falls in line with everything these past couple days. I don't expect Carver to do us any favors...but one tomorrow would make up for this long drawn out process.

Im gonna go with hawkdochopeful on this one, they'll send it out tomorrow (friday) at 5 and wont be around to answer a phone till monday... its a pretty much like firing people.... 👍

The white house does the same policy, they call it house cleaning and they always do it friday afternoon.

does the whitehouse fire staff often? did you work there? if so awesome

They do it for firing people, for sending out negative news to the public/press, pretty much anything that can put the white house in negative light is always sent then.

you fire people on a friday so they don't come in and shoot up the work place and people tend to be more relaxed on the weekends than on monday mornings.
not to get all morbid.

hopefully they're telling us on friday so we can go party without being hungover for class the next day👍

Today could be the day, kids! get amped!

i was about to tell you guys "go to sleep and worry about it tomorrow" when I realized i was awake as well.... 😀

This is going to be a long day if they don't get those emails out soon...
*crosses fingers for the fiftieth time!*

At this point I feel like we should start one of those office
pools people do to guess when a baby will be born but for when the emails will go out. Closest without going over wins.
My guess is today at 5:05 central

I am actually going to go with 4:35. I think the office is going to pack up early today

I am saying 4:42.

People need to have time to pack up and I am sure they are all going to be out the door by 5 pm. Plus, most people won't get that email until after 5 pm.

Received a rejection in the (postal) mail today. In-state.

I'm not too surprised. My interview went very well, but my GPAs are well below their standards. Carver is a fantastic med school, good luck to all of you!

Ouch. Sorry to hear it, man. Best of luck to you.

Emails at 5:15pm, CST.

My mail doesn't come until almost 7pm...

You can't bet the same time as me! That's like those dudes on the Price is Right who bet one dollar higher/lower than someone else!

Also rejected by snail mail today, IS. This one's tough to swallow...

This day is not starting off well for people. I'm oos but it's still freakin me out

I think I'll stay away from this thread, it feels scary.

Man, this is weird..I just checked my mail, and nothing from them.

I'm instate, like a 15 minute walk from Carver...

Unless the mail I took out of my mailbox is from yesterday. @_@

I live in IC, it came in the mail today and....

...ALTERNATE LIST.

So now I have to remain in limbo. I hate this more than if I were to get rejected! MORE WAITING... maybe I should just cut the anxiety off and go to a school that has already accepted me.:scared:

I'm gonna get in on this. So IF they send emails, I do think it will be on a Friday, so let's go with 6:10pm EST. Hard copies (snail mail), I'm going with Tuesday...oooh.....Tues morning.....say, 11am EST.😛

the snail mail came and no mail for me but then again I'm 3.5 hours away in IL. I guess I'll be praying even harder for an email

I live 60 miles from IC and didn't get anything in the mail today. Joining the "first born child for an email" club.

I was thinking of naming my bunny Herky or Hawk if I got accepted. Now I'm thinking I might have to name my child some variation of that in exchange for an acceptance.

You are right! I definitely meant to type 5:17pm, in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day festivities.

I just got off the phone with a VERY nice lady at CCOM. We talked about the alterate listings so this is for those of you who are in limbo with me:

There are 50 slots for in state alternates. Typically there is a bit of movement (upwards) for students who do not wish to be waitlisted or accept elsewhere, defer, or other odd reasons. She also mentioned that in the past the number of people admitted from the waitlist is in the 20's and the lowest has been ~18. In essence I took this as good news for the top 50% of those folk on the waitlist.

I am IS, so she didn't give me any figures or info on OOS. Sorry guys.

Hope this helps relieve a bit of stress!

Just got my letter in the mail, I'm #3 on the alternate list. This is good right? This means I have a really really good shot at getting in?

PsychMajo I know you said it's usually in the 20's, I mean that means at least the first 10 HAVE to get in right?

I think you've probably got a really good shot. I mean at least by May 15th you'd think 3 people would drop. I know it's not as good as an acceptance but if you gotta be an alternate, top 5 is where you wanna be.:luck:
