Yea, they said that the absolutely earliest is October 15th, but the general rule of thumb is 4-6 weeks after your interview. Your status will update online and they'll send a decision out via snail mail. The Assistant Dean told us that it's much more dramatic to get something in the mail rather than refresh a status page and insisted that we try to have patience.

I'm going to give that a shot, but I really doubt that I'll be able to resist checking come early November.

Lol come on we've had enough drama in this process. Brings back memories of refreshing MCAT THx all over again...

So what's the latest an extra letter of recommendation should be submitted?

There's a prof I've been doing research w/ over the summer. I didn't know him well at the start of the summer, but I think he could write me a great letter now. The thing is that I already have six other letters submitted, one of which is also from a research PI. Is there like a certain time period, 3 weeks after interview or something, that an extra letter should be submitted to make it in time for final consideration of your application?

if i complete late july, no invite yet, does it mean rejection? does pittsburgh reject people soon?

I think they send out mass rejections starting some time in October. I'm in pretty much the same boat as you, btw.

would it even be worth submitting my secondary to pitt at this point? (35r 3.7 subpar ec's)

interview invite today! complete 9/13. 35, 3.86c, 3.79s
interviewing 12/7

They usually hand out invites within 2 weeks of completion, so they've probably been into sept completes for at least a couple weeks now.

yikes, is there a complete email?? or is it just if everything says complete on your status page?

No complete email, just complete on the status page, which usually occurs within a day of submission. In fact, some people get invites within a day of submission. Pitt is REALLY fast.

Complete 9/22. Waiting on my first invite. C'mon Pitt.

Anybody who interviewed already get flustered with the "Fall Update 2009" email? I was like "PITT...ADMISSIONS...EMAIL" really fast in my head then realized the email was about how pretty Pittsburgh is in the fall or whatever. Don't toy with my emotions, Pitt!

Get used to it. Pitt sends a lot of emails like that. I remember I almost had a heart attack with each email. 😛

Yeah, I kind of did the same thing when I saw the sender and "Fall updates." My mind immediately went to, "updates? they're updating my application status? Sweet!" Then I opened it to find a different kind of update. Oh well, I imagine Pittsburgh really is quite nice in the Fall.

Did they not tell you they were gonna send periodic updates? Also they said no acceptance decisions will be notified by email...

Yes, they did tell me both of those things, but in the 2-3 seconds after I initially saw the email that sort of thing did not register in my mind. I realized before the email loaded that it wouldn't be anything relating to admission to the school.

I know I'm already quite late in applying but I have a question regarding the moral dilemma question: Did anyone respond saying that they did not do the right thing and ended up regretting it? Can anyone offer some advice on whether or not to take this route? It's the only real moral dilemma I have faced in recent years. Thanks!

Well, it depends I guess on how bad it was I guess. If you did something that was REALLY wrong like commit a crime or something, don't use it, but if something that is often what people learn to do by mistakes, then I don't see why not for example, helping a friend cheat by giving them answers or telling white lies. In summary, it should be something that is obvious to the reader that you HAVE to commit the mistake in order to learn from it, that it is generally accepted as part of the process. I think if done right, it could stand out as something more sincere than most of these responses can sound like.

I remember discussion of this but I can't seem to find it. I have an interview soon and was wondering what transportation you guys used to get from the airport to your hotel? I'm staying at the Holiday Inn really close to U. Pitt.

The 28X flyer bus was AWESOME. It drives right through the Medical Center area and only costs $2.80 each way. Check the route on the website and see how close it gets you to the Holiday Inn, but if I recall correctly, it should put you on the same block. It takes about 30-40 minutes to get from the airport out to Oakland.

anybody complete here in mid sept get a response yet? i heard they process fast here.

I submitted the secondary on 9/7. Under app status it still says "Invited to complete supplemental application." Should that change to "application complete" or something? I haven't gotten any emails from them. Also, my fee is paid and LOR are complete.

Same here, submitted everything around the same time (1st wk of Sept). Fee paid, LOR complete.

Still says "Invited to complete supplemental application."

ditto

That status will not change. If they've received everything, then it's complete. In fact, they complete files so quickly that you can just go ahead and assume that you're complete a day or two after submission.

The interviews were incredibly chill. Hard to tell how they went when they're like that.
Amazing school. Amazing city.

so.... I really really need October 15th to be today, lol

Is anyone still waiting from late July/early August? Does this mean a rejection is coming?

yeah i was wondering the same thing, since Pitt typically has such a quick turnaround time... 🙁

x4
I was hoping an extensive research background would be helpful at Pitt, but I think they are a numbers school.
I dunno... I've had luck so far with them and my MCAT is around national average and GPA around UPitt's median, so nothing stellar. No bench research for me, just weird ECs... who knows what they are looking for!
