mine's 9/28. i don't know if that's the earliest but i got the invite this morning.

Yeah definitely congrats. UMB is not my first choice but I would like to at least get an interview - if US News doesn't lie they accept a high percentage of their instate interviewees so you probably have a really good shot.

I was complete on 8/7. Also, yes, I am in-state and status was confirmed in early August, approximately three weeks after I sent in the in-state form.

complete 7/27 and i am instate. they ask you to send them the instate confirmation via snail mail and i think it took around 3 weeks for me to get confirmation as well.

Same here too. 😳 The anxiety is killing me because its my first choice school as well. I even got another interview invite today which is kool but I didnt even feel as excited because I am still waiting on Maryland.

just relax! it is really early and probably they just started doing invites today/or recently. i may be a pot calling the kettle black but try not to worry too much. i know for some of the other schools i got invites to, i was complete before others and they got invites before me and i just started getting anxious. but honestly, there's not that much to do but wait. but congrats on the interview invite, that's still exciting!

I just got a letter from the office of admissions saying they begun to process my secondary application. I am sending out my instate residency form tomorrow. Any idea how long it will be before I am fully processed?

ugg, i just submitted this secondary. The stupid online form saved my answers in different fonts. Some of the essays were in Times and some were in Ariel. it wouldn't let me change it. 🙁

So excited and NERVOUS! I had thought my first interview was going to be at the end of October. Now, suddenly, I have an interview in less than two weeks! Lucky I got a suit last week!

I tried calling the admissions office today to make sure they had gotten everything because on my secondary page it still says some stuff hasn't been received.

They just told me that they have so many applicants they are trying to process...but every other school has received all my stuff and has updated my status accordingly I don't see why maryland can't do the same.

I found the person on the phone extremely unhelpful, has anyone had a similar experience?

No invite for me yet and I registered at the end of July. However, I'm a non-trad (30 years old with an MBA, from Maryland, and a successful business career). Also, I hadn't had any science courses in about 10 years, so my score on the MCAT was only a 32 - a little lower than those with interviews scheduled I believe. My overall GPA is low at 3.5, but I've explained this in my personal statement and secondary application - due to multiple hospitalizations during my freshman year (GPA was 2.8), but obtained 3.85 for the remainder of my education and a 3.5 for grad school. Not really sure what exactly is holding anything up, but I sure hope I hear something soon.

Any opinions on what my chances are? I'm in-state by the way and have been for nearly all my life.

Thanks! I got news from Md today, unfortunately not what I was hoping for - they did not accept me early decision and are rolling me over into the regular applicant pool. Could be worse, obviously, and I'm not TOO upset, but I wish I could at least get an interview.

Gah now its just a waiting game, I really really want to go here its my top choice.

I'm an in state applicant from the Eastern Shore of medicine which is where Dr. Foxwell is from...apparently it helps being from the eastern shore since its a state school and they want to accept people from all over maryland and less people apply from the eastern shore then from other places.

Oh and I have a 3.91 cGPA, 3.95 BCPM and a 30R MCAT so hopefully I will get in AHHH the wait will drive me insane.

I'm the ripe old age of 30 and graduated from Salisbury as well (December 1999 - a semester early b/c I couldn't wait to get out and now I just want to get back in!). Went to Maryland for my MBA and live outside DC now. My parents still live off Cathell road very near the Pines - I went to Decatur - class of 96 (Dan Cathell, not that it means much to you unless you went to driver's ed at Atlantic Driving Academy b/c my dad owned it). Had to interview with Salisbury's HPAC earlier this year to get my letter - pretty stupid I think since I haven't been there in forever, but whatever I need to get in I'm going to do. Good luck again!

Hi, I was wondering how long it took between submitting the secondary application and having the LOR received by the school. For most of the other schools I'm applying to it seemed pretty instantaneous between when the secondary was completed to when the letters were received and to when my file was complete and ready for review. With the electronic Letter Service from AMCAS it seems like there shouldn't be any loose ends in terms of schools getting the letter. Anyways, I'm just wondering if I should contact the school to make sure everything is order or if others are having/had a similar experience. fyi, I submitted my secondary this past tuesday, so not enough time has really passed to worry me, but I want to prepare myself/make a mental note if I need to contact the school. any comments would be appreciated! I believe it says somewhere on their secondary that it can take up to 4 weeks to show they've received your letters. However, 4/5 of mine were marked received by the time I got their secondary. I had to call to get number 5 entered as received. I would say if all of them are marked as not being received wait the four weeks before calling, but it some are marked received and others not, call right away. Good luck!

Hey I am in a very similar situation and I was wondering how you got the admission office to download your letter. I am very worried right now because I submitted my secondary to UMD end of July and my LOR has been available since Aug 6th. Even until now, UMD STILL HAD NOT DOWNLOADED MY LETTER YET. Apprantly my application is still not complete which worried me very very much. I have called admission office about 5 times total sporadically and I have been told the exact same thing "we receive high volume, please be patient." I also write an email to admission office a week ago but still have no heard anything yet.

I am very concerned. I am in-stand for UMD which means UMD might be my only "safety school." but they seem to have no intension to complete my application for me. I was wondering what I should be doing now? Thanks for any advice.

i dunno, after I emailed them that same day they updated my status and received all my letters so I guess the best option would be to be patient.

In my email I included my name my AMCAS ID and what letter they were missing if that helps.

I wouldn't worry too much, but here is what I would do...and I'm speaking more from general experience as opposed to specific experience with Maryland since all my letters are in and I had no problems. Anyway, I would call them again and state something along the lines of "I understand that you are incredibly busy and receive many applications and are most likely in the processing stage as we speak. However, my letters have been available for quite some time and as such I want to make sure that there is not a problem with a letter that I can or need to fix. This is incredibly important as I do not want to have my application delayed for something I could change. If you could just take a few moments and access my file, I'd greatly appreciate it." This way, you put a bit more of the onus on yourself as you are asking if there is something wrong with what you have done as opposed to placing the blame on them and even giving them an out by saying you understand how busy they are processing the materials. However, I would be adamant about not getting off the phone until I have an answer (without being a pain obviously). Good luck.
