Thanks Red10, I'm immensely relieved but I also don't want to celebrate just yet. To everyone else waiting, I wish you the best of luck!! 🙂 🙂

Congrats, I really don't think you will have any trouble moving off the wait list and into the class. I think at least a little celebration is in order 🙂

the snail mail came and no mail for me but then again I'm 3.5 hours away in IL. I guess I'll be praying even harder for an email

red10 do you happen to live in the Chicago area because I do too and also have not received anything in the mail.

nope, I'm at UofIllinois.

ok kids the ridiculous amount of rejections and alternates has to end. Did they only send out the bad news or something? Lets get some good news going...anyone...anyone....Bueller?

Oh man. Crunch time. Will give my first TWO children for an email.

ACCEPTED!!! I can hardly believe it. I was so excited I had a bronchitis coughing fit and nearly choked myself to death. Fingers crossed for everyone else! 🙂

Oh, came in a big envelope to my mailbox, IS.

Great news!! Lets us know when/if you get an email so I know if I have to be crazy about waiting for the mail tomorrow.

And thanks for the heads up about the ev. size.

I'm a little worried about the alternate positions...A lot of times Iowa accepts more students than it actually has slots for, in anticipation for students dropping/going to other schools. Do you think there's a possibility that Iowa actually wouldn't accept anyone off the waitlist since it's been such a competitive year?

Not meant to ruin anyone's hopes who's on the alternate list!! I'm simply being cautious and as someone on the alternate list I don't want to celebrate too soon :/

hopefully i get an email though.

again, congrats!

1) I like all the people who are joining now during crunch time. i dunno why. it just tickles me.

2)I had a dentist appointment yesterday and I told them that I was waiting to hear from Iowa. Today I got a giant bouquet of flowers delivered with a card that said "congrats on your acceptances. we're keeping our fingers crossed for Iowa."signed my dentist and staff. even my dentist is routing for me. That's gotta count for something right?

Thanks everyone, and I will definitely let you know as soon as I get an email--nothing yet.

That is awesome---what a great doctor. We will have to remember that kind of gesture when we are all doctors some day.

Nope. I'm out of the country so they told me I could call for my decision.

PsychMajo I know you said it's usually in the 20's, I mean that means at least the first 10 HAVE to get in right?

I would think that being #3 is a VERY GOOD chance you'll be in. You might even know earleir than May 15th!!

OOS (a couple hours away) and no mail for me today from Iowa...🙁

Ugh can they please send the emails already, cuz I am dying here!

And...CONGRATS to everyone who got accepted!

I'm approaching the alternate list with caution. The lady I spoke to said that they haven't taken fewer than 18 since she's been there- and she sounded knowledgable. I'm not promising anybody in the top of the wait list anything!! I am in the mid teens so I'm not celebrating just yet. I would have a lot more anxiety if I hadn't been accepted to ANYWHERE...

I interviewed in August, didn't hear a word till now and am having to wait till May for the alternate list to move. I just want it to be OVER!! :scared:

I am actually going to go with 4:35. I think the office is going to pack up early today

I am saying 4:42.

People need to have time to pack up and I am sure they are all going to be out the door by 5 pm. Plus, most people won't get that email until after 5 pm.

so far no go for you 3... but we're getting closer. Can you feel it?!?!:scared:

I am going to seriously have a heart attack if ppl continue sending me emails right now!

Oh if only comic relief made us feel more relieved.

looks like i am either rejected or on the waiting list...but at least i won the timing game!

at least some of you have acceptances elsewhere...i was banking on carver as my first MD one.

any confirmation about emails being sent?

I found the letter in my mailbox this afternoon, then the follow up email was sent to my inbox at 5:02pm CST.

What all was in that e-mail?

And I'm truly amazed that there has only been one acceptance letter and one email received in 45 minutes...

i think i'm clinging hard to the hope that OOS are mailed at a different time, and that no OOS'rs have posted.

No email here yet either, I hope the admissions office keeps their word about emailing accepted students today.

+1000000000

seriously I can't believe that after all the OCD checking and posting over the past few days that we've only had one person post about an email.

Maybe I'm being way to hopeful, but I'm hoping that the one acceptance so far is the same as DrHawk27's about two pages ago: false. It's just hard to believe that out of the dozens of SDNers only one was accepted. Although dalemarie has had some posts quite a while ago, so I'm probably just thinking wishfully...

Email from Carver today with scholarship offer. Hope you guys hear soon, I don't know why they're stringing you along.

We are excited to welcome you to the Carver College of Medicine and are available to assist you with the enrollment process at any time. Please let me know if you have any questions and, again, our heartiest congratulations on this most recent accomplishment!

Congrats to all accepted and best of luck to those waiting and waitlisted...

Is anyone planning on attending the IMEI - it's sorta an immersion into med school, and they cover some anatomy, biochem, study skills and identify resources available to students etc etc. It's 6wks 6/13-7/23 and they provide a $2600 stipend for that period.

I'm considering it, so that I can move early (halfway across the US), settle into town and acclimate myself to med school. However I have international travel planned for I need to do that b4 or after the IMEI, i'll see...

Anyone considering this?
